No stopping me now!
BellaHugz replied to Pretty Girl VSG's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
You go Gurl!! Now every negeative thing these family memeber have said should be the one thing that keeps you going towards your goal. There is a saying to keep your friends close and your enemies closer but when it is family there is just no escaping. Keep each one of the negative words as a stepping stone to reach your new goal. You deserve to look and feel your best, do not allow the abuse of words from negative people hinder you any more! As i have gotten older I have learned a valuable lesson, there are alot of cheerleaders in this world, start removing the negative people in your life and surround yourself with people who are positive and make you feel good about your self and your life goal!! -
Scared Shitless-8 years out banded rapidly gaining weight
BellaHugz replied to LifeLiver's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Wow, Isn't is amazing how much our bodies will take after beign banded. I too was in the banded and went through all the vomiting and not being able to eat protein and keep it down. My body would just reject everything and I would never know when it was gonig to come back up..Sometimes it was immediately and sometimes 20 minutes later. I am so glad to hear you are sleeved and doing so well, your story has helped me fight to get sleeved. Congrats on 48lbs lost and to being able to keep the food you eat, it really is a miracle!! -
Some times it just helps to take measurements and photos of your self and to see the visual change in yourself. Even though your scale isnt moving your internal body is changing and that will show up in a scale victory down the road. Congratulations to your new goals and I cant wait to see you victory dance show up on the boards! Be encouraged!

Surgeon trying to talk me into band.
BellaHugz replied to bigbeauty78's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Please for your health Run to another doctors office that does the sleeve procedure that will take your insurance. Also sign a release form and have all your pre-op medical forms sent to them. You will be grateful you did. Many of us have had the band myself included and I would never suggest the lapband. I reason alone is the failure rate and the other is many doctors do not use a xray or florascopic view, to see how much your lapband is adjusted so to be honest they the doctors stab the needle in your port and guess, they guess how much fluid they put in your band for restriction and they guess how restrictive it is. All these guessing games are not put out for public knowledge and unless you demand to go to a radiologist and have a view of what is Really Happening with your port and the lapband adjustment you really are trusting the doctors. I found out by insisting my doctor send me to a radiologist. It was then I i decided to keep strong my own doctor records. I found out my lapband adjustments because they couldnt hide the records they were right in front of me. My last fill was 9cc in a 11cc band, six months later I only had 3cc, I saw the needle and it said 3cc I used to a MA. The assistant showed me the syringe the radiologist lied and said it had 4cc. Either way it leaked, no wonder 4 years of adjustments and guessing I have a leak. Please save yourself alot of heart ache and go to another doctor! -
NurseBarbie, you look amazing! Congrats to you!!

If you had heartburn with your band, do you have it with your sleeve?
BellaHugz replied to ribearty's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
That is my concern too. I just had the Manometry Study and will meet with my Dr to go over the results. Dr wanted me to do the bypass because of my issues with gerd, acid reflux because of complications from the lapband. But I was told if the test was bad and my muscles were not strong I would be strongly suggested to do the RNY which I really do not want to do. And they were supposed to call me and let me know if the sleeve was not going to be an option. But I haven't heard anything, so my fingers are crossed. So good luck to you, I hope your test results give your doctor the knowledge needed to advise you on what is best for you. The best path is the optimal health you can have! hugs : ) -

I wonder about that too. I really do feel sorry for him because many people are watching him and as many of us know it didnt work. After everything I have gone through with my lapband, the leaks the constant pain and the port being put in wrong (xrays showed that if I didnt have leaks then it would have cracked soon) well I just wonder when the lapband will be pulled of the market. Many doctors refuse to do the lapband surgery any more. Boy do I wish I was told that before my first surgery! -

Dr Visits- did you know there are no fat Pow?
BellaHugz replied to BellaHugz's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, I have to agree she meant it as a Prisoner of War. Which truely appauled me and I was in shock with her rash explanation. This isnt the first time I have been subjected to such rude undercurrent of obesity prejudice. It goes on far to much for any of us to admit, that is why I got in to my car and cried. Then my song came on "What doesnt kill you makes you stronger" by Kelly Clarkson. And that line in the song just makes me want to fight for my health and leave the foolishness of behind me. I am not by any means going to accept her foolishness as my way of life. Thank you all for being so supportive! big hugz -

Has anyone had a conversion from sleeve to gastric by pass ?
BellaHugz replied to sprinkles13's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I'm 5 weeks out post op sleeve and from the very beginning I was very nauseas. My surgeon gave me Zofran and said it will take a little bit of time. I had to get use to my new stomach. Well 4 trips later to the ER with dehydration. And still nauseous they had to hospitalize me. I've been here 8 days and they had to give me everything through IV fluids including my Protein. The only thing that helps my nausea is Phenegran by injection the pill form doesn't work for me. Im so miserable and unhappy with the sleeve. The sad thing is you dont know how your body will take it until you e had it done. I research this sleeve for two years before i decided to do it. Sadly I was not a good canditate for the sleeve. I'm now scheduled for gastric by pass for Monday. I would like some feedback and or words of encouragement in these difficult times for me. Oh my goodness you have been through alot.. Sending prayers you way for quick answers to your health issues and the proper test to give the Drs the knowledge to treat you with compassion and proper care. My Doctor is requiring me to get a Manometry study just to be safe of nausea and complications for gerd. If by any chance of me having band Should there be an issue he is leaning toward rny. Take care sweety, big Hugz to ya! -
Saying hello I am starting my new journey
BellaHugz replied to ppqjones's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Well to update my Dr is all for eviction & he is going for the reflux/GERD as the necessity part first. I have an EGD next week then we battle with the insurance company. My biggest fear is that I am not going to show symptoms of ulcers because my band was emptied at the end of Jan & I'm not yet to my point of constant daily vomiting. Short of it, if insurance denies the medical necessity for removal we will go with an intolerance route. The next battle will be to get the conversion approved. My BMI is around 35 so I'm no longer in the morbid obesity category. And thankfully I have no other issues. I'll pray for the best outcome & if I have to go self pay ill cross that bridge when I get to it. I do not want to get back to my pre-band weight just to get approval :-( Good luck to all of you on your journey! We all have to stay as positive as we can....we will make it through! Welcome!! I too went throught the lapband let down, and am currently going through all the Dr visit with my New Dr. My old lapband dr put my lapband with the port in wrong, so no wonder it didnt work and it was a matter of time for the tube/port attachment to crack. Before Lapband i never had gerd or reflux after being tighten to tight Vomiting became a part of my normal everytime i eat Protein. So I completly understand what you have gone through. Good luck onyour journey to better health. -

Thank you all for understanding, it is real easy for those who are smaller and have never had to fight for each pound they lose to throw judgement towards anyone bigger then them. Yes, Girliegirl, i did cry as soon as I got into my car. But then my favorite song came on, What doesnt kill ya makes you stronger. So I sang at the top of my lungs! (with the windows closed of course)
