    Nausea

Are you having any shakes? Your stomach continually makes acid. The water doesn't neutralize it . If you try something that is alkaline (like milk) it may help.

    Nausea

My surgeon gave me pills for nausea and I took them for the first 3 days and I never had any nausea.

    5 days post

I was banded 7/15 and had gas about 4-5 days, but everyone is different. You can have gas pains in your shoulders, chest, or abdomen. Try walking around as much as possible - that should help. Hang in there it will get better soon
  4. CONGRATS! You've done great! I'm only 5 days post op and its great reading posts like yours!
  5. I was banded 7/15 - 4 days ago. I have no appetite at all and feel stuffed all the time. I am having 3 protein drinks a day as required, after the drinks all I want to do is burp. Is this normal???
  6. Thanks Aviva- I just wanted to make sure nothing was wrong,

    Help! I made a mistake.

My doc had a cancellation so I only had four days to prep. I mentioned that and they said it was ok because I had lost about 10 pounds when I went to the nutritionist . I'm on day 5 now and I've only lost 2 pounds (first surgery had to be cancelled because I came down with Lyme disease 2 days before)

    Newbie...

I'm an RN and have had several surgeries. First of all your surgeon doesn't put the tube in, the anesthesiologist does. That is all he does all day long. He inserts the tube and gives you medication during the surgery to make sure you are unconscious during the surgery. The tube goes in when you are asleep and comes out before you awaken. Only rarely to people awaken with the tube in place. More than likely you won't even know you had it in, I'm scheduled for 7/15 for the band
  10. Oops-hit send too soon- CONGRATS ------ GOOD WORK!!!!
  11. To Dee----Ill try to compensate for your "friend"
  12. It's too bad that people have to be that way and not be happy for you! Have other people had bad experiences when they told others about their plans?
  13. I have a good friend who was banded about a year and a half ago. She did excellent - got to her goal weight in a little over a year, but still has refused to tell anyone . I just decided to be upfront and tell my close friends who have been very supportive. I just figured it would be easier then making up reasons to explain the weight loss later. It isn't a secret that I'm morbidly obese - I'm sure people noticed, so I just decided to be upfront about it. I'm on the pre op diet and have 10 days to go - cant wait. Anyone else going on July 15th???

    SOooooo excited!!!

Congrats!!!! 36 pounds is great!!! I'm scheduled for 7-15 --- hope I do as well as you!
  15. Hi Besillis, I'm an RN having my surgery on 7-15. Just about every surgery has pre-surgery testing. I had bloodwork, EKG, cxr, and they explain to you what to expect. Started pre op diet 3 days ago. - 3 shakes and one light meal a day. It's 3:30 pm here and today I had a shake for Breakfast and a hamburger for lunch and I'm not even hungry now. Been sipping Water through the day.
  16. I'm on day 3 of my second pre-op run. I had to cancel the first surgery date due to getting Lyme Disease 4 days before surgery.( Lucky me!) I found putting the protein shake in a blender with a few ice cubes makes it taste lighter and creamier - more like an ice cream shake. I especially like the caramel flavor. Good luck to all those like me counting down!
