  1. Don't beat yourself up. But, be sure to inform your doctor. I think you'll be fine though.

    Weird Chest Feeling..

The arm pain is, undoubtedly, what they call "referred gas pain". Basically, there is a nerve in your abdominal cavity that when gas puts pressure on it, the pain refers up to your arm. I'm a nurse, and I had a hysterectomy 3 weeks ago. The arm pain was worse than the incisions. ok.. Let me qualify that.. the caffeine headache I woke up with was the WORST.. the arm pain a VERY close 2nd. It took several days before the arm pain went away.. my right arm was pretty much useless...

Sorry if I offended. I thought that I answered the question you were asking.. just felt obligated to mention my professional knowledge about the meds as well. Again, pardon me. Just trying to be helpful.

    Oh no! Food Stage Confusion!

I would say that is, most likely, exactly why they are not on the list. HIGH starch (read: High sugar). Little to no nutritional value. Trust me.. I'm not perfect, or else I wouldn't be here hanging with all of y'all. LOL. But, I do know nutrition. So.. yeah...

My husband had this surgery a year and a half ago. We have both had other major surgeries in the past, and he says it's not "that" bad. He was able to drive himself within about 3 or 4 days. I know you say you're not worried about the pain meds.. but, as a nurse, I feel responsible to tell you that if you HAVE taken pain meds then you should not drive within 12 hours of having taken them. (yes.. I know that sounds extreme. But, they do tend to linger in the system.) You may get to a point where you only have to take a pain pill to sleep, and would be fine to drive during the day (after at least 3 or 4 days). Follow your doctor's advice, and pay attention to how YOU feel. That is your best guide.
  6. MaggieMay702: Yes.. but, also.. I don't know about you, but I check facebook WAY more often than I check this sight. I just thought that for those of us that spend a decent amount of time on facebook, it would be a good way for us July banders to stay in contact and encourage each other. My husband had this done almost 2 years ago, and is a member of this community and he says it's really common practice. I know it's easier for him to keep up on fb than it is to keep up here. But.. to each his own. Your invite has been sent.
  7. sprinkle715: Yes, private message me your facebook name and we'll get it worked out.
  8. You have all been invited. Check your email.
  9. I just wanted all of you other July bandsters to know that I have started a completely closed, and private group on facebook for our "class". No one can search it unless they are a member. None of its content or members show on anyone's newsfeeds, except for members.. and, you can only become a member by personal invite by me. message me your email address if you would like to be invited. I think it will be helpful and fun.

    Firming lotions?

ladyjordan: Do you feel like the gym is helping with loose skin? Do you do crunches or anything?

4 years ago! I WAS FAT!

lellow: You might find that strength training grows on you, if you do it.. consistantly.. for several days (weeks). It gets to where it's nearly addictive. If you don't work out you feel "icky". I don't know. Maybe worth trying?

ok.. so, this may sound weird

I don't have ANYTHING left. No ovaries.. no lymph nodes.. they took the omentum (a fatty layer on the bottom of the stomach organ).. and, even the inner layer of fat from my abdomen (kind of like Lipo.. without Lipo). If they could have scraped the first layer off of my muscles and bones, they probably would have. I'm kind of bummed about it all. We were trying to conceive, when I found out I had to have the hysterectomy. Oh yeah.. and, then my step dad passed away (suddenly, and unexpectedly) 2 days before my surgery. Hasn't been a good month. Everything is bumming me out. I'm hoping that that will all change with weight loss... I have to have pelvic exams and cancer screenings twice a year for the next 5 years. Just looking for a light at the end of the post menopausal tunnel. heh.

    Just got my surgery!

I know this sounds lame: but.. drink your Water.. lots of it.. but, slowly. I haven't been banded, yet.. my date is next week. However, my husband had it almost 2 years ago, and he says that is what helped him. Good luck! You can do it!

4 years ago! I WAS FAT!

I may message you sometimes. I'm a little scared. I was always thin, until about 10 years ago (the story is on my profile). But.. I hate being fat. I want my body back!

Thanks My surgery is set for July 16. Say a prayer for me!

omg.. I'm so happy. Thank you! You are now, officially, one of my favorite people. Oh.. and, you are GORGEOUS! Congrats!
  17. It's just one day! Concentrate on the family... watching the kids play (if you like kids, that is).. the fireworks, and the reason for the holiday!
  18. I have to agree with Beanie80. NO METAMUCIL!! I'm a nurse, who currently specializes in Geriatric care. That's what I give people who have constipation issues! If someone has diarrhea, already, it is not a good thing to take! Trust me on this one.
  19. I am set for July 16. I don't have to do any liver shrinking.. so, I'm going to enjoy tomorrow, and my son's 20th bday (which is Saturday), before I do anything drastic. I will be minding calories, but I still want to enjoy those days while I can. I start the pre-op cleanse on the 14th. Nervous, and excited, all at the same time. I just had a, laproscopic, radical hysterectomy, almost 3 weeks ago.. so, I'm hoping that they can just use some the incisions that I already have in place. Fewer scars > More scars. Here's hoping!
  20. I was one of those, disgustingly, well built in shape women that I now have come to loathe. I would have a baby, and within months be back into a size 5. I also, abused my metabolism for years, living off of cigarettes, diet cokes and very little food. My ex-husband, even though he did drugs and was an abusive alcoholic, lifted weights and was very concious and picky about his physique (and mine). Anyway, fast forward past the divorce.. being broke with three kids and trying to conserve food so they would have enough.. and, basically 16 years of pain and tragedy, I got remarried.. got happy.. entered my 40's.. quit smoking and gained a TON of weight that I have, continually, been unsuccessful at getting rid of. I love to work out.. but, I also love food. I love to work out.. but, since I've gained this weight, working out is painful and disappointing... Anyway, my current husband had lap band surgery done a year and a half ago. He has lost 75 pounds, and although he struggles with getting stuck sometimes.. and missing his former enjoyment of food.. he wouldn't trade it. I thought if he had the surgery, then my eating habits would follow suit.. and I'd lose the weight as a by product of HIS surgery. It didn't work out that way. My surgery is scheduled for July 16! I'm pretty nervous.. but, I'm willing to make some sacrifices and do the work. I guess we'll see how it goes!
