  1. I do not get banded until October 4th. I am obsessive, in my defense I have waited for this for 10 years... However it is darn near all I think about, read about and want to talk about. I am a planner so I am planning. I think my husband is getting annoyed with the constant lap band chatter. But, school starts tomorrow and he will miss me and be happy for the chatter. Lol Pre op - found shakes and recipes for shakes I find to be yummy after taste testing, even found how to make Protein pudding and ice cream so I can feel like I am eating. I got this way because I love food, so soon I can eat healthy and enjoy my food more by making it with more thought. The term I heard used was "Thoughtful Eating" and that is going to be my mantra! (I am currently a speed eater). NEED to work on eating smaller bites slower. Post op - I have made homemade Soup stocks and broths added whey protein to them and froze 1 oz individual servings. I have beef, chicken, and a cabbage/ham for the clear food stage. Any other get ready early ideas would be great. Thanks!

    Obsession ...

School started today so I will definitely be busy! Lol I did get out of cafeteria duty (so bad in a high school) because I told only my principal about the surgery and when I explained the pre op diet and my possibly tackling an innocent child for their corn dog he agreed that I should be at the basketball courts. Lol PS I am also going to use tiny, baby sized utensils. Thanks for the feedback.

    Obsession ...

Thank you. I have been wanting this and so uncomfortable in my own body for so long it will have ups and downs I know. I am ready not only for the ride but to be at the wheel!

    Back pain

From what I have read here and elsewhere it is gas pain on some nerve and every one says to walk because it helps the gas leave your body easing pressure on that nerve making you feel better. Most everyone says it is shoulder pain though I imagine back could be too. Not a doctor so I would maybe put in a call if it doesn't get better.
  5. Good question, I am a High School teacher and that was one of my staples...

    Feeling Great

One of the things I look forward to is clothes shopping I am a size 28/4x and I can't wait to not feel as wide as I am tall (I am only 5 foot tall), oh! And shoes I can't wait to buy sexy, tall, strappy shoes!!! I told my husband we would save money doing this but didn't take into consideration my new clothes/shoes budget! Lol
  7. My name is Holly and I turned 40 in May. I have been chubby my entire life and after yoyo dieting went from chubby to obese, from obese to morbidly obese and have reached a new low with super obese! I have been a student with no insurance for years and now while I have insurance they will not cover it but, my husband of a year (life partner of 18) and I have decided we will finance it. I want to be healthy and have babies and my clock is ticking down! I start my 3 week pre-op diet tomorrow! Not happy about the 3 weeks of starving but I know I am ready, in the past year I have graduated college, married my love of 18 years, finished my first year as a SpEd teacher and now wls ! Good Gravy!!! Lol here's to hoping my next big life event involves babies. Lol
  8. When do you start your pre op diet? Mine is 3 weeks before so I have about a month untill I start it. I am preparing early. I know from doing Atkins carb/sugar withdrawl is no joke. My plan is to cut sugar and simple carbs out while I can eat unlimited non-starchy veggies and hopefully when I am going through food withdrawl I won't also be getting the carb/sugar headaches and grouchiness on top of it. Lol
  9. I feel like my husband becomes annoyed because it is all I talk about. I love that I'm not alone with this board.

how soon after can I swim?

My doc says it depends on if it is a public or private pool.
  11. You can still host dinner parties. Just play with your food. Take recipes you have and make them work for your new healthy lifestyle. The thing I worry about is as a person who loves cooking and thought about going to culinary school I know everything needs to be tasted and I taste as I cook...a...lot.

    Disappointed

The first month out I was told will be less about weight loss and more about healing. Can't wait to get to the next step of my journey!
  13. "Do you have the bariatric foodie cookbook? Is it worthwhile?" I did purchase the kindle version because I collect cook books and I have already used it. However you do not need to purchase it if money is tight. Every recipe is on her website. www.bariatricfoodie.com
  14. I can't use milk so I use water, a little SF pudding, and SF coffee house syrups it is so flavorful and creamy. Totally bariatric Foodie...
  15. I just read this thread from start to finish. I want to say thank you. I have been researching lap band for about 10 years so I have a lot of technical knowledge but that can only go so far. First hand accounts are so helpful and make the entire process much less frightening. I am 40 and have fertility issues due to my weight. My clock is damn near done ticking and lap band may be my last chance to be a Momma. Not just a Momma but a healthy, and good example for my hopefully future child/ren. I have a three week pre op diet and am getting banded on October 4th. I am a teacher in AZ and this will allow for fall break to recuperate. Usually during the school year I eat MC Donald's for breakfast every morning. I plan to do a little pre pre op diet and replace my usual schooldays breakfast with a protein shake. Well anyhow, thank you for your awesome posts, all of you.
  16. Nice I will check it out. I get a brand from Walmart that is pretty good. Body Fortress Advanced Whey Protein, I use it with bariatricfoodie.com's protein shake recipes.
  17. Have you used the ISO Pure in broth? I want to buy some and freeze 1 oz batches of homemade broth with the protein added so it is ready for after my surgery.
  18. It is a ways away. I am waiting until Fall break. I teach SpEd at a high school and do not want to miss too many days away from my students. So October 4th is the day! It seems so far away right now but, I know once school starts back up time will fly and I think my 3 week pre op diet will be easier if I have school to occupy my time.
  19. My scope isn't until Sept. 30th.
  20. My surgery is Oct 4th. I am starting a pr-pre op diet. I am replacing my usual breakfast mcmuffin and hashbrown with a protein shake and cutting down on carbs. My pre op diet will be 3 weeks 2 protein shakes, one meal of 4-6oz lean protein, a cup of green veggies and a cup of free with all the calorie free drinks, sugar free popsicles and sugar free jello I want. Starting later I hope maybe I can learn more from what you all learn in your journey's.
  21. I am going through True Results in Scottsdale AZ and am in the same boat...no hernia...no band. At least now I know I am not alone in hoping I have a hernia. Lol Good luck!

    Newbie with cold feet

I can not help with much on your worry list as I do not smoke and am still way pre op. I will be banded in October, I will tell you however that I have been prepping for the protein shakes because my BMI is very high so I will be on a protein shake for two of three meals diet for three weeks. I have finally found a whey protein powder that is not to bad alone. I make it better by using recipes from bariatricfoodie.com and now use a protein shake every morning as my go to breakfast, peanut brittle is amazing and tomorrow I am trying pumpkin cheesecake. Seriously Ah...Maz...Ing!
