Lisa, I try to go to the gym at least 4 times a week. However, for now, I'm sticking to the treadmill for an hour at 2.5 and incline of 2.0-2.5. That may not be a lot for others but for someone who hates exercise, it's a big accomplishment. My lapband doctor has been encouraging me from day 1 to exercise. I trust him, so I listen and take his advice. Yet, in two weeks, I haven't lost any weight! But I've had NSV moments.

Hi! I am sorry, but you have to be strong. I know how hard it is to have children around the house and all the sugary stuff. Personally, I purchased a box of sugar free cookies. I know some bandsters are going to read this and say " that's still not healthy!" Well the good news is that the cookies have been in my pantry for about two weeks without being touched! My plan worked in a weird sort of way. I thought if I dared eat a cookie, at least it would be a sugar free cookie, but as of now, I haven't. Yesterday, when I went to church, they gave the volunteers lemon custard cake. I never touched it! The fact is that we need to find the strength in us to fight temptation. Being a part of this forum has really helped me stay motivated and on the right track. Don't give up. Stay strong!

@Bandakat: how much weight have you lost since being banded? How many fills have you had? -
Ahhh...the mystical green zone!

Good for you! I, on the other hand, am in bandster hell. I am hungry all the time or at least about 2 hours after I eat. I get my second fill tomorrow. I hope things get better. -
Hello everyone. I am worried. I was banded on June 28. It's been three weeks. I lost 11 pounds during my pre op 5 day liquid diet and 6 pounds since surgery ( post op liquid diet). needless to say, ALL of my weight loss has been due to liquids! I am walking 2.5 miles every day on the treadmill ( for an hour). My concern is that the scale is not moving! I am still on mushy food, but I know that I'm doing well following portion size. I am worried that my doctor will fill me on Monday, July 22 and that it will be too tight. I'm so confused, because I feel that considering what I used to eat to what I'm eating now, my weight should be decreasing. Maybe I'm worried because I have been reading no weight loss horror stories in this forum.

NWgirl Thank you sooooo much. I appreciate you taking time to respond positively to my question. I know, I have to be patient. After all, it's only been 20 days since surgery. Xoxo

Post-Op Day 1: Gained 5 pounds in 1 day. WTH???
Heccat2 replied to BringingSexyBackToTX's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yesterday I weighed myself in the morning and the scale showed 186.6. A few hours later, I weighed myself again and it showed 189.4. We just need to stay off the scale! Lol. NSV moment: today I wore a black t-shirt I purchased two months ago. It used to be fairly close to my belly. It is size XL. However, today, when I wore it, it looks like a mini- dress. Amazing! -
I just got my lap band surgery on 15 July 1013
Heccat2 replied to starqueen714's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi! Congratulations on getting banded. When I got banded, my surgeon placed 3.0 cc of fluid in my band during the operation. That night and the next day, I had severe chest pains. It hurt to breathe. The next day after surgery, my doctor called me and when I mentioned the chest pains he said to go to the clinic immediately. There, he removed liquid, but I don't know how much. Needless to say, the pain disappeared in a matter of minutes. A week later, he placed 1.5 cc and on Monday, July 22 I see him again. My point is that your doctor may have added too much liquid during surgery. You must call him and complain about your chest pains, ok? Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. -
Everyone, thank you so much for the great advice and unending support. I really do not know how I would have made it these last three weeks without you guys. God bless you all, and good luck!

Heccat2 replied to tamaraking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good question! I have a pool but did not think of asking my doctor when I can go for a swim. I'm three weeks pos- op by the way. I guess I could ask him next Monday. -

@Quahog, hi! I food this information online: You may hear the term "slider food" if you're researching lapband surgery, and you may wonder what it means. Typically a slider food is one that can easily slip through the narrow stoma passage created by the band's restriction. It is important to avoid slider foods as much as possible, because they slide right through where they are supposed to be restricted for awhile. Slider foods don't help you feel full and can be full of calories, too, so they really defeat the purpose of your lapband. Milkshakes, malts and other ice cream treats - No matter how thick they are, they will melt by the time they hit your stomach and just slide right through your band. And they're high in calories. If you must have a milkshake, try a Protein shake instead. cheese - By the time most cheeses get to the band, they are also melted and can slide right through the band. Fortunately, they cheeses usually have a lot of protein, but be careful to not overdo it. Candy (especially chocolate) - Many lapband patients report that candies can slide through their band easily, which is unfortunate, because many lapband patients also have a sweet tooth. An occasional small piece of candy is okay, but be sure to have it after you have had a healthy meal so you won't be as tempted to eat as much. High-calorie liquids - Many of your favorite liquids are high in calories and can easily slide right through even a tight lapband restriction. Think twice before drinking sugary sodas, fruit juices and fancy coffee drinks. They may taste great, but they will do nothing to help you lose weight. Don't think, though, that slider foods are bad. They can actually serve a very good purpose when it comes to foods that are typically difficult for lapband patients to tolerate. Consider adding sauces, dressings or melted cheese to firm eggs, tuna, steak or other foods that tend to sit too long before passing through your stomach pouch. A little slider sauce can add flavor and help ease some more difficult foods back into your diet. Maria

I have only lost 16 pounds in one month, but you are truly my inspiration! Congratulations! -
@verasa... I can only speak from my experience. I had pain for about 5-7 days. Everyone is different. Are you taking pain meds?

When I try eating corn again, I hope I can tolerate it because I LOVE corn! ?

I was reading on another thread how some bandsters have lost 20-30 lbs in 3 years. I don't know about any of you but if I only lose 20-30 lbs after three years, I would be devastated. I know some of you would say that it's better to lose some than gain some, but I still don't think it's enough. I pray this does not happen to me!
