Just had my 1st fill on the 27th and feel just a slight change in the feeling from the band, but since it's only a couple of days not sure the restriction feeling is here to stay. Once again not a big change in my in appetite. I still graze to much, especially at night!

Been stuck twice so far and it's not the end of the world, but like sojourner said it does teach a lesson which a stone cold food junkie like myself needs! I was so glad I could eat at any of the early levels mushy were great after liquids, and soft food made mushy forgettable and so on!

Had my first fill (12pm) of 1.5cc to my 14cc band. I think I feel restriction? Or maybe it's that I just feel my stoma/esophagus being squeezed by that 1.5 of saline (4pm)? This is the same feeling as the swelling from surgery. Will this feeling last because I don't feel hungry, so I hope so.

Everyone has to jump through their hoops! Congrats

I knew I haven't seen you in awhile. I was maintenance in my school district and I can appreciate how hectic start of school is.

How long is it taking you to heal?
rmalikone replied to PuraVida37's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
About 5 days from surgery, and about 20 days to regular food. Which made everything completely normal. -
Mine doesn't hurt, when I drink a Protein shake I feel full. Doc said it may take a week or so to feel the fill! I think I feel it now. My hunger is head hunger, as I always have head hunger!

Nothing ventured nothing gained! For me this was my last shot. I also hit goal weight with WW way back, I think it was 123 success counted protein, milk, veggies, fats, fruits. Was at 178 lbs-did not hold that for long and have topped out at 271 lbs. Lap-band gives me hope!

My Doc say's 48 hrs on liquids, slowly work back to solids.

Stayed away for 1.5 weeks, then back to my 2 cups in the morning. Have stayed away from soda pop, but have a had a can of diet one or two times!

Are there any 50 to 60 year old out there
rmalikone replied to dmh102's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 57 and don't think being my age and losing weight with Lap Band surgery is harder than say someone that is younger trying to do the same. I do believe that being 57 and trying to lose weight is harder than when I was 37 and trying to lose weight. At 57 I basically had given up, did not want to fight it anymore! It felt good to eat and not worry about it.Problem was I was about to pop! Could not take that I would not bend over to pick something off the ground as it was to much work! I'm in bandster hell at the moment but my first fill is around the corner and hope for the best. -
I don't have any problem with anything that people need to keep to themselves, as for me I told only a select few and fibbed to everyone else. I think that people have failed so many times that even a slim chance of failure and the rejection and the feelings that come with it have people keeping the surgery to themselves! The people I did not what to know anything, I told them that my surgery was for a hernia.

Questions about port and first fill
rmalikone replied to katie2244's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's your body and your not hungry, so to me why get a fill! The port is that little bump under the largest incision. As for feeling it, everyones body is different and placement can also be different. I could always feel mine. -
Time for My Fill
rmalikone replied to fashionstylist's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 8th and will get my first fill also on the 27th and I think I could have used it at least a week ago. Probably not medically wise a week ago? Right now it feels just like any other diet. My history with diets ain't to good!!!!! -
Im still hungry but havent had my first fill.... Is that normal?
rmalikone replied to mandybm's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 6 weeks out and will get my first fill the 27th of August. In my experience; once the swelling go's down everything is about the same as before surgery. For me the only difference is if I eat to fast I get stuck but not to the point of sliming (if I check myself fast enough) . Slimmed only once and don't want to do that again, because of the pain. Biggest problem still remains head hunger. When you can eat regular food again and time until you start getting fills is called BANDSTER'S HELL for good reason! -

JULY 2013 BAND BUDDIES
rmalikone replied to sprinkle715's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Banded July 8th and won't get my first fill till Aug 27th, and can not come soon enough! Almost feels like I haven't had the band surgery at all! It only talks to me if I eat to fast. -
Difficulties with lap band as vegan?
rmalikone replied to annanyc's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm not a vegetarian, but quinoa would be very helpful. 1 cup cooked has 8.14g protein. -
It's like summer squash (yellow) and zucchini (green)

Hoping one day to have a similar story.

How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
rmalikone replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I see a conflict between what Wendell stated (band cause's you to eat less because of the restriction, physically(paraphrase) and what others state (mis73) that band causes a sense of fullness which in-turn allows you to eat less! Is it one or the other? Both? -
3 weeks post op.. No restriction
rmalikone replied to marcelaS's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've eaten somethings that I should not have, but I just got back in the saddle again and tried harder the next day. If I was able to diet properly I would not need the band. And guess everyone here could say the same thing. So try harder but don't beat yourself to death over a minor slip. Here was my slip last night; almonds, pretzels and sour cream and onion flavored crisps! I was mad at myself so today I redoubled my efforts and did well. My first fill is August 22nd, but I think it's me relearning how to eat more than the band not making me feel full! -
