  1. Hello everyone, I am new to this foram and I usually just scan and read everyone else's post but today I decided to create an account and post a topic. I am a very private person, but I think interacting with others on this issue will help me to be successful. I have been overweight for about 10 years now and I am 39 years old. I am hoping that the lap band will be the tool I need to lose the weight and get rid of this annoying diabetes. I at the Pre-op phase and have not yet had my first appt. but I have been through this before so I know the drill. 2 years ago I was scheduled to have the Gastric Bypass and 2 days befor the surgery I cancelled it and told myself that I can just lose the weight on Weight Watchers. No offense, I still love Weight Watchers. Anyway, the diabetes got worse and now I am 2 types of medication and I am always tired. After researching bariatric surgery, I feel that the Lap Band would be better for me than Gastric Bypass. I don't mind losing weight slowly just as long as I am losing it. I look forward to hearing your story and sharing mine!
  2. I am excited to get this ball rolling. My goal is to get all of my pre-op stuff done in a week. I called my insurance company just to make sure the surgery is covered. They said yes, but my medical group does the approvals really. So I called them and they said as long as I meet the critiria and the dr. thinks this will help me. I hope to be scheduled before the end of August. Stay tuned......

Has anyone else felt this way?

Please don't get discouraged. We are here for you. I am still pre-op but have been strugling with diets for many years. Last night I had the munchies and instead of raiding my daughters school snacks like I usually do, I had half a protein shake (atkins dark milk chocolate) and I was fine. Also, I get motivated when I go to the health food store and find all kinds of neat stuff that is good for you. Today I was at Lassens and found a zero calorie sweetner called "monk fruit in the raw"....who knew. Anyway, I totally believe you can do it! Dry you eys and have a protein shake girllllll.
