    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Hi everyone, I went for my pre-op and last visit with surgeon yesturday. I thought that I would be there for about 30 mins and then make the long 2 hour drive back to work....wrong!! After I met with the surgeon, I was told to go across the street to the hospital and get pre-admitted. That was a 1 hour wait, and then she put a wrist band on me and freaked out and told her that my surgery was not today. She says that I had to go to another part of the hospital and talk to a nurse. That was a 1 and half a hour wait and I had a whole lot of paperwork to sign and a bunch of pre-surgery scrub down stuff. I did not leave the hospital until 3pm. I have soooooo much information swimming in my head right now. I spent the better part of the afternoon going through the paperwork they gave me deciding what to put in my hospital bag and what to keep at home. Anyway, let's just say, my surgery is Sept. 3rd and I am overwhelmed. The surgeon asked me if I was excited and I said that I have not really thought about it because I am just trying to get through each day. I lost 4 more pounds since my visit on August 12th though. Anyway, I want to be excited like the rest of you guys.

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Yes i have cheated a few times but i am trying my best. In fact i wss having a mental struggle about whether or not to eat a mini churro. But the runt71 asked someone else how they were doing and i snapped out of the trance. I have been so stressed that food consumes my mind. I have found that trying on some clothes that are too small helps. Also looking at myself naked in a full length mirror usually stops me from wanting to eat. Hang in there we...one way or another we can get through this.
  6. This topic is so helpful. One of my major concerns is when I would be able to return to work. I would love to stay home 2-3 weeks and my company would definately pay for it but I am trying to get a promotion and things are tricky right now. I have my surgery on Tuesday Sept 3rd and I was hoping to be back to work on that next Monday the 9th. That gives me 6 days including the surgery day. Also, I really need to be driving 2 days after surgery......has anyone had any issue with that?

    Any other September 2013 bandsters?

Hi everyone! My surgery is Sept 3rd and I am having so many emotions right now. Mainly its about my family and dog....and work....and the soccer team i am coaching. I am concerned about my life being interrupted for too long. Oh and i am starting an online class the same day ad my surgery. I think i am going to my grannys house the night before so i dont spend all night trying to make my house perfect.

    Stuck question?

I just completed a pre op nutrition class and he saud to sqeeze a lemon in hot water and drink slowly.
  12. Hi...i am getting banded sept 3rd too. I was hoping to have it on aug 27 but that was contigent upon someone canceling. Anyway i start my pre op on thursday the 22nd.
  13. My Pre-op starts next Thursday and I was told I can have 2 protein shakes of my choice and a lean protein with 1c veggies at dinner. Sorry you are having trouble with the taste...not sure what you can do about that besides convincing your dr. that they are not working for you.
  14. Ok, so my surgery is tentatively scheduled for Aug 27th providing there is a cancellation...if not it will be on Sept 3rd. I am wondering about a few things....maybe someone can help me. First...are spicy foods ok after surgery. I have this spicy hot and sour broth I would love to eat during the clear liquids phase. Second..I volunteered to coach my daughters U12 soccer team and there is no way of backing out and I have scheduled a practice 3 days after my surgery. Would it be unrealistic to think that I can go to the practice even if I am not active? Third...my husband just got a great new job and cannot request time off until after the 90-day period. Is it too much to think I can drive myself to the surgery and back home? I live 2 and half hours from the hospital by the way. I just have no clue as to how I am going to feel but I have been taking my vitamins, exercising and drinking 64plus oz of liquid and getting my 60plus grams of proteing every day. Thoughts are appreciated
  15. Well, it appears my surgery is scheduled for September 3rd. I was a little bummed out because the other date was more convienent. Anyway, I had to attend a nutrition class at my surgeon's office and I learned quite a bit. I was told no spicy food for the first 30 days......so much for the hot/sour soup I bought. Also, my pre surgery (10 days before) routine is as follows: Shower twice a day with anti-bacterial soap Use Listerine 3 times a day to kill bacteria in mouth No Birth Control pills No Vitamins No fish oil, garlic, ginger, cranberry supplaments After Surgery the following: Chewable Vitamin twice daily Calcium Citrate 1200mg - 1500mg a day Always drink hot lemon water in the morning first (also good for getting stuck food down) 64oz of liquid a day

    August 12th anyone!!

I will pray for you and it sounds like you are prepared. Keep me posted on your recovery. My surgery is on the 27th.
  17. Ok so I was picking up my daughter from daycare and speaking to a lady friend there about the lap band surgery and someone who had overheard the conversation decided to chime in and tell me how dangerous the lap band is and that there's a big risk of internal bleeding and blah blah blah... I just need to keep my mouth shut because other peoples opinions really bother me. The lady who put it into my conversation was thinner than a toothpick and had not had lap band or any of the weight loss surgery herself so I'm not sure she was qualified to advise me either way. I'm already pretty emotional trying to mentally and physically get ready for this surgery and comments like that just throw me off.
  18. Did you stay overnight or go home the same day? And congratulations!

I have not been banded yet but isnt the band supposed to restrict your eating. Can you just go ask for a fill? Congratulations on your weight loss so far...that is outstanding!

    Other peoples opinions

Thanks everyone...for some reason this really got to me and I wish I could have said. This just pushes me to work hard and make the band work in my favor. I understand that there could be complications but good things rarely come easy for me....and i am glad about that.

  24. I was wondering if anyone has had Dr. Krahn out of San Barnardino as their surgeon. If so, how was the procedure, pre and post diets and follow up care? Thanks

    6 more days left

Sarah, I am 2 and half weeks out and I am having the same thoughts. I was almost in a panic when they gave me a date because it became more real. I am just focusing on the positive like not having diabetes and having more energy to do things with my husband and daughter. I am such an independent person and the backbone of my family that being incompasitate for a short period of time scares me. I have started mainly focusing on cleaning my house from top to bottom, organizing bills and doing yard work to get ready for the winter. Doing all this stuff gives me less time to focus on unpleasant things.
