Post op soups and protein
Doing It 4 Them replied to Meintraining's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
I use Premier Protein. It's ready to drink and it has 30 grams protein. SAMs Club and costco carry it. I'm not sure of other places. I seen that some people eat Campbell's Soup On The Go. I thought about trying it but the sugar seemed high to me. Maybe it's just my paranoia of dumping. Lol. I see my nutritionist tomorrow and I'll ask her. I think the Protein Powder is good to use in hot liquid up to a certain temp. I'm not sure but it may be 140 degrees. I read it on here somewhere but I forgot the exact temp. Good luck with your recovery. : ) -

Any January 2014 Surgeries?

I'm a basket case!! I cried like a baby the other day because a man on tv was wishing his mother a Happy 90th Birthday. I was like oh, his mom is 90...WAH! Lol. It's crazy how emotional we become. I warned my family to overlook me. You're a strong woman to go through this while your husband is deployed. He may not recognize you when he comes home. : ) -

Like Kcamp said, everyone is different. I'm also 2 weeks out and still in pain. I feel faint when cooking or taking a shower. I guess it's the heat. I've seen that some people are like this for several weeks. Just remember, you are recovering from a major surgery. Take care of yourself and listen to your body. You know how you feel. I hope you have a speedy recovery. : ) -
It will start coming off. I can understand the aggravation. The pounds will start rolling off before you know it. : ) My surgery was 2 weeks ago. I came home 8 pounds heavier than the day of surgery. It took a few days for it to start coming off. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

What to bring to the hospital
Doing It 4 Them replied to blueyz80's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore the hospital gowns and socks to walk the halls. My packed bag stayed packed in the car. I only sent my hubby after my Chapstick and hairbrush. I packed my ipad, phone, chargers and an extension cord in a small bag. These are the items I used the most. The hospital had shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste and body wash so I used them. I also brought an extra pillow but my hubby used it to sleep with when he stayed with me. The hospital gave me a small pillow for the ride home and I definitely used it. -

There does seem to be a few fertile myrtles around here after surgery. LOL Thankfully my husband is fixed. I'm a 44 yr old grandma, I couldn't imagine having another child. Best of luck to you! -
Congratulations! Like most mothers we put our kids first. Good luck on your journey!

My Journey so far.
Doing It 4 Them replied to Sunlight61's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I had my surgery Friday the 17th. Like you, I was allergic to the hydrocodone. I had a blister on my butt, my calf and my stomach. I had hives all over me once I got home. I told the nurses I was itching a lot. I was told some people are allergic to the powder the sheets are washed in. They didn't notice the blister on my butt, my daughter noticed it while helping me use the bathroom. The nurses said it was a pressure sore. I didn't see how because I hadn't been sitting on my butt that long lol. My meds did get changed to morphine. I have to crush the pills because no pharmacy had liquid. I think the liquid hydrocodone helped with pain more even though I had the itching and hives. It is painful getting up. But we have to remember we just had major surgery. I'm hunched over like a little old lady as soon as I get up and start walking lol I also had the "why in the world did I do this" moment. I had to receive 4 units of blood while in the hospital. I couldn't get much walking in at first because of being lightheaded. My oxygen would go down if I walked much. I know why I did this... I want to be around for my family and my grandchildren. This thought is what helps motivate me. It's hard work.. But WE can do it! It doesn't help that I'm an emotional basket case either! I've told my family to ignore me if I'm crying because most likely nothing is wrong. Lol. It is hard to get comfy. I hate sleeping on my back. I hope you get to the point of sleeping on your side soon. I'm sure that will help so much. Good luck with your recovery...wishing you are speedy one. -

I'll have to try the Campbell's on the go. I have broth, but I'm not much of a broth person. I'm looking forward to the puréed stage next week. Do y'all get to eat cottage cheese and unsweetened applesauce? -

I haven't tried avocado. I've noticed a lot of people seem to eat it after surgery and wondered why. I'll give it a try when I'm cleared for it. -

Post-Op January 2014 Losers Club!

I had my surgery Friday and came home yesterday. I've had a rough recovery the first 2 days in the hospital. I had to get 4 units of blood but feeling better since then. I also had trouble with my oxygen level. It was fine as long as I wasn't doing much. But I'm off oxygen and home now. I'm trying to sip, sip, sip.. Wow, this is hard. I started Protein shakes today and I'm so glad I can tolerate my favorite, Premier shake from costco. I haven't been hungry or had cravings. I'm going to cook spaghetti for my family and grand kids tonight. I feel guilty that they have been surviving on frozen dinners and oodles of noodles for my son lol. Keep up the good work everyone and welcome to the loser's bench. -

Oh wow, I didn't realize some people have to do it for 2 days. I drink my Moviprep tomorrow starting at 6 pm. I couldn't imagine having to drink it for 2 days. I drank it in October and I gulped it down as fast as I could to get it over with. Lol. I'm not looking forward to it again.
