    Hi 1 Month Post Op

    The Incredible Shrinking Woman!
  2. The pre op diet is h*ll, no matter what version you have to do. I had a two shake, one lean and green plan for three weeks. Not awful but tedious as all get out. The first few days were the hardest, then I got into a routine and it got easier. When I wanted to do something srupid, I reminded myself what I was working towards and that the last thing I wanted was to wake up after surgery with no band because my liver was too big because I didn't stay the course. That kept me on track. Hang in there! It's only two weeks. You can do it!

    Goal Met: No Longer Obese

    That is fantastic.

    I'm Approved I'm Approved

Yay! Just follow the instructions given to you, relax and enjoy the ride. It may feel like a long time to go... It will go fast! That last month before my surgery flew!

    Before And After

Holy moley, girl! You are looking faaaabulous! You are rocking your band. I am so inspired by you.
  6. Bummer that you are allergic to the surgical glue. I have staples and I am so ready to have them removed. They are creeping me out! LOL

New Forum Is (Not) So Sad!

I don't mind the new site now that it is fully up and running and I am used to it. It looks good and is easy to navigate and so on... It works for me. I could wish for some improvements on the app, hopefully they will come in the future.
  8. Congrats on your surgery! I'm glad that you decided to go for it. I had diarrhea, too. Bad. I am still having trouble regulating my gut... From wgat I have been told, I am an unusual case.... lucky me. I am in contact with nurses at my surgeon's office and working with my health care provider, too. It's a process for me, and is dragging me down a bit as I also have hideous 'roids that won't go down because if the constant running to the bathroom. I am happy that I had my surgery and I am losing weight but my inability to solve this issue is horribly frustrating... I expected to be out for walks, by now but I am still stuck in the house. Get your gut issues solved asap! Trust me... You don't want to be at my stage and still down with this kind of problem. It's miserable. Good luck with your recovery and I hope that your gut settles down, super soon and you heal fast.

    Help! Banded This Morning.

My heating pad was huge for me for shoulder pain. It really knocked it down and kept me more comfortable. Liquid Motrin also helped. I didn't use the prescribed pain killer. Didn't need it but liquid children's Motrin (just double the dose) worked nicely to knock down the shoulder owies.

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

Aww... BrownEyes. Sending you a hug. I am so sorry that you have had such a rough time of it. I find a little timer to be invaluable in pacing my eating, too. I received a little goodie bag from True Results and one of the things in it is a little one minute hourglass. I use it to time between bites. It is such a great tool and it really slows me down.

    Anyone getting banded in Nov?

Oh man! Totally unfair! Keeping my fingers crossed for you.
  12. Best wishes for a smooth recovery.
  13. Congratulations! I hope that you get your surgery date, soon.

    New To This....

Speaking as a bandster not a doc... it's probably not a problem. Especially if you only did it the one time. BUT you really should follow your own surgeon's post op diet progression directions. Post op diet is so meh. But it is for our own good. It's designed to let our stomach heal properly and let our band settle into place and everything get ready to work together. I am in the first week of mushies... Have to do three, if I remember correctly. I am already craving solids. I am sticking hardcore to the plan. Bring on the Cream of Wheat. LOL
  15. Yeah... That'll probably do it. Amazing what kind of damage you can do on mushies, huh? You'll get back on track. Mmmm... Peppermint mochas...
  16. Girl, look at you. You are making fantastic progress. And may I just add... Snow. Ewww!

    Silly Question

I have a feeling that the appetizer section and kids menu are going to become good friends, in the future. I can fill up picking off of hubby's plate... I am about to become a very cheap date.

    Would Love Some Feedback

Oh I may have opened a Pandora's box here. I can relate to everything you wrote. I am so known as the funny gal in the office and yes..I often made self deprecating remarks about my size to try to avoid hurtful remarks. And guess where I was an hour ago? At the drug store buying concealer and a couple of softer shades of lipstick and new eye shadow. I don't like the bags under my eyes and I want to spiff up for work but in a subtle way so as not to bring too much attention. I'll get enough of it anyway coming back after being out more than two months. I look better than I have in a long time and the vanity is rearing it's head. I want to look good....it's been a long time since I've even bothered.... Nothing wrong with a bit of healthy vanity and taking care of yourself, looking your best and feeling good about yourself. You go girl! I love makeup. I buy too much of it, I hoard and adore it and I regret nothing.

    Banding 13/12/13

Wow. Major surgery and an infant. You are hardcore, girl! I don't know if I would have the ballz to do both. LOL I would advise making sure that you have plenty of help with Baby for a good week, you will need it. Taking care of the rugger is of utmost importance, of course, but so is your smooth recovery. If you don't allow yourself to heal and recover properly, you won't be able to take proper care of that precious little one. You both need lots of pampering care.

    Silly Question

I was perusing small forks and spoons on Amazon. I am debating ordering them... So far I am doing all right with a salad fork and a teaspoon. I do wonder, tho, as I start getting adjustments if I shouldn't have smaller utensils, as I will no doubt need to tighten up on bite size even more... Input is welcome, as I am new to this.

You have made such incredible life changes and it is only natural that these changes bring with them mental and emotional upheaval as you adjust to your new, healthier, more active life. I don't think that you should shut the thoughts and feelings down, I think that you need to let them surface, examine them, then reprogram them to fit your new reality. That is going to take time and effort and a lot of self care. Losing a great deal of weight, undergoing a huge physical change of any kind requires that our mind play catch up and that can take time. We need to be kind to ourselves, give it time and work through all of the feelings that come with it so that in the end, we are healthier in both mind and body. At least, that is how I see it.
  22. That is a bummer. I don't know how long it would have taken me to get a letter out of my PCP.. She is pretty open to to what I need, overall but was a bit gun shy when I mentioned the band, at an appointment, earlier this year. She did hint, when she put me on thyroid med over a year ago that it might help me with my weight... Uh... No. So, don't let amyone pull you into that trap. You need the thyroid med but you also need your band.

    Eating Too Fast?

True Results gave me a little bag of goodies including a one minute hourglass timer that is proving invaluable for teaching me how to eat at the proper pace. I have my bite size down and I am chewing like a fiend. I still want to rush... And the timer pulls me back and reminds me to slow down. Now, while my band is loose is good training training time for me, I have a little latitude before I start getting my first adjustments.

New Forum Is (Not) So Sad!

There are a couple of things that drive me nuts about the apps. First, when I get a notification that there are replies in a thread it would be nice if the app took me directly there. Second, the html in posts on the app. It is such a pain reading around and sifting through all of the code. Yikes!!!!
  25. It's all opinion. I am not a medical professional. Just another bandster who was trying to be nice to a newb while giving what I felt was sound advice that would not harm another human being. When you ask a question on an open, public forum you will receive a variety of responses, some of which you may not like. It is up to you to filter those responses and glean the information sought then toss the rest. Arguing with the respondents, calling us rude and other names for having the unmitigated gall to answer your question and perhaps humorously/sarcastically defend ourselves against charges laid at our door is a bit rude, as well. Look, Undertaker, I don't know what it is you want, anymore and to be perfectly honest, I am past caring, at this point. Maybe you had a legit concern, maybe you are just a drama queen sh*t stirrer. Whatever. I wish you and your band all the best in life. Take care.
