I am five days out. Thanks! I have been worried that something was wrong with me. I know I am probably swollen because of the hernia removal but I don't want to delay my healing either. I felt great today but Doc has me on a schedule to be eating fish/tuna on day 14.

I am the opposite and a bit worried. I am not hungry. I feel VERY full after 2oz of protein shake. I am not getting the minimum protein. I am able to take my vitamins. Water fills me up again. Not sure what to do. I hope it is better tomorrow.

I was banded on 7/23 and today isthe first day I feel good and have energy. Make sure you are getting protein and water. Dehydration can amke things worse. Protein willhelpwith the energy.

Where did you notice the loss first?
Mcrutchky replied to deleteme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
only 12 lbs so far but I notice my face looks thinner. -
I had my surgery on Tuesday. I went to my first post-op appointment today and explained I was having trouble getting my Protein and Water in. ..........my hernia was huge apparently. I was told to do protein shots and constantly sip water. Now I feel VERY FULL!! And the gas I thought was gone away seemed to come back.....maybe it was just traveling back to my shoulders. Anyway, I was told to expect to be sore for about a week. My doctor also told me I could do anything except lift over25 lbs nd and swim.

Rash on Stomach after Surgery, noisy stomach!

Ice on my incision and heat on my back ..........so nice for getting through the pain! -
My surgery was Tuesday. Still a little sore, but my doctor told my husband the surgery was longer because he had to fix a "huge hietal hernia" . So far the pain is not as bad today! So happy for all of you !

I get up and walk every hour, every two last night. I was banded yesterday. I hope we all feel better soon!

Dat 2: I slept in a recliner on our couch last night. My XL heating pad has been a lifesaver! Sore across my shoulders and upper back and under left armpit. The great advice that I have read here really has helped. I am concerned that yesterday I only took in 25 g protein and a total of 127 calories. I can't figure out how to get the calories and protein up. I can't dring my red prrotein shakes per hospita (said it would be harder to detect blood that way). So I have my lemonade flavor protein drink that burns as it goes down my esophagus (dr. fixed a rather large hernia) Any advice? I hope todo better today.

Waiting, Waiting And Still Waiting HuuuuuH
Mcrutchky replied to Patiently Awaiting's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Patiently Awaiting, I know I forgot to post it but Iwas banded yesterday. You are going to do great! I am sore but it was not as bad as I thought it might be. Invest in a large heating pad from Walgreens or someplace like it. It has helped a lot! -

Wow! Date set for Tuesday! Whoo Hoo!

Well, I told the kids last night. My 20 year old was concerned until I told him it was laparoscopic like my appendectomy a couple of years back. They are good with it. My daughter keeps asking questions, but she is naturally inquisitive. She has even tasted my protein smoothies because she is curious. -

So, I went to the surgeon today and he confirmed that I can have surgery Tuesday! This is my second day of all liquids. I guess it is time to tell my kids and my dad. I have avoided that until I had a date. My husband thinks I should not say anything to the kids until Sunday (so my 10 yo daughter won't worry so much) but I am not sure yet. The shakes aren't bad. I am on Bariatric Advantage.....up to 5 a day. Anyway! I am super excited and nervous, but it is going fast so I am relieved -
How long was your pre-op? Anyone less than a week? More than 2 weeks?

I told my dad. He is very supportive. He even admitted to me he has been worried about me with the health problems. My mom passed away at 43 with a heart attack. I am 44. -
Day three ,today is better for me. It sounds like Ketosis symptoms. I had a really bad headache and couldn't sleep well. Make sure you time your meal replacement shakes so you don't have excessive time between two of them. We can do this! Good luck!

My RN says it is ok to have some "real" non diet stuff.......sometimes. But always count it in your calories for the day. and always forgive yourself.

Thanks! You guys are great! Chicago Rose, you made a good point. Thankyou! -
I grow a lot of my veggies and this year we will have a lot of corn to "put up" in the freezer. Do any of you eat corn? Problems? Just wondering......
-
Thanks! That makes me feel a bit better!

Do any of you use firming lotions? What do you use?

I go to the surgeon tomorrow and my surgery could be as early as Tuesday. I am starting the preop diet today and am a little nervous. Will I lose enough? There is no set amount so far by the doctor, although he like for you to have lost something. What should I expect in a 6 day liquid diet?
-
Thanks! I guess I will just have to wait and see. Hopefully.......

Just wanted to share that I called the insurance company today and they have approved my surgery! I hope to hear from the doctor's office this week. This is a glowing bright spot in my otherwise bad week. ( I am officially unemployed, but am thankful for my husband's insurance! ) Nervous but excited. I really have been helped by reading everyone's posts. It calms me to know that my vast emotional waves are normal. I am so excited! Thanks to all of you! (y'all )

Did your Insurance require an overnight? I am glad to hear you are doing well!
