My symptoms were severe acid reflux and inability to eat solid food. Swallowing was becoming an issue in the days before removal.

My band slipped and had to be removed 2 weeks ago. I don't know why it slipped and don't really care why. i opted to not have it replaced or convert to another WLS. I have learned soooooooooooo much over my 7 years banded that I am confident I will be successful on my own. Already lost 7 pounds since the band was removed! i can eat again and I can't get enough veggies!

Going it alone. I have learned so much about nutrition over the past 7 years that I am confident I can be successful on my own. I still have it in my head that I can only eat bandster portions and I haven't really been hungry yet...and its been two weeks. I feel better physically than I have in a very long time. -
Would You Have Weight Loss Surgery Again?
SiouxsiQ replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
If I had it to do all over again, I would not get banded. i would have considered other surgeries but the band makes you FOREVER dependent on your surgeon and the more research that is done, the less doctors (at least at the University Hospital where I work) are recommending the band. -
Dr. Gerald Kirshenbaum - Considering Dr. Kirshenbaum

No clue what caused it. I haven't had a fill in years and there was zero fluid in the band. It had down to the bottom of my stomach and was only open 2mm. the upper GI showed a hiatial hernia as well, but when my new doc took the band off, my stomach went back into place with no hernia. I've been struggling for about a year with limited food choices and it has gotten progressively worse to the point of only liquids and vomiting almost daily. i was relieved and also shocked when the upper GI showed so many things wrong. -

Hi all- I haven't been here in a long time. So long, in act, i no longer have access to my old email addy and had to create a new user name. I'm DrewsLou and was banded by Dr K in May 2007. My band slipped and was removed 2 weeks ago. Was curious if anyone else has had complications?
