Sorry your feeling so poorly Debbie - hope it passes soon and your fit and well for the pre-op (just looked back and its TODAY! GOOD LUCK!) I was banded by Prof. Larvin and Lisa Rickers does my fills - they are really lovely people, nothing too much trouble for them and so helpful. I had a 14ml band and have 4ml in at the moment - its going slowly as I have some other stuff going on and am very stressed at the moment; but it is working - very best of luck to you and just work with it. x.

I was banded just over a week ago, Im mainly on fluids but must admit to having some baby foods at time, the tiny bit of texture seems to make me feel better than being on just fluids which I've found now make me feel sick. Usual day consists of as much water, tea, juice as i want, a baby porrige for breakfast, complan or such like for dinner and tea-time sees another baby food (aged 3-4 months is best - no bits!) then in the evening if i want anything i have it - so far I/ve lost 6kgs over the last week, dont feel hungry but that could be because its still all swollen inside.

Uncomfortable feeling in chest

Thank God for you all feeling the same - I thought it was me doing something wrong! I was banded on 3.Oct - so just a week ago tomorrow, I can take fluids ok, but then have terrible gas pains in my left shoulder, the port are under my left boob is very hard and sore - the only way I can lie comfortably is on my back. I seem to swing from having a grumbling tummy and feeling really hungry to having a small drink then feeling sick, bloated and "farty" . Im sure it'll go off given time and keep thinking Ive waited so long for this and finally I will lose the weight so it must be worth it! -
Finally got banded on Friday, now a bit sore, but back at home. So pleased I read about the wind pains here before I went otherwise woud have been very upset; but was prepared for it so not to bad. Got hiccups yesterday - bl**dy horrendous! So, heres to the next 4-6weeks of liquids, cant help feeling a little excited at the prospect of finally losing weight, slowly and in a controlled way. :tongue2:

I did meet Lisa Rickers, she was the lovley nurse who I & the other lady who was also banded at the same time had a chat to, very helpful and informative. Im just a bit surprized that 3 days later Im still burping and have gassy pain, but it is getting less and less with each day. Im trying to walk around and move as much as possible, so that should help.

Thanks Ann, Prof. Larvin did it - what a lovely man. I dont feel any restriction at all - which I understand is right, but Im a bit surprized the burping :tongue2: doesnt seem to be subsiding yet - and seems to be worse after having a drink of water! Anyone else felt this?

Thanks Steve, to be honest Im missing things like tea with milk in it at the moment, and white toast. I've waited so long for this and had such a terrible year, I really feel as though Im waiting for the next thing to go wrong all the time, although I can feel I've lost weight just on the pre-op diet; and I cant wait to be able to walk the dogs properly again. Thanks so much for your support. Katie Taylor | this is my daughters story if you would like a look.

OK - now getting a bit jittery, banding set for Friday and am dreading them saying my livers not shrunk enough and they cant do it - can they tell whether its small enough before they put you under? Also, was anyone allowed home the same day or is it usual for an overnight stay? I've stuck to the recommended diet rigidly, apart fromt he lapse on Sunday night when I had 2 weightwatchers slices of carrot cake - will they have thrown all my efforts out the window? Def. getting nervous.

Hi people, thank goodness for finding this - you're all my heroes! I was due to be banded at Derby last year bt then my daughter fell seriously ill, sadly she past away in June; so here I am back on the list. I had a phone call offering me a date for banding on the 3rd October, and I cant wait. I know nothing else works and this is my last chance, my joints hurt, I get breathless just walking across the road and I'm only 42 so bring on the band - I know it'll be hard, but its my only chance. Thankgoodness I've found you all!

:clap2:After waiting 14 months Ive finally got my date for my LB to be fitted, 23rd of Jan. in Derby - wish me luck as I wave me goodbye.......:whoo:

Wow thats some brilliant weight loss! Well done!!! Im on day 2 of the pre-op diet and apart from a couple of pangs its not too bad, lap band due to be fitted on 23rd Jan in Derby. Am actually quite nervous as theres a lot of other stuff going on in my life at the moment.

Go for it Shery58 - Im in England and waiting for a band to be fitted; I too am a bag of nerves; but have come to the conculsion that the alternatives that face me are even worse - so GO FOR IT! Girl and the best of luck!
-
Well done GC53! Just as a matter of intrest have you been able to drink fluids properly - or do you have the sensation of it "coming back", this is the main thing that worries me at the moment. Keep up the good work and fingers crossed you dont feel any bad hunger pangs!
-
Thanks anon; althought the wait "should" be 5 months from seeing the consultant to having the op. - I was first referred last October, so bearing that in mind it doesnt seem so quick. I've also been on Orlistat since then too - not much weight loss and really gross side effects!

Hi, Im from Derbyshire and on the NHS waiting list for a band. I had a consultation last week with the surgeon (Prof. Lavin) and was told it's upto a 5 month wait in this area. I'm not too concerned about the wait as it will give me plenty of time to get my head around the changes to my eating habits; but I must admit I really cant wait for a date to come through.
-
Wow - well done you! Keep up the good work (Coz I need the encouragement!)

Ive been lurking around this site for quite a long time, and now have finally plucked up courage and joined - so bee gentle! I live in Derbyshire, England and am on the waiting list to be banded.

Thanks for making me so welcome. Hi Inuk where abouts in the UK are you? - I originally asked my Dr last October about refering me, then I got an appointment for last week to see the consultant in Derby, for our area he says there is around a 5 month wait, not as bad as I anticipated for the NHS, I expected this to then be put infront of the local PCT but apparently they have already passed the finance for it, otherwise I wouldnt have got to see the consultant. My greatest fear was I was going to get all positive about this and then someone would say "No - she's not eligable" but so far, so good! With very high BP, BMI of 40 and a family history of strokes and heart attacks I feel this is my last lifeline - everytime I've been on a diet I ended up getting more down and putting weight on because I felt hungry so ...roll on September I hope!
