How to apply for my lap band ID card?
leighw replied to tamaraking's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow... I had no idea a card existed. I'm going to ask my doctor. Thanks all! -

Bravo....very well said! Getting healthy for my children is the ultimate motivator.

I am definitely feeling restriction and am doing well with my portions... If I can get my chewing under control and better train myself to slow down my eating, I am considering holding off on getting a fill for a while. Especially if I am still loosing weight. We shall see.
-
I very much agree... I actually am well into normal foods stage and just wanted to try a nugget for old times sake....so did not enjoy it and will not be eating McDonalds any time soon.
-
Good job! The true test is how your clothes fit.

I am a little over a month post op.... No fills yet either. I haven't gotten stuck but I definitely notice a "tightness" when I don't chew well and slow down my eating. My doc says that he has had some patients never needing a fill. Do you feel any "tightness" when you eat starchy foods?

McDonalds chicken nuggets are evil...lol....I tried one today and my band did NOT like it. Lesson learned indeed!
-
That happened to me too! It was horrid!

I burp constantly especially after eating... Luckily it's not not a full out belch as I try to be somewhat lady like... I've gotten so use to it I don't realize I'm doing it anymore. I hope I don't let it loose at work. How embarrassing! I was banded June 14th and my doc said it would go away eventually. We shall see

I know your frustration....I was banded June 14 and have lost 12 lbs (I actually gained a few back when I started normal foods)....I just keep watching what I eat and I exercise and then i tell myself it will come off eventually... My first fill is July 31st... We will see. Hang in there!

I am almost one month out. Feeling very good and back to normal. I have been tracking my calories etc on "my fitness pal" (keeping calories well under 1500) and been walking (could walk more but hard to find the time). I had lost 15 lbs after the initial liquid/soft foods stage but almost as soon as I started normal foods, I quickly gained back 5 lbs. Needless to say, I am so upset. I haven't had a fill yet (1st fill scheduled july 31st) but I have been feeling some restriction so I am eating much less. I know my doc said my weight loss would slow down until my first fill but he didn't say anything about gaining. Has anyone experienced this as well?

Thank you... I do feel like my metabolism is totally messed up. I need to stop weighing myself! Thank again.

Need some feedback. I am 4 weeks post op and am now on a reg diet. Started using "my fitness pal" again to help me keep track. Right now I have my calories set for 1500. I haven't had a fill yet so I am feeling very little restriction however there is some. My question is, did i set my calories too high? I'm not sure where I should be. MFP says I should be loosing weight with that number but I'm not sure. Feedback please......

Female...I am hungry and could easily go over 1500 if I wanted to but I am usually around 1300 or 1400. Can't wait for my first fill!
-
That's good to hear. I've gained a few pounds after I came off liquids and its a little deflating. My doc said the weight loss would slow down after liquids but he didn't say I would gain. I've even been pretty good! My first fill isn't until July 31st so I have a little while to go. I hope I can hold it together until then... Lol! Good luck!

Don't Be Like Me...
leighw replied to PrettyThick1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Me too... I'm over 2 weeks out and feeling great. I "cheated" as we'll over the last couple of days bc I became too complacent with my 15 lb. weight loss and, quite frankly, I wanted to eat. Two weeks of nasty protein shakes and mush will do that to a girl. I think I just needed to get it out of my system to get back on track. Started walking today and making better decisions with what I put in my mouth. I know this is definitely going to be a struggle but ready for the fight! Good luck!!! -
I am almost 2 weeks post op. I'm feeling great and just started soft foods, thank goodness! Just today, I starting feeling sad that I may never enjoy food again. I don't want to feel sorry for myself and I know these feelings all tie in to my issues/addiction/dependency to food. However, will I ever enjoy eating again even though I will be eating much less? Just wondering.... Thanks for your help!

Thanks all... Very helpful to hear! I just relate it to the morning sickness I had when pregnant. I remember feeling the exact same way.

Okay.... Had my surgery 1 week ago today. Over the last 7 days, I have been in the hospital 5 of them. Having some complications already (severe pain and nausea I have never experienced the like before). I'm starting to have regrets....how soon is too soon to decide to have it removed. If these "complications" happen again, I don't think it's going to be a hard decision. Am I crazy?
-
Thanks guys..quick update...I was actually admitted to the hospital bc the nausea and gas pain was so bad. Feeling better today and hopefully going home tomorrow. Thanks for your support and kind words. Ready to get back to normal!

Had my surgery on 6/14/13....nausea started today and I am just miserable. Doc has me on nausea meds and they are not even close to working. I so want to throw up but can't. This may sound gross but when i go to throw up, nothing but air comes out. Also having a hard time burping. Started taking some gas x. Some relief. I think all the air in my stomach is causing this. Can't sleep. Please pass on some encouragement to help me get through this. Struggling......

I am 5 days post op and the nausea started today and its pretty bad. I stopped the pain meds and the doc even has me on meds for the nausea. I actually think its air caught in my stomach that can't get out. Please tell me this gets better.

Bowel Movements Post Surgery
leighw replied to RFW's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Last night I actually think the pain was making me nauseous. My body wanted to throw up but nothing came out. I'll be glad to feel normal again that's for sure. I keep thinking "what the hell did I do?"....I don't want to think like that. Ugh...
