Laureli - you are too funny! But I agree! Why would we leave? It's taken way too long to train them and now they think that by us losing weight we're going to leave? Seriously? HA! BTW - good luck on getting approved. Let us know when you do!

Hi Cara! Welcome to band land. You'll have to tell us how your surgery goes. I'm sure it will be just fine. Hmmm.... why haven't you met your doctor? That's odd? So glad you got approved! Yippee!!!! As for you hubby saying you're going to leave him when you get skinny... mine is saying the same thing. It must be an insecure thing. I keep telling my husband that I'm not leaving unless he's planning on having an affair and then not only will I leave him but I'll make his life hell. hee, hee

TammyJ - I was wondering what the differences were. That's good to know. My dr doesn't want me to get a fill until May which would put me at about 10 weeks out from the surgery date on 3/12. So far I'm still losing weight and I haven't put any on. Thank God for that! What a bummer that you had to waste your time going yesterday. I would be so mad! Oh well, keep us posted when you actually get the fill. I'll be curious to see how much saline he puts in and if you get any restriction.
-
TammyJ - that's great. Let us know how your fill went. I had my band put in on 3/12 and I don't get my fill until May 22nd. I have the VG band which holds up to 11 cc's of saline. Which one do you have?

Hey Bobbi! you and I were banded on the same day! I didn't want to belive exercise was the key, but after walking 1.5 miles on Sat and Sun, I actually lost another pound! And I've been trying to use the stairs more often too. Every little bit helps. Before we know it we'll be looking good!
-
Good for you Mary! You'll see that once you see the pounds drop off you'll want to actually WANT to work out. Strange, but its true. Good luck and keep us posted on your progress!

I have to agree. I have been walking 1.5 miles a day and the pounds have been dropping off. The key is exercise. As much as I don't want to do it I know that its a MUST if I want to see the pounds come off quicker.

I don't want to tell people
Sandy replied to gettin skinny's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I told the people from work, only 1 person has been against it. Eveyone else has been encouraging and asking questions and learning from my experience and are excited for me that I'm starting a new life. Of course my family and close friends know as well. I didn't feel that I needed to keep it a secret. I was proud to be doing something positive and everyone around me has been positive as well, except for that 1 person at work, but hey she has her opinion and that's ok with me. I think if you are positive and happy about it, you'll find that most people around you are happy for you and are very encouraging. But you should do what is best for you. You know your family and friends best and how they will accept this decision for you. -
congratulations! Welcome to band land! I hope you feel better soon.

congratulations Sophie!! that's great news! Way to go!

Me too! I want something more solid! I go to the doctor on Thursday and I'm hoping he says I can start on more solid mushie stuff. Meatballs sounds really good! I'm so tired of creamy soups and mashed potatoes.

Hi Mike! Wecolme to th lapband land. What exactly did you not meet according to them? I swear, insurance companies can be so picky! Is there any way you find out what you need to do to get the band covered? Good luck and keep us posted.

Tammy - thanks for starting this thread. I was banded on 3/12/07. Lost 7 lbs before the surgery and now 13 lbs since the surgery... a tota of 20 lbs. all together. I'm feeling much better. I have an appt with the doctor on Thursday. I'm hoping he says I can start eating more solid foods. I've been on mushy foods. No fills yet.

I was banded in March, can I still join? My husband and I took a long walk today, it felt great. This is very encouraging! Thanks for starting it!!! :girl_hug:

Hi all! I was banded on 3/12/07. So far I've lost 12 lbs. I was a little sore after the surgery, but am feeling much better now. I seem to be stuck at the 12 lbs loss. I can't seem to budge from there. I go in next week to see the doctor. Just wanted to say hi to everyone.
-
Thanks all! Your encouragement has helped me tremendously!
-
Congratulations to all of you! You won't regret it, I promise! It's only been 3 weeks for me, but I am really happy I did it. I was a little sore at the beginning, but now all is good. Before you know it, you'll be welcoming all the newbies to the board. Congratulations again! And don't worry, everything will turn out ok. Mary1094 - keep us posted on your progress. I'll be thinking of you tomorrow.
-
Natesmomm - that's fantastic news!!! I wish I was already there, but I just started my journey. Where do you live? I wonder if the other girls have already started a support group. I hope they get back to us and let us know.
-
It's been 3 weeks since I got banded and my port site is a little sore, but a lot better than say last week. Every day it feels better.

Having Protein shakes really helps with the hunger. It's been 3 weeks for me and I'm feeling really good now. But I remember those first few days hurt a lot, especially around the port incision. Walking really helped. Also, try milk of magnesia to get rid of the gas and try to limit your dairy product for now too. Too much dairy might bloat you up, at least it did for me. Once I stopped eating dairy and did the milk of magnesia for a few days, the gas went away and I was feeling a lot better. And remember to drink plenty of Water too. Before you know it you'll be feeling good too!
