Insurance Doesn't Cover It, What Are My Options
jhshriver replied to Horus's topic in Insurance & Financing
Also, I want to add that I am self pay. My surgeon is in Cincinnati, Ohio and aftercare appointments for fills and such were part of the surgery price. -
Insurance Doesn't Cover It, What Are My Options
jhshriver replied to Horus's topic in Insurance & Financing
I would agree that you shouldn't be focusing on price. There are something's you shouldn't want to get cheap. One that always baffled me was discount laser eye surgery. Pretty sure discount surgery of any kind wouldn't be a good idea unless the professionals involved are up to snuff. -
Silly mobile app. Posting three times.

I'm in love with chocolate Ultimate Muscle Protein. It tastes like cake mix to me. Sometimes I add PB2 to make a chocolate peanut butter shake. My next experiment is adding chi tea flavoring to vanilla to see if I can make vanilla chi protein shake.

Don't Tell Me No Don't Eat That Tell Me Why!
jhshriver replied to chloesmom's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have this fear that rice will puff up and get stuck going through the band. I also don't eat it because of the high carbs. And to be honest I don't really enjoy rice. -
Help! Peanut Butter Is The Devil!
jhshriver replied to Bama53's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like peanut butter is a trigger food for you. I like to remember that peanut butter is ok in moderation, but sometimes I have to ban it from my life to get control. You could try eatting your dinner and then brushing your teeth to confirm for yourself eating is done for the day. Another option is plan the peanut butter into your day so you don't feel guilty about it. (typed as I gaze upon my peanut butter jar) -

Lapband for my brain!
jhshriver replied to Watchershrink83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm right there with you. For some reason I have a huge learning curve. I keep making the same mistakes over and over again. But I'm learning and I'm sure you will too. -
I haven't tried it yet, however I've seen pineapple juice as a remedy in other threads.

Also try standing up and walking around. Gravity sometimes helps me in that situation.

You may also want to find a counselor to talk to about food stress.

I still have dreams at night where I drink a nice cold Diet Coke.

ON MY WAY TO THE HOSPITAL

Good Luck today!! -
Give up the scale or cut it down to once a week. I turned my scale batteries over to my trainer when I found myself weighing 2-3 times a day. A scale is a tool and it doesn't run your life. Just keep tracking what you are eating and your exercise and stop stressing yourself out. Divorcing the scale is a hard process, but mentally worth it.

I was putting chickens breast and guacamole or humus into my ninja blender and blending till smooth. Looks kind if gross but tastes great.

Sigh. I know what I'm supposed to eat and not eat. But what did I do this afternoon? Ate a cookie and a brownie/cookie thing someone brought to work. So now I feel like crap and feel guilty. Sigh. Starting over next meal.

I'm addicted to Ultimate Muscle Protein (UMP). I swear the chocolate smells and tastes like cake batter. If I want to jazz it up a bit I add 2 tbs of PB2 to make it chocolate peanut butter flavor. I have also had the cookies and cream flavor and its good too.

First fill... Didnt go to great...
jhshriver replied to msidders79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
On my last fill the NP figured out that my port is hard to find when I'm laying down. It's easier to find my port standing up. Hope you don't have to go through that experience again. -

Do you have a nickname for your lap band?
jhshriver replied to LadyDiva618's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't have a nick name for mine, but my Dr. played along with my desire to pretend that my band is pink and covered in Coach "C's".
