  1. I am going to hire my nephew to assist me. I am so glad you brought this up heather 316...now I will be more prepared. I had not even thought of shopping for and carrying in groceries (think bags of dog food!) or walking my 35 lb dog who pulls on the leash. I will need more help than I realized.
  2. Ok, wow! Thanks, Heather 316, for bringing this up! I had not thought about bending over and lifting and vacuuming. I too live alone and I have a dog that must be walked alot. At least, I have a light canister vac that does not take much effort to use. Vacuuming alot is a must with a long-haired dog!
  3. Thanks everyone! Yes, I am pretty nervous as this is the first surgery I have ever had! But, I am also excited to start this process! Unfortunately, I now have three fewer days to prepare. This weekend will be super busy shopping for clear liquids (like Isopure, etc.), cleaning house and doing laundry...as I figure I won't feel up to doing any of that for a few days!
  4. My date has been movied up to Monday, June 24th! Three fewer days on the pre-op diet is fine with me!
  5. I loved them too with all those yummy additions (especially bananas). I had one almost every day. But these are not the kind of shakes you get pre-op or post-op. At least, not with my clinic. And I just looked at the type of liquids I can have post-op and it says protein shakes made without milk or fruit. Sounds pretty icky to me. I am looking into the Isopure high protein clear liquid drinks , but I don't know what flavor to buy. Would love hear suggestions from previous users!

    Today's the day

Will definitely be sending positive thoughts your way at 11! I understand your fear. I have never had surgery either so I will feel exactly the same way next Thursday! Can't wait to hear from you after surgery.
  7. I am using True Results in Houston as well. I have been very pleased with them other than the occasional long waiting times (I waited 4 hours to have my pre-op meeting with Dr. Reilly--yikes!!). I am self-pay and True Results was less expensive. I did a lot of research however and everyone seemed happy with True Results and the surgeons there, so I am happy with my choice.

    Pre-Op Shakes are AWFUL!

Was it the Premier powder you tried? What a shame! The Premier pre-mixed shakes are not bad--I have not tried the powder. Do try the pudding and a bit of fruit with it to see if that helps. Otherwise, try another brand. You will have trouble sticking to the diet if it makes you sick.

    Pre-Op Shakes are AWFUL!

The Premier Protein shakes (I find them at Kroger) in chocolate are good compared to most others and they are 160 calories, 30 grams protein, 3 grams fat, 5 grams carbs (1 gram sugar). I also tried the Ensure high protein. For me, they had a yucky metallic aftertaste.
  10. Hey, Heather 316, here are some protein shake ideas: If you are mixing them yourself, here is what I like: vanilla whey protein (I use Jay Robb protein powder--more expensive but not gritty and tastes good) mixed with FF milk, a teaspoon of SF FF cheesecake pudding mix, and a few frozen strawberries. My pre-op diet allows these additions. I have also tried making chocolate shakes with SF FF chocolate pudding mix and ice. I like the frozen fruit or ice because it makes it more like a milkshake.

    Pre op diet!

You two should contact your doctors about your blood sugar drops. The afternoon is when I get the most hungry and a bit shaky and so I have my fruit (usually an apple) and some V-8 juice mid-afternoon. That helps me. But I do not have diabetes. I would definitely check with my doctor to find out what to do to prevent those drops in blood sugar and how to prevent them if possible. The Premier Protein shakes have 30 grams of protein each--one way to get more protein..
  12. I am set for June 27th too! I started the pre-op diet a couple of days early and it is really hard. Protein shakes for breakfast and lunch, a serving of protein plus 1 cup of green veggies and 1 cup of fruit for dinner. It is a tough diet but I am losing weight so that's good.

    Pre op diet!

My surgery date is June 27th too. I started the diet a couple of days early because I am ready to get this show on the road! My pre-op diet sounds like yours. The first few days I had a terrible headache, but I am much better now. Still hungry but I am super motivated!
