First fill was on Monday and I am starving today!
txsonicguy replied to Bro Rob's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I had to talk assistant into 1.5 cc at my first fill last month. She was only going to do 1 cc. I've been crazy hungry since. -

pure protein shake drinks... yuck?

After trying several I locked in on the Premier Protein chocolate. I get by he case at Costco. One trick I learned on here is the COLDER the shake the more palatable it is. -
Foods that I'm loving right now...
txsonicguy replied to endingyoyo's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Was in Kroger yesterday picking up some meds and was really hungry. Tried to find a snack and found an Oscar Mayer lunch meat single package. It was 2 oz serving of lean ham (and turkey and chicken as well). 50 calories 1 fat 9 protein. Only cost a buck. Held me over till supper. Definitely going back to stock up. -
I've had such frustration with the lack of info from TR but I'm finally getting the "big picture". I'm happy now, but really wish I'd had everything before, or at least at my surgery date. Down almost 60 pounds since May28 and finally have direction on calories, Protein etc. Honestly I could feel some of my old ways slipping in the last couple of weeks because even after my first fill I truly don't feel as if I've had anything done. I realized I could eat anything I want, as fast as I want, as frequently as I want. Not a good thing for a food addict to learn. Glad I called and got the council before I went down the slippery slope that I'm sure we are all familiar with. Second fill on August 1. Hoping for a larger fill.

I've noticed you mention this comment about you not counting or restricting carbs. I find that interesting because I've gone from a complete carb-aholic to being almost afraid of them because of so many comments on this site. Maybe you've been asked this before (and if so I apologize) but with your success would you mind posting a few "typical" meal days for you and if there are any differences now than when you were 5-6 months post op. Thanks.

How do you see yourself
txsonicguy replied to EJRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm down 53 since starting pre op diet on May 28th and getting banded on June 12th. My wife claims she can see a difference - especially in my face. I personally don't see it. However - when carrying groceries out and MY PANTS FELL DOWN in the parking lot because they are too big and I'm out of belt holes is when I realized that I am seeing results. -
First Post op fill

My doc said no food before a fill. Liquids only. Look through your materials for info. -
So far new problem for me with popcorn. I buy a product called Skinny Pop (Costco) that is 150 calories for 4 popped cups. Often I just go for 2. Add a little butter spray and it takes away any deprivation feelings. It also sneaks into the movies in my wife's purse very easily! We also make our own microwaved popcorn that's fairly healthy Take a brown paper lunch sack Add 1/4 teaspoon healthy oil - I use EVOO 1/4 c popcorn kernels Fold bag over and staple once (no problem in microwave) Cook on high 2 minutes or until popping slows Pour into bowl and top with butter spray and salt if desired

Incisions/ Bandages
txsonicguy replied to BklynPenny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to just leave them alone. They fell off in about 4 weeks. -
It looks like you and I were banded pretty close together. June 12 here. I had my first fill two days ago and the had to remove one of the bandages from my chest. So I'm pretty sure that as long as you need it - which it sounds as if you do - you will get it. I felt - and honestly still do - the same way about eating whatever I want whenever I want. I have realized BIG TIME that I need to slow down when I eat. I took the recommendation from here and starting using a "toddler" fork and it has helped tremendously. Good luck!

As I pay more attention to making better choices, it amazes me how many calories I really used to consume. Took my nieces and nephew to lunch today at Mimi's Cafe (one of my favorite restaurants). Was very proud of myself - ordered egg white omelette made with turkey sausage, mozzarella cheese, broccoli, and tomatoes. I then only ate half. Previously I would have ordered corn chowder, chicken pot pie (1200 calories), and eaten most of the bread basket! Easily a 2500 calorie visit. Since I only ate half my meal I thought I'd be ok to eat half of the carrot raisin muffin that came with it. Glad I only ate half because later when I was logging it I discovered the muffin was 700 calories!! In this battle, KNOWLEDGE IS POWER!

I switched from Atkins to Premier Protein simply because nurse said I wasn't getting enough protein. They are pretty good I felt much better after I made the switch.
