    First "stuck"?

Pretty sure I had my first - albeit minor - stuck episode. My 5 year old and I I stopped for happy meals. I apparently reverted to my post band ways and was eating fries way too fast. Happy meals now only come with like 8 French fries so I'm not sure where I thought my fries would go. Anyway, about half way through the little carton I started to feel a tightening and pressure like I couldn't swallow. I figured it was either being stuck or it was "the big one". A couple of minutes of stretching and breathing deeply and I felt like it slid down. Not positive because Im still a newbie, but I'm assuming. No more fries for this dad. It was a horrible feeling.
  2. That's where I got mine. You should attend the support group. Second Wednesday of the month at 6:00 pm.

    yogurt&mini egg omelette

Check your doctors list. eggs weren't on my "soft" list. As far as having both, again consult the list. She should have listed an amount per meal at this point. If its not - call. Don't take chances. Good luck.

Each surgeon is different. Mine does 24 hours liquid then 24 hours mushies. I recommend you follow your doctor's protocol.

    Time for My Fill

Had to wait 4 weeks for first fill - banded June 10 - but now getting fills every 2 weeks. This last fill yesterday is the first time I feel like the band is helping my appetite. Been getting 2 cc each fill so far.

    Had surgery!

Mine was about a week, but everyone is different. Gas X and a heating pad did the trick. Congrats on the surgery!
  7. I think you'd know by now if you'd done damage so I'd stop worrying. I would recommend following your surgeon's plan from here on out.

    1400 Calorie a day

The one thing I would add is to NEVER make a major decision that effects your health based solely on OPINIONS from on here. Discuss with your surgeon. Many people can't possibly getting the proper nutrition the body needs at 500-600 calories. I remind myself that I didnt get to 475 pounds overnight - not gonna undo it over night. I'm down 70 pounds since June 1 (10 weeks) and it really started coming off when we upped my calories to 1800. (I am 6'1" and male so....). Have had 2 fills and another one this Thursday. I still feel no restriction so it's ALL willpower at this point. Do you ever watch the ABC show Extreme Makeover? A couple of weeks ago, there was a guy on there that was losing very quickly and doing it with mostly liquid Protein shakes. When the doctor ran a blood screen to see if he was a candidate for skin removal removal surgery, it was discovered that he was extremely malnourished. He had to up his calories and get his protein from solid sources. My nutritionists said almost the exact same thing to me a few days later. It really hit home.

    NEED tips: eating & drinking

It's hard learning these methods for eating when you don't need to yet. Hopefully if I continue to practice these habits, by the time my band actually starts restricting my diet I will have learned how to eat with it.

    Rev Wraps?

Bought some tonight for kids lunches. They are really small for 220 calories. I'm all about maximizing my satiety vs calories ratio and not sure these are gonna cut it. They look god though.

    Needing some HELP!!

As a "big boy" myself, you have to balance a new way of eating (small bites, eating slowly, no drinking, etc) with a HEALTHY amount of calories for a full grown guy. I work with 2 nutritionists - one at True Results and one at my gym. We've settled in on 1800 calories. If I stay at that I lose (70 pounds since May 28). If I go below or much above I don't. Now calories are individual - I'm 6'1" so not a small guy - so you need to work it out with your surgeon. As far as being able to eat the pork chops, etc - you are still early enough that obviously you CAN eat that meal, you just SHOULD not. Calorie wise the Mac n cheese (one of my favs) is probably 400-500 calories for a small portion. My Fitness Pal has been a god send as it helps me keep my calories in line, and also make sure I'm getting at least 80 grams solid Protein. It is hard. I too don't yet have the benefit of the band controlling my appetite. It's taking a TON of willpower right now as I build up my band. I'm hoping that the point that my willpower typically gives out intersects with getting my band somewhere in the green zone. You can do it. We all can.

    Coke?

I was told to limit soda, and never through a straw. I was told to pour the soda over ice and allow time for the carbonation to subside. Haven't had any issues at all. But as others have said - ask YOUR doc and follow their guideline.
  16. Just had to share that today I picked up a box of Skinny Cow Snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches. 140 calories, 2g fat, 4g Protein. It's 2 oatmeal Cookies with cinnamon ice cream sandwiched between. They are SOooooo worth the calories!

    Spicy food after surgery

You know i think so much of it is how spicy foods are presented to you as a child. Our oldest was born back idaho years ago. She is ok with salsas as long as she can add ranch dressing . Our 5 year old is a true born Texan boy and loves the spicy foods.
  18. I'm sensing the importance of getting to green zone and see the importance of it. I've lost 42 nice June 12 and 67 since pre-op started on May 28
