Some people just have port pain but personally my pain was similar to you (fine at first, got worse) and it ended up being an infection and it took 2 months to clear up. Better to stop it earlier. You can ask the doc to run some test and see what the infection is (staph, bacteria, ect).

Once there was a young man -
whose eating was getting out of hand -
He ate all day -
and some will say -
he needed to get the lap band
---------------------------------------
He didnt listen to the talk
even though he couldnt walk
he stuffed his face
with ice cream and cake
and still ignored the lapband
---------------------------------------
Then came the day
His kids wanted to play
He tried to get up and run
but after 5 minutes he was done!
he decided to get the lap band
------------------------------------
A few years down the road
He doesnt carry such a load
give him a hand!
he got to wONEderland
all because of the lap band

The band makes me freak out about things but I had acid reflux and night coughs BEFORE being banded when I got sick. Just another wonderful thing to add to my list. But it is always best to rule out anything band related

It sucks that it take so much guess work

Same as the fellow posters - I haven't given anything up. I do miss soda not because of taste but because of the convenience

I eat 1400- 1500 calories daily. Any less my weight loss stalls. Your metabolism is a factor in calories as well

Purpose?
1) I was wondering why you signed on to this site?
To keep an eye out for those who I have made friends with and chat.
Also to read anything that sticks out in forums to see if I can learn from it or help someone else
2) Why are you still here after a year?
Is hasnt been a year and thus the rest of the questions are not valid for me to reply to

Even following all my doctors orders I also had an infection in my port incision that lasted 2 months until it finally healed. It took 3 antibiotics for it to clear. It happens, you just got to accept it and deal with it. Even it hurts like hell. In time it will get better. Just make sure to take your antibiotics everyday because if the infection reaches your port it will have to be removed (according to my doctor). I am allergic to adhesive so on top of my infection my stomach was angry and red from the Tegaderm and paper tape

My favorite line is, I keep drinking with meals...it's sooooooooo hard to stop...WHO ELSE DOES THIS??? PLEASE SAY LOTS OF YOU DO IT TOO SO I CAN JUSTIFY MY STUPID BEHAVIOR PLEASE.
<insert sensible comment from lap band veteran about how this will dilate their pouch>
THIS SITE IS TERRIBLE AND NO ONE ENCOURAGES ME!!! WAAAAAAHHHHHH :'( :'( :'( BOO HOO!!! WHY DOESN'T EVERYBODY AGREE WITH ME AND SAY WHAT I WANT TO HEAR?!?
(me lol'ing)
On another note -is that what happens if you drink with meals? Your pouch dilates?

I had an open book policy as far as my WLS goes and funny enough my "slimmer" friends and co-workers were all like AWESOME! CONGRADS! Whereas my "plus" friends were like - "why would you do that?" "that it too dangerous" - strange, are your friends plus sized themselves?

haha 40 pounds a month is VERY unrealisitic. Try 5-8 pounds a month in the "green zone". Please remember there is a large percentage of the lapband community that 1)does not post or 2) doesnt even go on this site!!! My doc has performs 100's of surgerys and only 10 of those are registered on this site. I have had 1 fill and I am at 7.6cc and still not where I should be restriction wise. Dont compare and stay off the scale - look for non scale victories like fitting into an old pair of jeans, climbing the steps without loosing breathe. You will mentally destroy yourself if you KEEP checking the scale. And if you still arent losing then reevaluate your food and exercise.

How many calories are you eating? If I eat too little (1000cal) I dont lose, My losing calorie range is 1400-1500
-
You got to follow your doctors orders. I didnt have cream based Soups until day 10 - but I had complications from surgery. Another suggestion would be to take the liquid from a pot roast its really delicious when on liquids.< /p>
Is your nutritionist and doc on the same page?
Mine often contradict each other. My NUT put me on 1000 cal diet where my Surgeon said I wasn't on a restricted calorie diet

Its been 2.5 months since I had surgery. I have lost 40 pounds. I still eat everything I ate before surgery but just a lot less. For example before surgery I could eat 2 eggs with cheese, a whole bowl of grits, and 2 large diced potatoes and maybe even some french toast. Now I eat 2 egg whites and 1/2 bowl of grits.
I make sure my Indulgences far and few in between but I have had Reeses, birthday cake, Cookies, fried food ect. I just dont do it everyday.
I still eat Pasta and bread - I only eat whole wheat now but I was doing that before surgery anyways.
I also dont count calories but I am calorie conscious. For example I just got home from eating Sticky Finger's Ribs & BBQ. Well I found out 6 wings was 800 calories and catfish was only 200 calories, so I went with the catfish and some corn. I dont feel deprived in anyway I just enjoy much less (I only ate 1 catfish filet and a couple bites of corn, the rest went to my boyfriend whereas before I would have eaten all of that plus and appetizer and dessert)
And I havent exercised much, teaching is my exercise and running around my room to keep paint and glue off the floor
Like you said as long as you are okay with with not eating crappy food (meaning quality) everyday or even every other day I think it might be something you could be successful at.
Now some people will swear up and down on not eating carbs and doing cardio everyday and not cheating with any sweets and AWESOME for them - they are losing faster than me but for me this is what I do and will keep doing until its not working anymore

Mine has 5.6cc put in during surgery

Hi
My band was fitted empty and is a 10cc band. I have had a number of small fills and like you am now at 4 and am at restriction. Think how much you need in there is very different from person to person. If you are feeling full already at mushy stage I always find I am fuller even quicker with solid food so it may be that 4 is enough for you
This could be true but at 2 weeks out the stomach is more than likely still swollen. My hunger didnt kick in until week 3

I didnt get a fill until 2 months after surgery (not by choice) but I was losing 2 pds a week, eating 1 cup 5 times a day - about 1400-1500 calories. The only reason My doc gave me a fill is because he wants to work on getting to 1/2 cup 5 times a day, but I could have said no since I am on target. Its just up to you, and your personal goals. You are still on mushies so surgery wasnt that long ago I assume. I would definitely wait until closer to your fill date to make a decision.

Every person is different. I lost 6 pounds post-op some people loose 10, 2, 7, it varies.

I used to live 20 minutes from Fayetteville but Im back in Charlotte now. Good luck with restarting your path
-
I was on Dep for 6 month a few years back but it caused me to gain weight and broke my face out horribly
-
I was up a few pounds for two weeks until my swelling went down. Each persons body has a different reaction to the surgery some people lose 10 pounds week 1 others swell and gain 5. Unless you are drinking gravy and fat I doubt you've gained weight if you are drinking liquids during this time.

I'm a teacher and feel the same way. I always keep a bag of cut up Protein Bars so I can pop it in my mouth chew and keep going on hectic days. The only part that sucks is drinking because when I have a minute to drink something its usually the same time I have to eat. So I eat instead of drink and try to get in most my Water after work. Scares me sometimes because I dont want to get dehydrated.
