Oh no! Food Stage Confusion!
SolracSpree replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wish my surgeon was like that! But then again, he would be tired of my calls lol. I have seen my surgeon 2 times once before surgery and the day of surgery, Sadly the number of bariatric doctors around here are veryyyy few. I gotta take what I can get I guess. All of my post of appointments are with assistants in the office. Each time with a different assistant. Count your blessings, your lucky to have such an involved doc! -
Oh no! Food Stage Confusion!
SolracSpree replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As I was reading this I felt as if you were scolding me. Not sure if that was your intention or not. . . At any rate Monday when my office calls I will be calling my nutritionist to see if what I ate will cause any damage. As for following the diet, I do not blindly follow anything given to me, I ask lots of questions, if I didnt then I would not be who I am as a person. If something doesnt make sense i'm going to call it out. There is obviously no one way to eat after post op. Thats why I wanted everyone else opinions. Anyway I will have answers on Monday ( as long as my office actually returns my calls ) -
Oh no! Food Stage Confusion!

Isn't it weird that each doctor has a different post op procedure. Last time I checked we all had the same surgery.... maybe I got the lapband that require 6 weeks before eating normal food while the other person got the lapband that requires 2 weeks....... NAH... thats sounds a little crazy right? -
Oh no! Food Stage Confusion!
SolracSpree replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Right now thats WHY i am eating it. I have to eat these things just to reach my 1000 calorie mark. Once I can eat more complex foods I wont be eating it anymore. -
My discharge papers said 3 weeks before I could drive again! After I concluded that was ridiculous I just waited until I stop taking the Lortab now I can drive whenever.

Oh I definitively agree there are lots of healthy things I want right now but just cant have :'( in 3 weeks when I am on solid food I plan on not going back to mashed potatoes / mac & chees / Soup. I am CRAVING some grilled zucchini, squash and steak! Soft foods just annoy me lol. -

BTW I am 12 days post op as well! I am still on liquids though

Until you get your fill do as you were in the beginning to control hunger, get a low calorie high protein drink. The protein will keep you fuller longer and low calories/carbs wont harm you in the end. Hope this helps, sucks when you are hungry and feel like you can still eat! Also sugar free popsicles and Jell-O.

Officially nervous about recovery pain
SolracSpree replied to Shante92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Each person is different. I am someone who experienced ALOT of pain until about day 7 post op. I was frustrated because like the post above me everyone else was okay by day 3. To be honest I cried days 3 - 5 because I thought my body was rejecting the band and I wanted it out of me. On Day 3 I ran out of pain med and didnt get a refill until day 5. Those days were horrible. I am 14 days post op now and mostly fine other than some pain from my incisions (I think they are infected). Each person has a different reaction to surgery. I know once I came out of anesthesia I started thrashing & screaming in recovery because of the pain and disorientation. I might have done extra damage then to make my recovery time longer... who knows. -
Day of surgery no more than 2oz every hour. To get both liquid and Protein I did Isopure drinks. I lived off those for 8 days. Day 2/3 after you can eat/drink 4oz every hour. What I did to see how much I was eating/drinking was buy some dixie cups (3oz) and alternated Water and protein. The serving size is perfect.

Pre-op diet killing me mentally!
SolracSpree replied to Shante92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Some surgeons assign 100% liquid to test dedication. My doc said that I needed to get used to being on liquids only anyways because after surgery I would only be allowed to have solids and it makes the transition easier. My doc is no joke though. I would have killed to have meat during those 2 weeks but in the end my doc was right. I couldn't even tolerate anything more than Clear Liquids for 1 week post op. In comparison though my post op liquid diet has been 100 times worse than my pre op liquid diet, so ready for pureed food!!! -
Very active before lap band, worried about endurance post-op
SolracSpree replied to beanie80's topic in Fitness & Exercise
At 6 days I could walk down my apartment stairs (3rd floor) let my dog use the bathroom and walk up. I would be ready to passout after just that! -
Has anyone else felt this way?

I cant speak from experience because im only 13 days post op, but I read a lot of post on this site and something I see a lot from people who lost their way is to start over again. Back to liquids and go from their. The only way you can do that is "ok i made a mistake" take that and move on. If you hold on to the guilt you wont be able to make progress. Everyone is human. You can do it! Talk with the BF too, you have to have someone who is willing to support you when you need it the most! -
It was Day 3 post op for me and it kicked in HARD.

I am young too (23) and I was feeling the same way as you and here I am 10 days post op. Just think of this as a tool to change your life, I am on liquids only and I am like...omg when can I eat food again, surgery doesnt make anything mentally easier but I know the PHYSICAL limitations I have in me now and it does help. For example 1 can of tomato soup has lasted 4 meals. Before.... try 2 cans and some crackers for 1 meal. Look inside yourself and you will find the answer, its not easy by any means. I realized how much I depend on food and and its it just crazy, slowly my mind is putting priorities in place and I dont think it could have been done without the band

What is the typical length between first consultation appt and surgery??
SolracSpree replied to ldill's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was covered through my insurance my first "hey what is this about, is this something I can do" appointment was March 13th I was scheduled for Surgery June 20th -
I am Day 9 now. My pain did not come from a hernia but I understand your frustrations. I had to get my doctor to prescribe me more lortab. You are not alone in your struggles it was a few days of misery and pain before I found a system that kept me from starving. What type of protein are you eating? My body is completely rejecting power protein. Once I switched to isopure protein (clear liquid) my body has gotten so much stronger. What I had to do was buy dixie cups (3oz) and filled up a cup to drink every 30 minutes if I was hungry or not. It allowed by body to take in the protein I need and once the pain from hunger disappeared it never came back. I hope you find relief from your pain I know i regretting my surgery in the beginning and was hoping to be like some people who were "so happy" and trust me it gets better, you'll get closer and closer each day. Well wishes going your way!

Pre-op Diet for two weeks!!!! Ahh!!!
SolracSpree replied to Apples1184's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Yeah surgery went along as scheduled, my surgeon said he was very proud of my weightloss before surgery. Like I said it is really about shrinking the liver so that it is more easily moved and they way to do that is Protein protein protein. I worked out at the gym Day1 - Day 7 but then stopped the last three days but it was mild exercise mostly weight machines maybe 2 reps of 20.
