Aug 20th! That's six weeks in. Is that normal? I have a feeling I'm going to hit that bandster hell everyone talks about and starve, thus putting pounds back on. How long are the appointments? I don't want to get stuck there for another hour like before. Glad you're returning to a normal diet. It gives me hope! I do wish you the best, Msapp. Keep smiling, even though it might just be gas! Awwww... Thanks for checking in on me! I'm doing quite well for a wimp. (What guy isn't?). Some port pain still but that's to be expected and I have Mr. Lortab on call when needed. Getting tired of shakes, Jello and other liquids but I get to move on to mushies in a couple days. Woo-hoo! Now, if I can just figure out how to fit a Big Mac in the Nutra Bullet.... How are you?

I am still in week one post-op. Yummy liquids! I know this is much too early to ask but what are your thoughts on sunflower seeds after my mushy stage? Shelled in mouth, hull spit out. It's a baseball right of passage! Any thoughts other than the fear of an unshelled hull going solo or an improperly chewed seed making a break for band land?

You're the bomb. So funny, too. I'm down 20 lbs so far. About 50 to go and then just try to maintain from there. I live in the Tempe / Ahwatukee area. msapp, you crack me up! Your posts are very funny and very real-life. Maybe that's why I like reading them. They kind of touch on what I'm feeling or what I'm soon to be feeling. We were actually in the same "cattle call" class together at True Results. I was to have my surgery at around the same time you were but out of nowhere my dad needed bypass surgery so I've had to postpone until I could get him back to normal. SO, finally my surgery is Friday! Yikes. Scared to death, lots of doubts, etc. But reading your posts, especially this one, gives me hope that all will be ok. I guess inhaling a chicken breast is better than a Big Mac, fries and shake, right? Either way, hang in there. I think you're going to be just fine. Actually, I'm counting on it! Now, if I can just survive this crazy preop diet. Shake anyone? Blech . . .

Count me in! Friday the 26th is D-day! Scared to death but looking forward to a better life.

Ok, so I am scheduled to have my surgery on the 28th of this month. Scared to death. I almost backed out of everything after a panic attack yesterday. I never have panic attacks. Ever. But obviously this is a big deal and a complete life changer. It wasn't until after I found this support group that I changed my mind to go forward. You were all very informative and encouraging and for that, I thank you all. I still have SO many questions and concerns but I won't list them all here, don't worry! I guess my first question is has anyone had their surgery done by Dr Nirmal here in Tempe, AZ? Or heard about anyone using him as a surgeon? Any help would be most appreciated. Dave

Thank you, Jam2009! I did actually do a lot of research on the doctor and looked him up inside out and sideways. I even had a couple people personally tell me they were happy with him, but it never hurts to ask a large forum like this one just in case someone knows something I don't. Appreciate your insight and encouiragement!
