Slim Fast ... Protein Shakes
Monica74 replied to winitown's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm four weeks post op. Did your surgeon give you a specific pre-op diet? Mine didn't make me do the liquid diet prior to surgery so I just ate healthier and didn't starve myself. Protein shakes are pretty unpleasant so I wouldn't subject myself to them if not required... -
Question for all Post Ops
Monica74 replied to shawna29's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm about 4 weeks post op and I can tell you I've saved a lot of money as I haven't gone out to eat much this month. My appetite has been pretty much non-existant so it's very easy to say no -
Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the positive attitude

Had my surgery on 6/20/13 so tomorrow I'm four weeks out. Having trouble getting all the fluids in - there is just no way I can get 64 oz in!! It takes me all day to get 32 oz down. The past two weeks I've felt totally exhauste. At my two week follow up my surgeon told me the exhaustion was due to dehydration so she put me back on clear liquids and wanted me to concentrate on getting 64 oz in. Any tips on how to get it all in - really sick of propel...

My surgery was on June 20th so I'm in my third week. This week started feeling super fatigued and had constant stomach ache. Even water wasn't sitting well. My husband helped me figure out that I haven't been getting enough protein. Started feeling better once I started more protein. My surgeon's instructions for post op meals isn't very specific. So I'll have a million questions for her and the nutritionist. Any suggestions for high protein breakfast? I've been eating 99% fat free refried beans, soup, and greek yogurt. Getting sick of that. I'm going back to work this week and trying to figure out what I'll be eating...

Newbie - Pre-Op Scheduled for 6/20/13
Monica74 posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi all! Can't beleive I'm less than a week away from surgery. I'm 38 and know that I'm doing the right thing but am still pretty nervous about the surgery. I can't seem to wrap my mind around the fact that I won't be hungry. Just a very strange notion for me I've got a really busy life so I don't think I will miss all the food very much. I've got a supportive husband and two wonderful kids ages 8 & 18. I just completed my masters degree and am glad that I get the chance to address my long standing weight issue. I want to be seen for the smart and confident person that I am inside - not the fat & lazy person people perceive from my appearance. I'm all ready for my surgery but have an issue I'm some of you non-newbies can help me with. I'm going on vacation about a week after surgery and won't be able to eat with my family. Any tips on how to handle going to dinner and not eating? -

Don't ever quit - take your life one minute at a time. Life can be very overwhelming as you know. Surviving this world is a huge accomplishment. Focus on the good things even if they are small. You are worth it even if you don't think so. I know words are just words and I don't know the details of what you have been through but I hope you can find the strength to hold on and focus on what is good in your life.

This is my first post & I'm new here too! I'm scheduled for June 20 which is now less than a week away. I've done massive amounts of research and consider myself completed educated on the procedure but I'm freaking out anyway. I just can't wrap my mind around the idea of not being hungry. I'm also very nervous about the surgery but excited too. Weird feeling but everytime I've taken a risk in life it always turned out to be for the best. Just keep beleiving in yourself and everything else will work out

Good for you! I'm preop too and am so afraid of kicking my soda habit! I know I can do it and that it will be worth it in the end. Glad to hear it can be done
