  1. My nutritionist organized a shopping trip with her patients. We found this dip and she gave a hearty approval for it. I bought the onion flavored one as well. Yummy. I eat it with a couple of multi grain crackers or some crunchy veggies.

    my breakfast plate

I shared my bacon this weekend! My sister, my niece and I went to Cracker Barrel for breakfast Saturday. I ordered something with eggs, grits and 3 slices of turkey bacon. I gave my niece a slice of the bacon, we all three nibbled at the grits and I ate about 1 scrambled egg. They have grown to expect me to share my food with them and the little one gets a bit offended if I don't...LOL I love the idea of shirts with "share my bacon!"

    Help in choosing a bike...

I had great luck with Dick Sporting Goods...I realize it's a "big box store" but the guy there fitted me on a bike, we talked about how/where I was going to ride, and he suggested a hybrid. I'm totally in love with my bike. I realize I got lucky that this guy was so awesome, and that you will likely have better luck at a local bike shop. I'm already building that relationship at a store in my neighborhood. Soon you'll be out there singing to the deer while you ride...wait...perhaps I'm the only one who does that...hmmmmmm

My hair is falling out! Help!

I just took the equivalent of a small kitten out of the shower drain. It's coming out like crazy. But everyone...and I mean everyone (doctors, nutritionist, friends online, hair stylist) all assure me it will eventually stop and grow back in. So, I'm choosing to stress over other things...like which flowers to plant in the yard Hang in there!

    Share Your NSVs Here Please!

A friend was running a 1/2 marathon today. I took her daughter and found a spot along the course, on a nasty mean hill and cheered her own. We stood for over an hour cheering on many, many other runners before she came along. We jumped in the car and headed to the finish area. We had to walk nearly a mile from where we parked to where we met up with the runner...and then back again. And I DID it without even thinking about it...and even walked around the mall later in the day. Yep...this band is a keeper

    surgery tomorrow

Good luck tomorrow! Let us know how things go. Take it easy for the next few days. Let that hubby pamper you
  10. If it helps, I'm almost 6 months out with no fills, and I often have to remind myself to eat. My cravings have started creeping back in, but my body lets me know it's hungry in different, more subtle ways. It's interesting. I have a routine that my nutritionist and I have worked out. I eat small meals throughout the day. I don't track my calories religiously, but I estimate I'm around 1,000 most days. When I was first banded, I was lucky to get in 600 each day. As 2muchfun says, be sure to take your Vitamins. And make sure you stay hydrated. (I wasn't so good yesterday and I felt horrible at the end of the night...drink your water!) Take this time to figure out the new signals your body is going to give you. You are going to do great things

    Dating and Restaurants

SO many people eat the way we do...high Protein, low carbs...without the lapband. I've never had any trouble eating at restaurants. I just grin and tell the waitstaff that I'm a picky eater and I'm going to challenge them. Then I customize my order. I've only had one waitress give me grief and when I put her in her place at the end of my meal...well...she won't do that again. And, I've never had anyone at the table (who didn't already know about my band), ask me why I'm eating the way I do. If you just order with confidence, act like it's no big deal, then no one is going to care. Focus on your date and all the rest will fall into place Good luck!

    Surgery in 3 weeks

Congrats! I've not had any issues with parties/social events. I'm not much of a drinker, so that wasn't an issue anyway. But when it came to food choices...well...you make the best choices you can with what you have. Take something in your purse that you can eat. I survived the holiday season with only a few people asking why I had so little on my plate...and I just told them I wasn't really hungry. Not a lie I know for me, when I'm out with friends, I make it about the people...not the food or drinks. I'm not hanging out at the chips waiting for people to talk to me. I'm following people around the room, laughing and cracking jokes. Who has time to focus on food when you are focusing on friends? You'll suddenly realize this for yourself one day and think "That SillyAuntDi chick was right." LOL Good luck! Keep us in the loop as you get closer to surgery!

Yawning.? Nose dripping? SOFT SPOT? Say what?

I get a little, quiet burp when it's time for me to stop. If I ignore it, I get the big, wall-shaking belch that clears a room....and some unhappy minutes to boot. So, I have learned to slow down and listen to my body.
  15. I had never been so excited to eat a scrambled egg in my life. I think that was first. It may have been yogurt. Funny, now I cannot tolerate scrambled eggs. I eat yogurt daily. Good luck! Those first few weeks are the hardest. It gets much easier as you progress.

7.5 mile bike ride...and only one hill I walked up today! It was a last minute change in course and an unexpected hill...evil little devil. Have a nice day, Banders!

    April Fitness Challange!

I skipped boxing yesterday, so only 2 classes this week. I just got back from a 7.5 mile bike ride and only walked up one hill...at the end of the ride. Happy Saturday!
  18. I'm also in therapy and it was a GREAT help. She and I talk about every two weeks. It is an important part of my process. I'm glad you have that resource in place

    April Fitness Challange!

I've made it to my boxing class twice this week....and planning to go again this afternoon. My bike will hit the trails in the morning. Happy Friday!
  20. Welcome to the family! Number one, as others have said, listen to your doctor. Ask them questions...lots of questions. We will be here to give encouragement, and little pushes when you need it! I would also suggest taking the coming days to think about your reasons for having the surgery. The recovery period can be frustrating and you may question "why did I do this to myself." If you have your list of reasons, you can remind yourself on those days. And, finally....don't fall victim to the comparison trap. Don't waste time and energy comparing your progress to others. We each have our own unique journeys to travel. You have made a life-changing decision...enjoy the rewards!

    Banders Exercise

I still got my time with him...he taught the boxing class. We will be rescheduling the private appointment later this week. Now, where did I put my ice pack? Lordy... WTG SillyAuntDi.... you didn't let your trainer canceling on you stop you. Great job!

    April Fitness Challange!

Here we go! I'm committed to increasing my bike rides to 8 miles and by the end of the month, NOT walk the bike up the big hills along the way. My goal is to ride twice a week. My next goal is to make my boxing class twice a week (in addition to the personal training time at the same gym each week). And, then for the fun of it, get a complete ab and leg workout in at least once a week (besides the training session...this is the major focus of these sessions). Good luck everyone!

    Amazed

I feel this way every day when I pack my lunch for work. Leftovers last much longer now And, when I go to restaurants, I start by looking at the appetizer section. Then, if I don't want anything there, I start convincing my friends to split something with me.
