I didn't have a breaking point. For me it was when my husband found out our health insurance covered the surgery. He said something like "Would you like to consider weight loss surgery?" and I replied with "Let's do it." without any reservations. I actually surprised myself with this response, but the more I thought about it, the more feelings that I had been holding back all these years poured out. Feelings like, "I'm the nicest person in the freakin' world, I DESERVE to be cute and little!" It's silly, I know, but yeah...

Has anyone used the UP system from Jawbone? Do you like it? I found it here: https://jawbone.com/up?r=awup10&gclid=CN2Wrv3Xl7kCFWuCQgodpncAQw

Me and my hubby have been working on the change off of soda for 2 weeks now. I dropped soda like a rock and he's still struggling. Granted, he's working 12 hour days right now, so all the changes we're required to do have been harder for him. He can't find an alternative to soda yet.

Preventative measures.... Body Wraps and compression garments. Do they work?

I'm 28 and I'm SO worried about this too. In another thread, I learned that Nivea Q10 is good for your skin, so I'll be trying that post-op. -

Anyone not on a pre-op diet?
Jouselle replied to AtlJD's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
When I was working with the first doctor to get the band, they were like "Eat whatever you want! Gain weight!" But my current doctor, who I trust much more, has put me on a strict diet. "Protein, vegetables, and water!" she said. -
Thank you very much for posting this. It's very reassuring.

Jouselle replied to brwneyedwoman's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good for you! Me and my hubby just had our psych visit this week, and it went well too. -
Oh noooooooo! This Monday I had my first appointment with the surgeon I'm going to go with, and really? No pastries ever again? No cake? No ice cream? Not even a little bit? What am I gonna eat on my birthday? What am I gonna eat when I'm depressed? What about my mom's homemade Cookies?

Thank you so much you guys! I totally forgot about those sugar-free puddings in the grocery store. >.> And I love frozen yogurt and there's dozens of frozen yogurt places to go to in my area.

Well, it's been a whole week since that fateful appointment with the surgeon last Monday, and even though I haven't done perfectly, I have managed to make some changes. I dropped soda like a rock. I'm proud of that. I got a bottle of water with ounce measurements on it and I'm up to drinking all the water I need to. I've cut my carb intake in half, I think. Burgers without buns, breakfast without toast, things like that. But, I still have some hurdles to jump. Drop carbs completely. Drop sweets completely. Count calories and stay under 1200. So, I'm not perfect, but I could be worse. I'm not gonna weigh myself every day or every week. That will make me nuts and my scale's not that accurate anyway. I got it at Wal-mart, after all. So, I'll update my weight each month, when I visit the doctor and use their vastly superior scale.
