I forgot avocados, super healthy .

If you are seeking healthy, nutrient filled choices that taste good I would do sweet potatoes (puréed with apple juice or water or both), beans with salsa, spinach with shallots and/or garlic and a tiny bit of cream for purée...I did a sweet potato with coconut and coconut milk and it tasted like pudding . These types of choices prepare you for real life eating . If you just eat pudding and shakes it will just be temporary and you would gain weight once you can eat more. This is not a miracle fix . We still need to give our bodies proper nutrients if we want to be healthy and keep our hair luxurious . Good luck!

Recovery with children
aphroheidi replied to smejia2's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have an 11 month old (20 lbs) and a three year old (40 lbs) and it was at least 3 weeks before I could lift my youngest more than 10 or so times a day without hurting a lot at night. I am a month out now and can lift both kids regularly without too much soreness in the evening. If your kids are really little (like my 3 year old) it is good to prepare them for your "owie" by lifting them less and reminding them not to jump on you...that way when you are really in pain they will be over the "testing" phase . Good luck! -
I get phantom baby births too! Well put .

I use an App on my phone called "MyFitnessPal". It helps me log my calories. It even has a barcode scanner so you can just scan the food about you choose your portion size… I lost 60 pounds before getting a lap band using this process. It shows you how much fat you are over or under, how much protein you are over or under… And everything is done based on your current weight, height and everything else . Email me at aphroheidi.g@me.com if you want more info of tips in using the app. I also have a lot of tasty recipes ;

Food to feel full.
aphroheidi replied to SolracSpree's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I understand the need to omit bread and starchy items but beans are filled with natural potassium, protein and other nutrients...they are a mainstay in my diet and have not caused grassiness . -
Before I had my surgery I was using MyFitnessPal but Obviously not to its fullest… Someone posted on here that there was a barcode scanning feature that you could use and I have gone crazy on that thing! Whoever you are I, really, REALLY appreciate that you posted about that because now I was able to enter all of my vitamins that I take each day just by scanning the barcode… It's a great way to keep track of all my nutrition and make sure I get everything that my body needs...i can't thank you enough!

MyFitnessPal Bar Code Scannet
aphroheidi replied to aphroheidi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After you hit "add", then "breakfast, lunch, dinner or snack, there is a search bar at the top and just to the right of that looks like a giant hash tag, that is the bar code scanner . -
MyFitnessPal Bar Code Scannet
aphroheidi replied to aphroheidi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is a free App you can download to your phone (i believe you can use it on computer too but not sure about bar code feature in there. The only time I use it on the computer is when I am entering my own recipe (another great feature). To find app do a search for MyFitnessPal. The icon is light blue and has a white leaping person icon. Let me know if you have trouble finding it... -
MyFitnessPal Bar Code Scannet
aphroheidi replied to aphroheidi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is such a cool feature! Once you hit add, then breakfast (or whichever meal you are adding) there is a squiggly looking thing in the upper righ hand corner, hit that and point your phone camera at whatever bar code you want (almost every food you eat has an entered bar code) and it takes a picture and adds that particular food to your diary . All you do is adjust your portion to what you are eating:). Let me know if you need more help on how to use it, you will love it! -
I had the surgery yesterday and today I'm trying to get as much fluids as I can including the protein and water… I was told to try and get 60 g of protein down...was anyone able to do this the day after surgery?

I am getting banded tomorrow, Tuesday, at noon. My BMI is 34 (I lost 47 lbs using MyFitnessPal and exercise) and I was told to eat regularly until dinner tonight. I am a bit nervous about everything (I have a hernia to repair also) but excited too . My mom is flying into town to help me take care of my babies and I hope it isn't too long before I can lift them again . Good luck to all and congratulations!

Diet first two weeks post op
aphroheidi replied to aphroheidi's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you! He did give me a program to follow and suggested watered down shakes but also suggested I do a little research and consult with him again the day before surgery due to my breastfeeding nutrition requirements for my daughter . Thank you so much for the link! -
I live up in the mountains Where it is not easy to get to a store. i am having the surgery on Tuesday and i am wondering what I should have on hand in my kitchen for my first two weeks diet… Broth, Jell-O? What is what are some good things, that are nutritious (after the anesthetic gets out of my system I will continue to breast feed my baby), That I can consume in the first few days, the first two weeks?

Everyone keeps talking about the preoperation liquid diet but my surgeon is having me eat normal meals even the night before⦠Is this right? Also, since I'm asking questions...I am having surgery on June 25th and I just started my menstrual cycle. Will they have to reschedule?

Thank you so much!
