1 year, 3 months post-op and pregnant
RAAinNH replied to mariemadeline's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
If you don't have a OBGYN already, it's time to find one and make your first appointment. You want the very best for your baby and now is the time to start getting expert advice! You will need to take prenatal vitamins as well. Congratulations! I send you my best wishes for a happy and healthy pregnancy. -
Try to be as positive & reassuring as your can with your wife. Let her know that you are in this together! Remember, you are both going through a lot of changes which comes with a good amount of stress. You are both losing weight to be more active & healthy. It will give both of you a more active lifestyle so you can enjoy your children and improve your family life. If possible, try to do some marriage counseling. Good luck.....

You still have plenty of time to decide. When or if the time is right, you'll know it.

I just invested in the Fitbit One. I was going to wait for the Fitbit Flex to come out next month until I read that it doesn't count stairs. I bought my Fitbit One from HSN. They had the best deal... comes with an armband to keep your Fitbit in while you sleep. HSN also had free shipping and four month flex pay. The Fitbit itself, is teenie tiny. You can clip it to your waste band or for ladies, inside your bra and no one will notice that you are wearing it. The Fitbit Flex would be obvious because you would be wearing it on your wrist. This product really encourages you to add more steps & stairs to your day! I also have the Aria scale, which is awesome. It tracks your weight automatically to their Fitbit web site, which is free. You can also track your food & Water intake and set your daily calories. Fitbit will keep track for you and let you know how many calories you have left for the day. The Aria scale paired with the Fitbit, work great together to encourage and keep you on track. I got my first 15 pound weight loss badge which I copied and put use as wallpaper on my Iphone It's really nice to have extra encouragement!

Your husband needs to find another job before he quits his current one. It appears that he is putting all the financial stress on you. It's selfish of him to expect you to carry all the burden and support him while he takes time off. Try to make him understand that although you love him, you will not tolerate him quitting his job again. He has a responsibility to not only you but your children to help provide a stable home life. Good luck. My best advice is to do what is best for you and your children.

Just starting my journey

Welcome Jess! You will get tons of support on this site! I check in daily. Between all the posts, YouTube videos and Dr Alvarez' book on the Gastric Sleeve, I was able to make an informed decision to have the Sleeve. Good luck! -
Last band adjustment... Bring on my sleeve!
RAAinNH replied to Kristina J.'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm waiting to transition from the Lapband to the Sleeve and will not be seeing the surgeon until I finish the required program steps. I still have my band filled to 8cc's and I'm wondering if I should go ahead and have the fluid removed from my band now. It would be very frustrating to finally see the surgeon and learn that my band needs to be drained and wait another two months for Sleeve surgery. -
Hmmm.... Since I'm just starting to exercise, Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive" comes to mind! Hopefully, in the future it will be John Mellencamp's "Hurts So Good!

Un-fill Lapband before Sleeve Surgery?
RAAinNH replied to RAAinNH's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Thanks for your reply... Did you have your band removed and Sleeve surgery at the same time? -
How long did the surgery take to remove your lap-band and revise to the gastric sleeve? Was your hospital stay longer? Does having a band change the quality of the effectiveness of the sleeve?
-
I'm going to Dartmouth Medical Center this afternoon to enroll in their Bariatric Program. I currently have a lap band and I'm planning on having revision surgery to the gastric sleeve. Initially, I was so embarrassed by my lack of weight loss with the band. I finally got enough courage to see another surgeon who suggested revision surgery. I have read a few informative gastric sleeve books and the posts on this site are so helpful. I am encouraged that the sleeve will be an excellent tool that will help me lose and keep off my excess pounds. One of my biggest problems is that I am hungry all of the time. What I've learned is that it's really reflux that is making me think I'm hungry. I have stopped drinking regular coffee and and switched to decaf which is helping a lot with my reflux issues. I am fortunate to have good health insurance. They will approve the revision surgery once I complete the Bariatric Program. Although I have been through this program once before at a different center, I am looking forward to the process. This time I am planning and preparing for success. I'm 56 years old and I expect to lose the weight slower than younger Sleevers. That's OK.... slow & steady will get me there. I am looking forward to stopping high blood pressure & cholesterol meds. I am also pre-diabetic and have sleep apnea. It will be wonderful to sleep with out my CPAP machine! My health is the main reason I need to lose weight... the side effect will be that I will look & feel so much better!
