OH Juli: :omg: , I am so happy that you posted here. My LDR is the same race as me but this is just too cool. We've talked about me having two kids with the second being from her egg. To actually know someone that has done that...:wow2: What did you do as far as the XY chromosome? Did you go through a sperm bank or knew someone? I'm happy that you are able to work things out like that with your ex. I admire that. Did I tell you that I'm so happy you posted here? Pamela: Love what you're doing to help the kids! :clap2: Lucy: :welcomeB: MsDad: I must be a bad lezzy. Had to google that too!!! :noidea: :rainbow: Rainbow Pride!!! -
Best fodd for me to eat following band surger.
Afrykanvyolet replied to Rainbow Days's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I shouldn't say that I cannot tolerate lettuce. I think its more that I cannot stand the time it takes to chew lettuce. Its quite annoying for me and Ifind that I do better with spinach. I know...I'm lazy!!!!!! Try to always get your meat in first. I haven't had cereal yet, but when I do I will alternate between cereal and crispbread. I won't eat both on the same day. My doctor also suggests to eat small portions about every 3 hours. I can't say that I do that all the time but it does make me think that I'm constantly eating. Do they have products like Proteins bars in Scotland/UK? Have you been able to order any online? Try ebay. One last thing. Exercise! Exercise! Exercise! I was at a point where I was not losing/not gaining. I started exercising and that is changing now. Elizabeth, you will get pass this. You'll eventually find what works for you and will start losing in no time. I know you can do it!!!!! -

I eat two pieces of WASA whole wheat crispbread a day with a nice heaping of tuna on it. I can't really tolerate lettuce but I can eat spinach leaves. I'll have that with some fish or crabmeat and chickpeas, a little low fat cheese, and about an ounce of nuts (walnuts, almonds). Very tasy and filling. -
:wow2: You look great! Congratulations with the success of your weightloss. Your goals for your new year is fabulous as well!!!! :cheer2: Good Luck with your knee surgery. Ok....So I had my first fill - 1cc in 10cc band. Everything went quick and well. No problems so far. I just had an Atkins shake and that went down smoothly. I doubt if I will have real restriction right now but I'm ok with that. I've been doing pretty well with my food and portions. I made a new ticker and also included my challenges for the month. Before surgery, I was 286lbs. On surgery day - 263lbs, now 248. I learned from the forum that weightloss will happen at a nice slow pace. Originally for me, it was all about getting the weight down in a short period of time. Thank goodness I learned what I did and I'm content with that. The weight is coming off at healthy rate and I'm looking good. :clap2: Can you guys tell that purple is my favorite color?

I know that I'll be ok since I have all of you fabulous people for support:love: Well, gotta go...I'm out! :peace:

I also absolutely love yoga. I haven't been doing it for long but it makes me feel so calm. It really is a workout too. I have to wear a sweatband. I am becoming more flexible and it also helps with your muscles after a great workout! Pilates, on the other hand----Definitely not for me at this time. I might try it after I lose much more weight.

On a serious note MsDad...... How are your children? Are they biologically yours or adopted? In a few years, Mrlady and I want to have kids. She would like me to start when I move to NC but I told her that I wanted to enjoy my post op body for a little while. I have looked into various sperm banks. While I know that a lot of testing is done on the doner and his sperm, it still makes me slightly uneasy. I have no problems with adopting - something that I've always wanted to do since working in foster care for the state. SHE, however, would like me to have a child. I told her to why doesn't she have one - being sarcastic because of the whole butch mentality thing. She looked at me as if I head two heads or something and then firmly replied, "OH hell naw!" -

LOL!!!! No pick up trucks, no flannel, NO construction work here. I'm totally lipstick. We would get along!!!!! I'll take the flower arrangements though! SHE can do the contruction without the ugly flannel. What's up with that anyway? Black butches do not wear flannel!!!! -

Afrykanvyolet replied to AshevilleEddie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hello Eddie, Thanks for the new thread. My name is Yenken and I have been with my partner for five years now. We are in long distance relationship right now as I live in Jersey and she is in NC. I'm originally from NJ but moved to NC five years ago. I moved back to NJ to go to nursing school. One more year then I'm off to NC. The long distance thing is hard but we make it work. We take alternate months to see eachother but I miss her dearly. I'm going to NC on the 15th so I can't wait. She's the 'athletic type' (butch) with no weight issues...although she has gained some weight she's still fine. I, on the otherhand, have been overweight my whole life. No sob stories to tell but overweight nonetheless. Initially, I had opted for the bypass and she was soooooo against it. She did support my decision but she was not happy. I think she was kind of scared about it. Anyway, when I found out about the band, I did more research and opted for that. Its funny, but she had NO problems with that whatsoever. She was with me on the day of surgery and stayed for 2 weeks to take care of me (she was going to do that regardless - its just funny how her opinion changed). I think she was doing some research on the band without telling me! Lol! Congrats to DH on his banding. How is he doing? Good luck and congrats to you on your date? I wish the both of you nothing but the best weight loss ever!!!!!!! -
I'm with LisaH, I drink then stop to eat, then wait an hour later to drink again. HOWEVER, my doc said it was OK to have a SMALL SIP of H2O during a meal just in case. I do know that fluids quicken gastric emptying. I assume that during that hour the stomach is working on breaking down and digesting food. How one stays full, I have no idea.

OH Juli, GIIIIRRRRRLLLLLLLLLL!!!!!!!!!!!! If I could run 5k by the fall, I don't know how I would act. I would be the biggest DIVA around. I would talk about the 5k as if I had a 5k diamond ring..."Yes...and did you know that I ran a 5k??? Hm-hmm, yes I did, thank you." Wow - they say wishes do come true!!!!!!! I guess I'll just have to wait for mine.

How do you sleep?
Afrykanvyolet replied to rubylyn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yep. Same situation as Travelgirl. After surgery I had to sleep on my back propped up against pillows. After the first week, I was able to maneuver my body slightly to the side with pillows. After the second week I was back to completely sleeping on my side. -
Hello Everyone; demmemoon: I totally agree. I work in a hospital and there is junk food everywhere in the halls, the waiting areas, the caf... EVERYWHERE!!!! Well everyone, I started going to gym this week and have been feeling great! Because of my crazy schedule with exams, I haven;t been able to do any classes yet. There's this Salsa aerobic class I am waiting to try. Anyway, I've been working on the treadmill. I am proud to say that I stay on for 40 min with three 5 min jogging intervals. Who knew I would be able to jog for 5 whole minutes???:omg: :clap2: I'm actually liking this jogging thing. I might take that up instead of the water aerobics.

Are there any Banders w/PCOS - has it helped symptoms?
Afrykanvyolet replied to Manxie's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have PCOS too. I didn't find out until last may. I had never even heard of it until that time. I always had problems with my periods- I wouldn't get them. When I was in undergrad, I went to the doc's and Iwas told that I wasn't getting my period due to stress. Yeah, ok..I wasn't stressed out at all. Well maybe when exam time came around but that's it. Last year I made an appointment with a new GYN. At that point it was almost a year since I had my period. She had me do some bloodwork and viola!! PCOS. She said that was also a reason why I was gaining and it was hard for me to lose weight. She put me on birth control. 2 weeks before the surgery, I was told to stop taking the pill. I haven't been back on it yet and my period came on its own. I am going to wait one more month to see if it comes on its own again. If not, then back on the pill until I lose more weight. -
I have been banded!!!
Afrykanvyolet replied to mumof2boys's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Tina, I hope you feel better soon!!!!!!! I only have to take 2 Flinstone chewables. One in the morning, the other in the evening. I'm also going to start taking a chewable Calcium Vitamin.
