  1. Hello all, I haven't posted in a while because I've been really discouraged. I've been stuck for the last month and then gained 5 lbs to boot!!! I finally lost the 5 lbs and this week I lost another 5 so things are looking up and since the scale is moving in the right direction I feel much better now. I'm so happy the rest of you are doing so well, it's encouraging to me to know I'll eventually get there. Tammy
  2. I'm 7 months out and had lost 80.5 pounds and was doing and feeling great, in the last 4 days I've gained 5 lbs!!! The only thing different is I've dropped one protein shake and going for more protein elsewhere and I went to a potluck yesterday but could only get in a few bites and a couple of those bites were little smokies in BBQ sauce so I don't think the small amount I ate yesterday would have contributed to it but who knows, I'm still new at this. I've not had regular bowel movements this week and that could be some of it. I get a minimum of 64 oz of water in addition to other drinks like two cups of coffee... The only thing different is the 30 grams of protein I usually get from my shakes. Someone please tell me this happens and the scale will start heading back in the other direction. Thanks, Tammy.
  3. I just ordered the juvenon so I can't wait to try it. Thanks for the info.

  5. Smiley, I had hair loss for about 2-1/2 months...at first it seemed like a lot since I have very fine hair but it gradually slowed down and stopped. I did however get a very short haircut to avoid pulling it to comb or brush it. Thank goodness I only had thin spots, no bald spots.
  6. Thank you James, I'm going to do some of these.
  7. I'll start eating apples it'll be a nice treat as well. I stopped the shake hoping to make up for it at meals but you're right, I haven't had much luck with getting more protein from the table food. I'm really struggling with eating meat. I use to love all kinds of meat but since surgery it just doesn't taste good. I'm forcing myself to eat it for the sake of protein but it makes for miserable meal time. I'm trying to look at anything I take into my body as fuel and try and change my whole mindset on eating. That's easier said than done but I'm getting there. I'm sure this weight gain must just be a glitch and I'm trying to not stress over it but 5lbs gave me some concern.

    Women critical of other women

Those people are like empty calories, you don't need them! (Pun intended)
  9. Janette, I need to fly somewhere so I can say I don't need the seatbelt Extention. :-)
  10. Awesome job Blankita... I know how much better you feel and to be in onederland is great. I can't wait till I get there...
  11. I have to say that I'm one who received NO instructions. I waited thinking I would be visited by a nut in the hospital but nothing. Before discharge I asked the surgeon about it and he said he didn't use them as it cut into his bottom line. I know what everyone is thinking and I've thought the same thoughts but I can say I was so desperate to have the surgery and he had good reviews that I just trusted him. I don't ask many if any questions on this forum for fear of being ridiculed but others who have had the guts to ask questions have helped me learn so much. I google a lot and have bought some books but you are right, there are some or maybe just me that had no nut instructions and no follow up (except for weigh ins) care. If I ask questions he will answer them otherwise he rushes me out the door. He had this same (RNY) surgery 9 years ago so I thought I was getting someone good and someone who understood what we go through. I messed up big time. I'm just on my own along with reading answers to questions asked on this forum, books and google...
  12. Way to go Sammy, you rock... Congratulations... Tammy~
  13. I don't really have any before pics. I tried to avoid any photo shots. Down 72.8 pounds. I consider myself a slow looser since I've been on a 3 week stall.
  14. Kimr, yes I did cave and have some carbs. I'm hoping that getting back on track with upping my protein will take care of it. No alcohol for me though, I gave that and cigs up in 93...just too much partying and I decided to change my lifestyle and gave it up. Strangely I didn't gain any weight, I stayed about 135 for years then in my mid 40's I began to pack on the pounds... I'm not going to freak out yet even though I gained 2lbs, I'll just keep plugging along and hope things go back to normal. Whatever that is. :-)
  15. Princesserin, Those years are behind me. Lol I wish that was the explanation. I'm just feeling hungry all the time. I think I'll up my protein and increase my fluids, maybe that'll do it. I was traveling for a couple days and didn't keep up with protein and fluids being so busy so I'm going to get back on track n c how it works out.
  16. I'm having carb cravings. I find myself wanting to eat constantly the last couple days. Albeit I can only eat a few bites but it worries me. Has anyone else experienced this or is it just me. I've done so well not even caring about carbs but the last couple days has been unusual for me.
  17. Thank you Claire and ryn2bethin.
  18. Guess I could smile more.
  19. Congratulations Janette!!!. Happy Independence Day.

  22. Hello all, I trust everyone is doing well these days. We're going on 5 months and it doesn't always seem like it's been that long, I was on vacation and hit a really cute shop in Amana, Ia and found some cute outfits I purchased for later in the summer for when I got small enough to fit them. It's the first time I've purchased outfits since surgery. I was curious how much smaller I'd have to be before they fit so I tried them on and to my surprise they fit perfectly. It's a good thing I didn't wait till later to try them or they would have been too big for me. Whoo hoo!!! Now I want to go shopping.
  23. Hi Claire, I have a recumbent bike and it doesn't cause much if any stress to my back and feet. I'd like to talk to a personal trainer to see if we could work around my back and feet problems. Maybe I can get to the gym this next week and talk to someone. Take care Tammy

    50's

Hi Zackate, I was one of the fortunate ones, I had no pain after the first day, no gas pains at all. I didn't have any vomiting problems until a ways down the road and that was from not being able to tolerate certain foods or taking that one too many bites n then paid the price. For me it's been learning how to retrain myself to eat. As far as constipation, I've learned to use stool softener and that's about all I needed. If things got bad I'd have a glass of milk. It worked every time for me. Lol I can't tolerate milk anymore since surgery...not sure if that's any help but that's been my experience. Oh, and I'm 4-1/2 months out.
