Protein Q's...a lil help please!
tkauhi replied to hmjdreamingbig's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
With regards to having a nut, I waited to talk to one then was sure I'd have one before I left the hospital but nope, never had one. I've just been winging it and following the folks on this forum. The surgeon did tell me 60 grams of protein a day and suggested premier protein shakes from SAMs. -
Surgery in Feb, Weightloss at a standstill?!

7-1/2 weeks and down 44.3 lbs -
I'm 5 weeks out and have been at a stall for 2-1/2 weeks now. I've lost 30lbs so far but now I'm worried it's not working anymore. I've changed up my exercise and upped my calories as best I can usually only getting 5-600 cals a day, that's all I can manage. I get all protein but struggle with water & liquids. Anyone else faced this delima? Any suggestions???

How do you all take your vitamins. I take mine twice a day but I've read where some spread them out throughout the day. And what kind are you taking. I take the vita fusion chewable from SAMs. Calcium with vitamin D and the regular chewable vitamins plus the b12

Surgery in Feb, Weightloss at a standstill?!
tkauhi replied to Heidi Isales's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a recumbent bike that I try to use as much as possible. I take care of my elderly parents. Mom had a stroke and dad is on dialysis and is ready to quit. Then I have two adopted granddaughters, both teenagers that constantly say feed me... I swear they are boys in disguise. I cook different for about each of them and it seems I'm never out of the kitchen. I have a bow flex but never use it and would like to get rid of it for an elliptical. Sometimes I feel like I shouldn't have had the surgery since I can't get out and enjoy it but I have to keep telling myself that life won't always be like this. My BF n I just bought a motorhome and when my sister can come stay with the folks, he and I are going to get away for some weekends and his vacation time. I'm so blessed to have him in my life. Well enough blabbing. :-) -
I'm not allowed gum... I guess they think I'll swallow it. Lol they're probably right. :-)

We went to Silver Dollar City in Branson, Mo last summer and for the roller coasters they had a try out seat at the front of the ride. I didn't even try but several did and I was surprised at how many had to walk away. I just couldn't bring myself to try it.

Ive had that problem. I constantly pull out breath mints when In public. I'm thinking I heard someone say it's the protein.

I was never given clear instructions, only what to take and take it twice daily except for the sublingual B-12. So I was just wondering.

Surgery in Feb, Weightloss at a standstill?!
tkauhi replied to Heidi Isales's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heidi, it sounds like you're telling my story. Lol 2-1/2 weeks of the same two pounds was very discouraging but finally I started loosing again and 7 weeks out I'm down 41.5lbs. I still have the up and down numbers but I look at the graph on MFP and it's steadily going down. That's a big encouragement. -
I had a delicious tamale and kept the whole thing down. Yay! Another food to add to my list of things I can tolerate. I did discover that fish is out of the question...:-( at least for now.

My surgery was Feb 5th. I went through about a 2-1-2 week stall where I'd gain n loose the same 2 lbs over and over, it was so frustrating. I had been off all BP meds since surgery but they added back in the water pill, that broke my stall. Not to say I don't still have a few days of ups and downs but slowly it's creeping down so almost 7 weeks out I'm now down 40lbs. I'm noit sure if I'm a slow looser or not but I'm happy with the ups and downs. As long as I have more downs than ups. Lol

Has anyone else found anything they can no longer tolerate? For me it's milk products. I can do cheese but no other milk products. I sure hope this is only temporary.

Hi girls, I too have the dumping problems but after 2 straight weeks of puking and the other I've begun to figure out how to eat. I'm still learning to listen to my body, like, if I eat that next bite it'll come back up! That took learning how to eat slow and paying close attention. The diarrhea I've found comes from foods I can't tolerate any longer like milk products. I've learned to only introduce new foods at home. I've spent lots of time in the car with a puke bag while the rest of my family were inside the restaurant enjoying their meal. Not pleasant at all. Thank goodness for disposable puke bags! One of my hardest lessons is not drinking with my meal. That's been a toughie. Sounds like you girls are on the right path so keep up the good work. Tammy

Well I lost 2.1 lbs today. I hope this is a good sign. I know we're not suppose to compare our weight loss to others but when you hear of others loosing 50,60,70 lbs or more in just 2-3 months it just kind of makes me jealous. Lol But I'll take what I can get. 2.1 lbs down is heading in the right direction again.

This is my 7th day of gaining and loosing the same 2 lbs. am I the only one with this problem? Grrr!!!

I was never cold before but I sure am now. My kids love it. Lol

One month ago today. February 5th... Thank you for the suggestions. I found that coffee went down fine this morning. I was allowed coffee after my second week but even being the coffeeholic I am, I had no interest in it but today it went down well. Thanks guys.

If you're nor getting in enough liquids, will it hinder your weight loss? I'm at a stall. Even gained 1-1/2 lbs but I can't get in all my liquids. Like barely even 1/2.
-
The liquid just seems to sit heavy in my pouch and makes me nauseous. Water has a bitter taste now but I've been making lemonade with Splenda the last couple days and it's a little better. Today I got 41oz total so it's better than a couple days ago.

Been stalled at 29 lbs for a week and today gained 1-1/2 lbs. what's up with that? I was hoping to hit 30 lbs by my 4th week but it's not likely. Bummer!!!

I'll be 4 weeks out on Wednesday. I'm having trouble with itching but not from my incisions. My whole torso is driving me crazy entire back, chest n stomach. Anyone know why this might be?
