    Treadmill or elliptical?

Depends how fit you are ? IMO I believe if you're just starting out get elliptical as it's less impact and you can decide how hard you want to work. A treadmill IMO is for running and that's it. Treadmill is a sure way to shed those pounds but it's the harder physically of the 2

PLEASE HELP! Been in Plateau for 4 months!

Wow. Feel real bad for you but if you're eating that few calories and doing that much exercise and not losing weight, that's probably the slowest metabolism I've ever seen! Maybe go and get your thyroid checked and really have a think if you are actually keeping up to sticking to that few calories and doing that much exercise. Sometimes we lie to ourselves like when I was at my biggest I constantly said "I don't eat alot" who was I kidding. All the best
  3. Banded 5th June and 50lbs down. BOOM. Hard work but MFP and not lying to myself and cardio is doing the trick :-)
  4. Inspirational - well done

    Chocolate meltdown

Cheers. Mass guilt has ensued therefore tomorrow the key word is deficit. I just NEEDED it lol
  6. Just nailed 800 calories on choc. Ooops. 7 weeks in 50lbs down. Tomorrow with exercise, my net calories will be zero!!!! Have any other successful banders ever done this??

Foods that I'm loving right now...

    I eat EVERYTHING in moderation.
  8. I lost 90lbs on atkins but it's not sustainable. It's a loophole where the body goes through a chemical reaction that eats fat stores. It turns your body into an acidic state which leads to all sorts of problems. I agree it's good for fast weight loss and occasionally good for the body but its not sustainable at all. There are too many temptations in our world even when you are in the OWL stage to keep carbs so low. I used to be all for it. I AM NOW A FIRM BELIEVER IN MORE CALORIES BURNED THAN CONSUMED IS THE RIGHT WAY. PLATEAUS ARE A GOOD THING AS I BELIEVE WHEN THE WEIGHT EVENTUALLY COMES OFF ITS A LOT HARDER TO PUT BACK ON.
  9. I was banded June 5th. My biggest hurdle is Water retention after binge drinking which I tend to do once a week/fortnight. I drink vodka and low cal orange. Sometimes from 1/2 to a full bottle. Apart from that, 3 stones down in total. 800-1200 cal net with training 4 times a week. Much love Gavin

    Net and Gross Calories

I agree. I may half my exercise calories burned to be more realistic haha
  11. I use my fitness pal and with daily cardio normally get my net calories to 800-1000. Should I take net calories as gospel or should I just only factor what gross calories I've had into my daily success??

    The Pre-Op Diet

My Pre op diet was 2 weeks. That called it the liver shrinking diet. I knew atkins like the back of my hand so for the first week, I did that as atkins shrinks your liver anyhow and second week, I did herbalife shakes with some lean meat and veggies thrown in now and then. I was like 9lbs down Pre op. doc said my liver was perfect
  13. More people are successful than not! You are implying that it doesn't work at all. Maybe you should stop being negative and positive things will happen. Read the SECRET, it may help kick start things for you. All the best!!!!
  14. Since being banded I am training everyday and I am eating sensibly/counting calories and I am working harder to achieve my goal harder than before the band. You know why???? It's because I am major motivated by my weightloss, by comments from people, by clothes fitting easier, by fitting in plane seats, by staying healthy, by living longer, by being able to Play with my daughter. Don't get me wrong the band kick started all this and majorly helps portion control but results drive enthusiasm. HOW BAD DO YOU WANT IT????
