Wow. Cheers brad. So how do I make a 1000 cal deficit? How many calories should I be having? And burning etc. I normally can only squeeze in 30 mins interval training that gives me a 450 cal burn. I normally eat between 1200-1400 cal on these days so my net tends to be between 800-1000. Pls help lol Gav

Very active before lap band, worried about endurance post-op
Pygo replied to beanie80's topic in Fitness & Exercise
Even with that fitness level previously, you still needed a Lapland for weight loss. The fact is that the band will help you lose weight and improve health from not carrying around as much weight especially around the organs etc so don't worry about exercise yet. Heal and it'll all come together. I started elliptical about 10 days post op but no lifting or ab work TIL at least 6 weeks. We are very similar. -
Try but chew alot of times.

So guys. I am loving being banded and I am awaiting my first full on 4th July but the restriction is pretty good already. Down around 35 lbs in like a month. I'm using myfitnesspal app and tracking my food and exercise. I'm consuming around 1200 per day but burning 400 with cardio exercise. My net calories are like 800/900 per day. The debate is this, I am eating healthy to a degree but also eating some fried foods and pizza but tiny quantities in comparison to what I used to hence the calorie intake and losing weight! Does it matter what kind of foods the calories are coming from as long as you are burning more than you eat???

Wow. Well done. You must be looking great!!! Pics before and after??

There must be something you're forgetting about. Bottom line is, more calories burned than eaten equals weight loss. I know your metabolism can slow but not normally so you put on weight. Try myfitnesspal app, it tracks calories and exercise etc. you should be aiming for 60-80g of Protein and between 1000-1200 calories for continuos weight loss. If you exercise try doing some interval training to kick start your metabolism. This band is a tool. We still have want it bad to get to our target weight. I'm a way off yet. Good luck

Probably fine. I'm assuming you felt full as you would still have been swollen? With bands we need to remember that we haven't had our stomach cut on the inside. We have the same mechanics as before we just have bit that is made smaller. Some people experience all sorts of symptoms but most have none. X

Maybe you are consuming hidden calories in Snacks that your forget you've had or in drinks etc. I believe it's impossible to sustain a certain weight if you are burning off more than you consume. If you are actually having 750 and not losing, I am sorry and your metabolism must have slowed to sedentary levels.

I had a party to go to last sat the 15 th June and I was banded 5th June. I called my surgeon on 13th and asked him if I could drink alcohol. He said if I have had no indigestion I could drink non carbonated but if I had any discomfort, I should stop. I drank vodka with Fresh orange and ALOT of them! My stomach was fine and I'm back on track with the weight loss. A bit of a stupid risk but at least I called my surgeon first.

Pygo replied to Justel_'s topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well done. I'm nearly one week post op and I feel great. Been having 1/3 cup of Soup to satisfy hunger pangs. I'm gonna try do liquid for a month. I'm using herbalife shakes for my main source of Protein with whey protein Fruit drinks. Gav huddersfield -
Any June the 5th buddies? I am down 17lbs including my Pre op diet. Just cooked a BBQ for my wife and I had a shake. It's hard but when I'm buying a new tailored suit feeling amazing!!! I won't care. Love being full all the time and another thing I've realised we should all live longer for a number of reasons the main being that obesity related health problems will be less but recently I read an article about people who live to over 100 have always eaten smaller meals and we are forced to do this - BONUS ALL SMILES FROM THE UK GAV :-)

Banded on Wednesday - 2.5 kg down already.

Is this stuff any good as protein shakes/meal replacement ?

Anyone From Liverpool Or North West England??
Pygo replied to Sazparella's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Gavin from Huddersfield. Banded 5th June. 6foot1. Was originally 28 stone 3 years ago. Lost 6.5 on Atkins diet. Put 1.5 back on in last year so was keen to get this weight increase nipped in the bud. Lost over a stone since 2 weeks before surgery. Losing 2lbs a day since surgery on 5th. NUTS. -
What's the earliest after surgery anyone has touched alcohol? I have a party next week, that'll be 10 days post op. I'm guessing its a no brainer and a NO GO!!

You tube videos have me worried
Pygo replied to lynndtt's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If you keep forcing food down, eventually you will stretch the small pouch above your band which contains all the nerve endings to tell your brain you're full. These nerves will become damaged, the band could become dislodged and if you have the band removed you may NEVER be able to tell if your full with your normal stomach so mass appetite will ensue.
