  1. I am just wondering how long the whole process took from consult to surgery and what kinds of requirements insurance had before approval. Once you make this decision you want it so bad and it can't happen soon enough.
  2. I was reading the advertisement on the forum about a single incision gastric sleeve procedure, has anyone had this or is it too new? That would be great and will probably be the norm in the future for VSG.
  3. I have my sleep study tonight. I have a low BMI of 36 and high BP but my insurance requires one more comorbidity. I do snore but don't know about sleep apnea. I have never wanted something that is bad for you so much! lol. I don't have my follow up with the sleep clinic for a couple of weeks either so I won't know. Already met with surgeon just waiting on these results before we go further. I have bcbs of il PPO. Anyone else in this position?
  4. Just curious if this has ever happened to any of you whose insurance company requires two comorbities if your bmi is at least 35 but under 40. I have bcbs of illinois, PPO. I have one which is high blood pressure but but they require two. If my blood work comes back fine and my sleep study comes back fine I'm wondering if I have any chance or should I just give up. Should I just continue with psych eval and nutrition class and have my doctor submit and see what happens? I wonder if they would pay for those things if I didn't get approved. Grasping at straws here!
  5. Gamergirl do you buy the edamame dried or do you do it yourself. If you buy it that way where do you get it? I just discovered this food and was also shocked at the protein content.
  6. Hello fellow September sleepers. I am two weeks out and started soft foods today. This morning I had a poached egg and couldn't finish it. Also had a few tiny bites of cottage cheese then full. I'm so surprised at what a tiny amount I can eat. I know it will change but wonder how a person could possibly get their protein and enough calories to survive! I had a shake for dinner for the protein. Good news is I've lost 14 pounds! It's been great having different foods though.
  7. I can understand your frustration. I also started at 204. Was 196 day of surgery 9/16 and 188 as of today. I'm not complaining but am concerned about slow weight loss starting out at a lower weight. How many calories are u eating a day? Did you lose a lot in the beginning and then stall? Has it been a steady slow loss?
  8. I had my surgery on the 16th. Milk of magnesia worked for me. I'm also taking a stool softener daily.

Milk of magnesia worked for me
  10. Premier protein is my favorite. I like both chocolate and vanilla. The price is good and they have lots of protein.

    Help!

Did your doctor tell you to stay at or under 650 calories a day? I haven't been sleeved yet but that seems low. I am 204 now and was told 950 after i start solids. just seems a little low for nine months out. But if that's what your doing don't fear it will definitely keep coming off. Hang in there !
  14. I haven't had my surgery yet but I read over and over in posts that people don't like foods they once liked before having surgery. Is there some scientific reason for this or what? It's really a strange phenomena. Not just things that are no longer good for you like sweets but all kinds of foods.
  15. I have a BMI of 35 with high blood pressure. Wondering if I will be approved. Also my insurance is a PPO, what does that mean and what kind of a difference does it make? Wondering how long the process took for others with this insurance and what other requirements they want.
  16. I am noticing that most people end up with acid reflux after surgery and have to be on a long term PPI but I'm wondering how many people had it short term and were able to get off the PPI or who just never had an acid reflux issue after surgery.
  17. Hi, my name is Lynn and I'm a new member. I started this process about a month ago and things are moving fast. I am probably looking at an August surgery date. Paperwork will be turned into insurance next week. I see that there are several of us from Washington who have joined recently. I am so glad to have found this site, it is such a wealth of information, I'm pretty much addicted. I want all the information I can get before I do this. My doctor is Dr. Chock from Northwest weight loss surgery, curious if anyone else went there or is going there. Just wanted to introduce myself and thought we could give each other some support while going through this journey!

    Hello everyone!

Hi, I'm from Arlington my doctor is Dr. Chock. I am waiting on approval but have gone through all the hoops. I will be having my surgery at Evergreen because of my insurance. I have to go to a hospital that is a center of excellence. When was your surgery? I'm also curious if you have acid reflux issues. I am hoping this isn't something that will happen to me but as I'm reading this forum it sounds pretty common.

    Torani/davinci syrup uses?

    That's great news!
  20. I think you should clarify with your doctor perhaps they want you on clear liquids that long although 2 weeks seems kind of long for clear liquids but I would ask.
