Had my sleep study last night but didn't get hooked up to a CPAP during the night. Does this automatically mean I don't have sleep apnea? I don't go back for my follow up until July 9th and I am curious to know. Anyone who has had a sleep study please let me know if you were not hooked up to a CPAP but still have sleep apnea.

You mean you had to spend the night two nights? or was the second visit during the day and you didn't sleep?

Denied...Need some help
lynndtt replied to GirlOnFire's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This really scares me. I have a BMI of 36 with high blood pressure but my insurance also requires two comorbidities with a bmi under 40. I am going to my sleep study tonight, in about 2 hours. If I have sleep apnea i'm covered, if not I don't know what I'll do. I do snore but who knows. I have bcbs of Illinois PPO. I don't even know if they cover this or not but because I need to qualify I would pay myself just to know. I had blood work done and would also qualify if I had high cholesterol or diabetes but don't know the results yet and doubt that I do. I have to wait two weeks for the follow up appointment on the sleep study. Maybe I can get them to fax my surgeon so I can know before. I'm so ready to get going but so scared to be denied. -
I am considering a lap band and have been doing a lot of research. Have been watching you tube videos and a lot of people have gained back the weight. Is this common and is it due to not getting fills when needed or what?

My BMI is 35. How long from start to finish? any other requirements you had to do before surgery? Good luck! I have my consultation on the 14th. -

Thanks for the info. Looks like your having surgery the same day I have my consultation. That's great they found the hernia and can repair it. Good luck! -

That's not too bad. My BMI is 35. Did you have to have an upper gi or any type of documentation that you tried to lose weight? or see a nutritionist? -
I love seeing the record of your journey. I gives me a good idea of how often fills are done. I know everyone is different but I was curious. Having my consult the 14th.

Thanks for the reply. I guess I'm wondering how a person goes back to eating the way they did if the band restricts how much you can eat. Wouldn't you vomit? Is it that when you start to lose the band gets looser and needs to be filled so that you can't eat the way you did before the band? I'm wondering what the average time frame between fills is. I just have so many questions. I know everyone is different. I'm just trying to understand how the weight comes back on after being initially successful. This is a great site to get answers, and others experiences, I'm so glad I found it. -

Hi, I can relate to you and this is my first reply to a post. I too have been lurking around. I just found out my insurance covers lap band and have my consultation the 14th. My BMI is just barely 35. I am 5' 4" and 203 pounds. I also have high blood pressure so I think that is why I was approved. People are always shocked when they find out what I weigh, they say I "carry it well" but I don't feel like carrying it at all anymore. I have been doing a lot of research. Watching a lot of you tube videos and seeing a lot of unhappy people who have gained the weight back. I'm scared this might happen but I am hoping it is due to not getting fills when needed. I am hoping there are not a lot of hoops to jump through after my consultation. I've read some people need upper GI's and 6 months of documented dieting before. I just want to get started. It is hard to find people with lower BMI I guess because insurance usually doesn't cover it. Good luck and keep us posted on your journey.
