Hey space dust how was your surgery? You had it right? How are you feeling?

Does anyone know if the kirkland brand calcium chews at Costco are calcium citrate or carbonate? I have read through several threads trying to get an answer to this question and keep hearing different things, some say yes some say no. I was going to order from bariatric advantage but thought I might save some money at costco.

Making deliberate choices at nearly 6 months post-op!
lynndtt replied to VSGKirk's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Thanks for this video. I have not had surgery but should sometime in July or August. Have my nut appointment Wednesday then paperwork will be submitted to insurance. I have been real excited and nervous about this surgery. I was nervous just because of complications but now I'm nervous for another reason. I have just started reading the vets forums and some others and I'm so scared about maintenance now. It sounds like the beginning is pretty easy but it gets really hard when your towards goal. Even people who are eating under a 1000 calories a day. I guess your body just adjusts to whatever amount you eat. I hear people are going to try the 5:2 diet or some other diet and I think man I don't want to go down that road again. Also, so many people eat barely any carbs. I know how important the protein is but I don't want to worry about eating a piece of fruit. I don't know I'm just worried about all the people who are struggling even though they seem to be doing everything right. I live in the northwest also and thank god we decided to put air conditioning in when we bought the house, its been sooo hot! -
Do guys mean that the ready to drink and the powdered kind are made from two different kinds of protein? I'm referring to the ones from Costco.

Shoot we don't have publix or fresh market around here. I think there is a whole foods fairly close though. And I'm fairly certain my costco doesn't have the chicken curry since I'm there like once a week. Darn, oh well there is a trader joes about a half hour away.
-
Also, where do you get the sesame crackers?
-
Where do you find the greek yogurt popsicles and is the curry chicken from costco premade in the cold food section? I have never seen it, I'll have to look for it.

Haven't had my surgery yet but I'm gathering things also. I have an electric mug warmer since many people have said it can take an hour to eat a bowl of soup in the beginning. I also purchased small silver forks and spoons from bed bath and beyond rather than plastic baby ones. A digital scale as others have said and the magic bullet works really well

I am curious if everyone gets a drain after surgery or do some people not and why would or wouldn't you need one?
-
I have not been sleeved yet but I already plan on using full fat fats such as mayo, butter, sour cream. I figure if I'm only eating 2 ounces of protein with a tsp. of mayo or other fat it should be ok. We will see though. I'm going to be living off protei fruits and veggies a little flavor would be nice.

Not yet my appointment with her is Wednesday. Wow what is that like two days? How exciting! Where are you having surgery? I'm going to evergreen.
-
Are you just talking about vitamins and supplements? I was told I would need to take them the rest of my life.
-
From what my surgeon told me I don't think I will ever eat a six inch sub again. From what I understand my stomach will be able to eventually hold a cup of food ( a few months after surgery) but she said it will probably be less.

I have this exact same insurance, only my husband works for boeing. I called the number on my insurance card and asked where I could view the insurance policy for bariactric surgery online so that I could see the exact requirements. If you have a bmi under 40 but at least 35 you need 2 comorbidities, the ones they accept are: high blood pressure, disilipedemia ( high cholesterol), diabetes, osteoarthritis, sleep apnea or coronary heart disease. I have a bmi of 35 and have had high BP for 15 years and had a sleep study recently where they diagnosed me with moderate sleep apnea. They require you to see a nutritionist and get a psych evaluation and if you have your surgery done at a blue distinction center of excellence will pay at 100%. This is all they require and your surgeon's office should set up all these appointments for you. I don't know what a hba1c blood test is. Now this is for my husbands employers insurance. Other bsbs policies may be different.

To tell people or not to tell people: please answer
lynndtt replied to freakinfitfoodie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
If a person takes off work and then returns and starts drastically losing weight I think most people will figure it out on their own. Of course it's always up to you to tell or not. -
Living in the moment is so hard with everything we do in life, it just takes practice. One of my favorite books is The Power of Now by Echardt Tolle, it's all about how to live life in the moment. I think this will be one of the hardest parts for me. We need to savor what little food we do get!

How many nights at the hospital for you?
lynndtt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon said one but I kind of want to stay two just to feel more confident. One doesn't seem long enough to me for having 85% of an organ removed! I don't know if it's an insurance thing or what or if I could stay if I wanted. -
Thanks for the great information!

You look great! 50 pounds is a lot in four months. Keep up the good work!

Can't stomach anything without nausea, HELP!
lynndtt replied to light_lady's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I haven't had surgery yet but I did read a couple of posts that said thinned out cream of wheat helped them when they couldn't eat anything else, I know i'ts not great protein wise but maybe it's something you could get down -
I don't like swallowing vitamins. I know there is sublingual B-12 and calcium chews but what about a good tasting adult chewable multivitamin other than childrens flinstones

hair pieces for hair loss that look natural?
lynndtt posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I keep reading about hair loss and I know it will happen to me. I already lost a ton of hair once when I went on the atkins diet and lost a lot weight quickly. I have very fine and already thin hair so I am trying to prepare ahead of time for this. I am thinking of purchasing clip in crown hair pieces to help with volume but don't want them to look fake. Does anyone know of a good brand that looks somewhat natural?
