Hurray, I think I'm right behind you Nov. 5th.......

A 12-hour shift on first day of a pre-op diet sounds rough -- then going home to spouse and kids. Geez! Glad you had a better day today with no headache. Take it easy -- I can tell you have a good sense if humor, which definitely comes in handy at times like these. Dr. Ache? That's a good one! She sounds pretty great (read your profile).

7 months Post Op and have lost 81 pounds
Bandista replied to AmineR8705's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Great success -- thanks so much for sharing. Pre-band and can't wait! Best wishes for all the new ways your life is opening up....exciting times ahead. -
Take good care of yourself -- hope you can get some good healing sleep, even at intervals, sipping water and walking. Are you on pain medication? Sometimes the side effects can be worse than the pain, causing depression and of course constipation.

Hi there, thanks for such a thorough picture of your day -- really helps as I get ready myself even though of course it's a different experience for every one. Here's to a speedy recovery! Hope you have a restful weekend and lots of good sleep.

5 days post op.....still not feeling great
Bandista replied to Lash's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi Lash, I am pre-band but do know that healing from any surgery takes the time it takes -- our bodies are all different. You posted early this morning and I'm hoping that day five is your big turnaround day. Take good care of yourself and be sure to work on your breathing, the walks around and sips of water. That's the recipe I keep seeing here in posts from others. You are on your way! Thinking of you.... -
Day 3 post op...feel like a different person!
Bandista replied to SarahRN482's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi Sarah, so happy for you! And the house to yourself -- it's my fantasy (doesn't happen very often!). Hope you can really take it easy and let your body heal up inside. NO CLEANING! Enjoy the quiet, the movies only you like, the sips of water and walks around knowing that you've done this amazing thing for yourself. Best wishes and many congratulations. I am so excited to get banded and hope recovery is smooth as yours. Sleep is a marvelous thing -- go get some more! -
Hi Justin, sending best wishes your way -- very exciting, this whole new chapter unfolding. I hope to be right behind you. I meet my surgeon today and will be given my date. Hope it's soon. I know it won't be easy, but it's going to be a lot easier when the weight is off and tome well worth any temporary discomfort. Good luck to you today!

Things I have discovered about myself in the last two weeks...
Bandista commented on SillyAuntDi's blog entry in SillyAuntDi's Ramblings
Me, too -- so exhilarating just reading what you've written! I imagine you uncovering all that joy and happiness abounding. Yippee! Very inspiring. Thanks so much for sharing. -
You are building a lot of muscle -- so great that you are working out like that. I say put the scale away somewhere for a while and just pay attention to the structural changes you are making. The inches are coming off and the pounds will, too -- just give your body time and it will drop. You are doing all the right things -- congratulations! I work out for 60 minutes but you've got me thinking....post-band will I have energy for an hour and a half five days a week? I hope so, because I think the exercise is really where it's at.

Welcome! I am pre-band, too, and hoping to get my date soon. Glad you found this forum as there's so much information here. Looking forward to optimal health -- it's going to be work to get there but I am determined. This is the tool I need to get there. Best wishes to you! -
SURGERY TOMORROW !!!!!!
Bandista replied to Laneyb_00's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best wishes -- hope you're recovering well and have a nice relaxing weekend ahead. Thanks for keeping us posted! -
Hi there, I am pre-band myself and have learned so much in a few months of really reading through posts here on this site. People will answer any and all questions and there's so much support. I have been impatient about getting a surgery date and moving things forward more quickly but the reality is this has given me time to really delve into the habits I need to change in order to use the band properly and have it work for me. Best wishes to you as you begin your journey.

Sept 26, 2013 BAND DAY!!!!
Bandista replied to JULESDARLN's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow, good luck every one -- it's like a Lapband Flash Mob! Best wishes for speedy recoveries........ -
Hi there, I had a Sleep Study quite a while ago -- I have apnea and now use a CPAP machine. One of my weight loss goals is to not have to have that machine anymore but in a way I love that thing because it helps me get real sleep at night and I'm so much better rested now. People have different experiences but I found the Sleep Study to be fine -- the hospital I went to had a room set up like a hotel. They put all kinds of leads on me and a kind of cap with a pony tail of wires. I was worried about having to get up and go to the bathroom in the night and they had that all figured out. The guy who monitored everything was extremely kind and it was all fine. Good luck to you! And exciting that you are getting nearer your date. Best wishes.....

Need some encouragment...
Bandista replied to mommyofk's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there, I am not banded yet but I've been reading so many posts from people who are right where you are now and having difficulties at just over two months. I wonder if it has something to do with the momentum -- all the waiting for the surgery, the drop in weight during pre-op and then getting used to living with the band. I think it takes a while for the body to recover from the surgery and adjust to the band -- and of course all the behavioral issues that need to be addressed as we go through that. You need to remember how amazing you are -- that you made this decision and you are making excellent progress. You really are! Many people gain during this time as until the band is adjusted properly it's just a tool waiting to be used. Only the installation has taken place, now it will be a process to get it working properly. You are doing the exact right thing by getting in to see the doctor and taking everything one step at a time. Don't dread it -- it's going to be fine. They are there for you -- be excited as it's going to help turn this around for you. The weight loss may seem slow but over time it's weight that won't be coming back. You are in this for the long game and you will be a winner. Chin up! -
Hi there, best wishes for speedy recovery and easy transition into banded world -- so excited for you!
-
Hi there, good to hear you are doing well -- sending best wishes for continued speedy recovery and easy transition into banded life.

How exciting! I am adopted myself and we chose adoption as well -- a boy, 18 years ago (yikes!). Congratulations -- such a wonderful gift all-around and now you are choosing health for yourself as well. So happy for all of you! BTW I am still pre-band but I did have my gallbladder out years ago and it was not a big deal. Several GB attacks leading up to it and so happy to have it done. Best wishes for your new family!
-
Yippee! This is great so great to hear -- I fantasize about that feeling of lightness and feelimg comfortable in my body. It's coming! Congratulations on all the hard work that brought you this far. Here's to next summer and being really fit. Best wishes!

This is great! Good for you.....29 days to go. So inspiring to hear that you are able to exercise like this now that you've dropped weight. This is one of my big goals -- I do work out now but I want it to be easier -- and it will be when I get a chunk off. Have fun and watch those curves appear -- body definition, muscle strength!

That's great! I hope I am right behind you (waiting, waiting). It's great that you and your wife are doing this together. Even if the timing isn't matched at the very beginning, you'll be able to really help each other adapt to the new healthy new lifestyle and stick with it. Being male you are probably going to drop a lot faster than your wife -- it's just the way our bodies are. And you'll have this head start -- so she is going to need extra support and reassurance that she's on track. Gift certificates for facials come to mind.
