My Lap Band Surgery Story
chasingadream replied to sassymarie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hello Sherry! You are doing awesome...what a great loss! You must feel great! As for Snacks I am probably not much help to you...I only snack once during my day (between lunch and dinner around 3) and I keep it quick and simple since I am in the car driving home from work--laughing cow light cheese or blue diamond 100 cal almond packs or maybe some hummus and a few crackers...just a little something to get me to 6 for dinner and I do not eat anything after dinner. I'm a pretty boring eater...usually the same stuff just cycled around. Breakfast is Cereal w/ 1/2 c. milk (kashi golean or high Protein special k) or hot cereal or smart ones WW breakfast sandwich. Weekends could be an omelet. Lunch is chicken, tuna or egg salad w/ light mayo and some kind of crackers. Sometimes I'll bring in some leftover protein from dinner the night before. As for dinner, we eat in way more than out and I eat everything just smaller portions. Not sure if that help you....I also had lap-band with plication on 9/19...so far so good! Feeling good with so much more energy! -
When do u start to feel normal again
chasingadream replied to JennieT311's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I remember feeling alittle bit better everyday after surgery...by 7 days out I was back to work (teaching) and by 2 weeks feeling like myself. Still taking it slow but so much more "normal". Be patient and focus on healing.... Wishing you a happy and healthier 2014!! -
Newly Banded...What to eat and how much?
chasingadream replied to KSteele's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also had 5 incisions...my largest is to the left of my belly button...up about 3" and over about 3" (middle of stomach on left side)... As for liquids phase I was drinking slowly and until I felt full...it is hard figuring all that out in the beginning. I am about 3 1/2 months out and I'm STILL trying to figure it all out...LOL...it is a big learning curve and it does not happen overnight....any questions you should call your doctors office first and foremost...that is what they are there for. Good luck and a happy and healthier 2014 to you! -
Thank you friend! Happy New Year! Hope you are LESS stressed these days and feeling healthier!

Surgery in the morning!
chasingadream replied to MistyfortheMountain's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats and a Happy New Year to you! Your welcoming in 2014 in a spectacular way! Take one day at a time and always remember why you made this decision for yourself...it will help you stay on course when you think you arent feeling up to it or are struggling.... Remember its a journey....not a quick road trip. I am 3 mos out and feeling AWESOME...it is a great feeling.... Keep us posted on how you are doing! -
Ugh...wish I knew this before I bought the big bottle online...I now have an opened Vitamins and calcium with only a handful missing....wish I could get them to you....would hate to see them go to waste!!!
-
I also take the flintstones....they are comparable to the chewable Centrum that was recommended but i had trouble finding. I bought the Bariatric Advantage vitamins online and they were YUCKY and I also tried the Calcium from them and they were YUCKIER...lol....just my opinion....i know some people are okay with them.... I just go to CVS and get them now....alot cheaper! Good luck with it all!

Been reading some posts and never a profile (ok rarely) I think it should be a requirement to fill out some kind of profile to even be here...not saying you have to put it "all out there" or post pics like some want to...but some information should be necessary...maybe that would weed out some of the bad apples...just my thought of the day!

New person welcome?
chasingadream replied to *Misty*Raine*'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Congrats on beginning the journey to a whole new you! It is a wild ride getting through all of the testing and requirements but always remember why you made the decision you did and what your goal is at the end. I was banded on 9/19 (only a few months ago) and it has already had such a tremendous impact on me and my 2 small kids and my ever supportive hubby. Life is already so different ( in the best of ways)....I especially love the extra energy I have and when I look in the mirror I am (finally) beginning to see a smaller me. My confidence is so much improved and I really feel good just about ME! The weight loss is just a part of this journey and I am happy to say I have lost 65 pounds. Choosing the band with plication was the best decision ever. You will find tremendous support here and some great people...but like B-52 said, your doctor and their team should ALWAYS be the people you listen to first and foremost. You will also find some negative nellies on here, at times, do not let them scare you away. If you have questions, silly or not, ask your doctor and get clarification from them. And my most important piece of advice, in the few months of this new lifestyle, is to remember that this is a JOURNEY not a quick road trip. We did not gain our weight over night and it is not going to come off over night. Try not to compare yourself to others here. Rates of weight loss are so individual and the type of surgery and your body type play such an important and individual role in your outcomes....but always remember....YOU CAN AND WILL BE ABLE TO DO IT...NO MATTER HOW HARD IT MAY GET AT TIMES! Wishing the best of New Year's and all the best in 2014....it's going to be a wonderful year! -

Stop worrying about the scale.....there will be plenty of time for that! The first 6 weeks (as per my doctor) is all about HEALING and following the recommended diet by your doctor so that you can heal properly and safely! You are probably bloated which is why the scale hasnt moved...I've posted this several times before and I will say my opinion once again.... WLS IS NOT A QUICK ROAD TRIP....IT IS JOURNEY!! We did not gain all of our weight in one day, one week or even one month or year. It is not going to come off like that either. My suggestion to you is to RELAX, follow your doctors plan for healing and take each day as it comes and it will happen.....IT WILL! Best of luck to you.....happy new year too!

A Primed Band Is A Filled Band
chasingadream replied to Sojourner's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This site has become so unpleasant to be on lately....i try to follow the few who have been there to support me from LBT...and find I always let myself get sucked in to these kinds of things. I am only 3 months out and have lost 64lbs. My band was NOT primed and YES I DO HAVE PLICATION. And triple YES I HAVE NOT HAD A FILL. I eat my 3 meals and a snack and am happy and content! Am I bragging....ummmm yes maybe...but after so many, many, many years of dieting failure and feeling so bad about myself I am going to brag and sing to anyone who will listen. And if you dont like that then feel free to block me! Everyone hear talks about educating themselves about the different types of WLS that is available...and I did just that. I could have had just the band but chose to research more and was offered the opportunity for plication. With that, I am happy with my decision and I will brag or not brag to whomever would like to listen! Since everyone makes their own educated choice then they should know that bandster hell exists and some people dont have it....and I will not crawl under a rock and disappear because I am not as miserable as some else. Do I feel badly for those....absolutely. TMF said it perfectly....what kind of holiday cheer goes on here....Merry Christmas to all those supportive friends I have made and hoping for a Happy AND Healthy New Year to all..... -
25 Days till my lap band
chasingadream replied to Lbktxgal's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am newly banded....3 mos out and my best piece of advice is to ask your doctor every and any question you have no matter how ridiculous or silly you may think it is. You will find all kinds of views here on getting banded....good, bad, ugly and very successful. I ran screaming from here several times changing my mind because of what I read. I did my research, asked all my questions, founds some wonderful new friends here for support and have been so happy and successful with my decision. food no longer rules my life...I can eat everything I want with NO deprivation and havent needed a fill yet either. Its a whole new world for me when it comes to food and it is invigorating and liberating! Wishing you all the success you deserve...keep us posted and hang in there! -
I agree with you Manda.... It's a joyous time of year and food is a part of that....I am NOT on a diet FINALLY and am so happy about that. I do not deprive myself of anything I want this time of year...for some of the delights I will not see again until next Christmas so I indulge. Yes, I do....one little bite or one piece and I account for every thing that goes in my mouth. I pick and choose what I want to have and TRULY enjoy that bite or piece. And then I move on...onto celebrating with friends and family and watching my two little ones enjoy everything about the season. Stop making it about the food...remember why you started on this journey. Nothing I can or will eat will feel nearly as good as the 64 lbs I've lost and how wonderful I feel....thats what I try to remember when I am tempted by the goodies of the holiday.

Merry Christmas friend! Sorry to hear that you are once again stressed beyond your limits. Hopefully we will get together soon! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! Loved the card!

A Christmas Miracle
chasingadream replied to gowalking's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I've followed you since I became a member on LBT and what you have done is such a terrific accomplishment. You truly inspire someone who is only 3 months out and whose knees and back have always been a source of pain! I have lost about 60 lbs and feel so much better about myself....I have a ways to go but I take each day as it comes....do my very best and rely on here for the support from people such as yourself.... ...so THANK YOU...wishing you a very happy AND healthy New Year! -
That makes me sad to hear that people are leaving....I've noticed that I haven't seen quite a few people lately and haven't been able to figure out if I just dont know where to find them or if they have left and moved on. To those who have left I will miss them and their support and advice and wisdom.... To those sticking around continuing to share their support and advice and wisdom I say THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I look forward to seeing you and reading what you have to say...you are inspirational to those of us who are just starting out!
