    Cold intolerance

Yes, freezing here too!! Used to love winter because I was always so HOT...now I can't bundle up enough...always sitting on the couch with a blanket too...my husband laughs! I always have a sweater on too! My hubby is now hoping the central air won't be so darn cold now come this summer!...LOL
  2. Good luck and let us know how you are feeling....

The Witching Hour - what do you do?

It's tough...I have a 3 1/2 and 7 year old and besides preparing the foods actually sitting and enjoying the meal is tough with the distractions, and talking and questioning and the COMPLAINING....LOL. I, too, am grateful for the family dinners together but it is hard. I try to drink but that doesnt always work and sometimes I just have a little bite of whatever I'm making. That little bite curbs the desire to eat more until dinner. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesnt. Sorry, not the best advice but all I've got...its a day to day battle....good luck and keep us posted!

    Day 6 and feeling pain

I had something similar...it was by my port...my doctor just said he didnt feel it was anything but the muscle getting used to/healing where they sewed the port too. It went away in a few days. But was triggered by the way i moved. Hasnt been back since. Thats just my experience...call your doc if you are concerned...they are the best ones to answer your ????'s. Good luck and let us know!

    12 year bandiversary!

What wonderful success...good for you! Great to hear a success story from someone who has the band long term!
  8. Sounds like you are off to a great start....and finding the answers within yourself is always the most important step in this journey. And please, never forget, this IS A JOURNEY...there are no quick fixes, you still need to be accountable to yourself for every bite of food that goes into your mouth and it IS NOT A QUICK FIX to food addiction or emotional eating. (in my opinion) I take each day as it comes and am accountable to myself for everything that I eat. I don't deprive myself of anything and am happily finding success on my own weight loss journey. Now I can look in the mirror and I can finally see the fruits of my labor ( on most days) and I feel good about myself both physically and mentally...and it is truly a WONDERFUL feeling. Wishing you all the best...and keep us posted!

Congrats to you...it is an exciting time!!!!! Nervous and excited are totally normal....follow your docs instructions....rest after surgery and make sure you give yourself time to heal. Grocery Shopping Carts and Being Nosey

I too check out others carts....thinking back to my days when I was 70 lbs heavier. Although I made bad choices for myself, and rarely and especially now, DO NOT allow my kids to consume the crap that I did. I am happy to say that my 3 1/2 and 7 year old do not like soda of any kind and the Snacks they eat are healthy/healthier choices. Do they enjoy a mini bag of m&m's on occasion and a chocolate chip cookie....absolutely....but i am more conscious of my choices for them....and that is what it comes down to when you have little children....MY CHOICES FOR THEM....A 3 AND 7 YEAR OLD NEED GUIDANCE!! I hope to instill in them the ability to choose good foods now so that they will never go through the weight issues I did.

    Banders Exercise

Cold here in NY...I cleaned and cleaned and cleaned for over an hour....doing things I couldnt do 70 lbs ago! Made my hubby's day...that much less he has to do now! I'm learning that exercise doesn't always have to be an "activity"....just moving more is exercise too. Looking forward to some warmer weather here...can't wait to get back outside and do my walking.
  16. It's a tough one and I feel there is definately a trial and error and a learning curve going on. I felt the same way when I started eating solid food after surgery....afraid one morsel too much would pop my stitches or stretch my pouch. I grew up with the clean your plate club and never left the table w/out feeling like I was about to burst. Today I am 4 months post op and I'm STILL learning...especially at dinner. Breakfast and lunch are fine. I think because my meal is portioned out and I'm done. At dinner i weigh my 3-4 oz of Protein and can accurately eye ball my veggies and little bit of carb. But sometimes i still eat too fast and take too big of bites. Plus there is always more to reach for. I feel a pressure in my chest when i eat too fast...my "tell" for that. I've heard people say they have a "sign" that tells them when they are "good". I've been listening and still dont have something that is blaring to me...but I have noticed a big sigh alot in the middle of my meal and have to learn to stop at that point. It is hard to feel satiety when your used to always bypassing it to the stuffed stage.....but i'm learning. I've never gotten stuck and have only had one case of OMG....what did i do I ate TOO much. Its an individual thing...as with everything else about WLS...just slow down and try to really listen to what your body is telling you.... Wishing you all the best...keep us posted!

NSVs can pop up for the oddest things...

That's a good NSV...I had a funny one last night at dinner....I dropped a piece of chicken and it landed between my legs on my chair....yes, ON MY CHAIR....in the past (70 lbs ago to be precise) there was no chair to see under me-- the chicken would have just fallen on my lap. LOL...I was so excited I called my hubby over to see the chicken on the chair....LOL....stupid I know but funny and it felt good!

    Please read....

Thanks for that great post...it is a journey and there are lots of worries....before, during and after....I am 4 months out and feeling great and am happy with my weight loss so far. There are still worries in my mind about what the future holds, will there be problems--can I keep it off, unlike so many times before. When that happens I look in the mirror and see where I am now and think about where I want to go and then I just say to myself....one day at a time....today is here and now and that is what i focus on!

How much did you lose on post-op diets?

I lost 20 on the pre-op.... Post op I lost 8 the first two weeks and then 10 over the next month. Everyones pre and post op are going to be different.....I had 2 week liquid pre-op then 2 week liquid post op then 2 weeks mushies and then onto solids... Hoping you are not doing any comparing with all these #'s...everyone loses at different rates! So far I am super excited about my losses...just taking it one day at a time!
