I'm going for my fifth fill this week. So frustrated. I haven't lost any weight but I maintained. I'm less hungry between meals but that's not what I need the most. I need to feel full or satisfied when I'm eating and that's not happening. I can eat I ton. I try not to buy I could. I eat slower and chew more, but that's it. Is this normal? Will this work for me?
-
I eat mostly egg whites, chicken, veggies. Do treats I have brown rice crackers or low carb ice cream. I don't drink anything with calories and I don't drink with my meals.
-
I get that I'm not supposed to be stuffed. I try not to eat more and generally I don't, but I got a band for a reason. I should feel less hungry.
-
Do you feel full with small amounts now?

Ahhh...the mystical green zone!
Bandakat412 replied to jbandster's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had bypass, lost 110, gained 40 and got the band, lost 8, gained 5, so I'm basically stagnant. I just found out I have hypothyroidism, but I know if I were eating less I would lose. I've had two fills, the first fairly large. I don't feel it though. I could chug water in the office post fill. -
How long does banister hell last? I'm about three months in. Other than getting chicken stuck, I don't feel like I have a band. I'm exercising 5 days a week...a lot...but I know I'm eating too much. If I could dirt successfully without help, I wouldn't have gotten the band. Is this feeling of hopelessness normal? Does the green zone really change things that dramatically? Help!!

ETA: "Pick me up"

You are a blessing. I really needed that. No one has said to me that they were lost post surgery and then got found! Specifically with the calorie/volume thing anyway. I don't want to be a failure. Especially since I was self pay and this is my last resort. Not giving up!! Thanks for the luck me up.

OMG. I so needed this. I really almost teared up. I was banded in may. I get stuck on chicken but otherwise I'm hungry all the time and can eat large portions. I try not to, but if I could do this on my own, I would have. I hope I'm in your shoes soon. Keep me updated!! -
Thanks ladies. I'm not making 1200- closer to 1400. Shouldn't be so bad since I'm getting 5 hours of cardio in a week but I have no metabolism. Anyway, thanks. I needed to hear that pre-green feels like nothing. I need hope!! I have so much will, but not so much willpower with food. That's why I need a tool!

I have my first follow up tomorrow...but not with my lapband surgeon...with my bypass surgeon. I had bypass in 2008, got to my happy place, and then gained 45 lbs. I went to Mexico and got band over bypass. My stoma was enormous and I was hungry all the time. I tried and failed over and over again, trying to lose the regain. I went to Mexico for band over bypass. I called my local surgeon before I left and generically asked if they do fills for patients who didn't have the band there...they said yes. So I'm hoping tomorrow they follow through. I'm so worried. I'm eating like I was pre band. I guess this is banister hell. I'm always hungry. I hope I don't fail at this...I hope the band works for me...so nervous! Prayers, positive vibes- Whatev! Please send help. Lol :-) Thanks for listening.

Yes. I can get fills for free from my surgeon in Mexico. The problem is getting there. I've had plastic surgery in the US and in Mexico and I had better care in Mexico. Complications are a significant concern, but surgery in the US wasn't an option.

I have no evidence to support this- just what I read when researching- a lot of people with realize said they had trouble feeling restriction because its so low pressure.
-
I hate to say this but I'm pessimistic about doctors- it doesn't sound like he's in your corner. He may be great otherwise, but if he doesn't believe the band can work and he's your mechanic, things can never run smoothly.

Weight is NOT calories in calories out. Sorry! I say that with all due respect but metabolism is one of the most complicated things on earth. The same calorie foods may be digested differently- how they raise/lower blood sugar, cause cellular inflamation, contain Fiber, etc. That being said, its really easy to eat more than you record- an extra spoonful here, tast there. Be honest with yourself. Eat low glycemic, non processed foods and especially avoid sugar and bread of any kind. If you kept your exercise the same, change it. Your body adapts. You either need new type or higher intensity. M And as the above poster said, its possible to retain 5 lbs in Water. Best of luck!!!

Hi all, I had a partial fill during my surgery a little over a month ago...prob more than most surgeons give, but def not e bought to fill restriction. I don't try to test it at all, but when I was STARVING the other day, I ate a giant egg white omlette without ever feeling full. M I've eaten lots if things now with no problem- fish of all kinds, veggies, ground meat. Yesterday I are Thai ginger chicken at lunch no prob. I reheated it today, ate a piece and thought I would die from it being stuck. Anyway, does this mean I'm near the green zone or is chicken just the devil?

Newbie question
Bandakat412 replied to Bandakat412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah. I'm band over bypass so I had that with my bypass, but I always had restriction with it. It feels weird to be able to eat as much flounder as I want but one bite of chicken can make me foam at the mouth. I just need to feel like there is FULLNESS down the road with a fill..in addition to poultryphobia! Lol -
Newbie question
Bandakat412 replied to Bandakat412's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well that makes me feel a little better! I had no sense of ever having restriction are being full I was actually worried about the chicken thing! I'm happy to know that chickens are just the devil. LOL -
Newbie question

Sorry for all the typos!! -
Hi. I hate this question so please don't yell at be about everyone is different. I want to do well! I have surgery may 31st, lost 10 lbs quick (the water), and pretty much nothing for 8 days. It should be too erly to plateau (after 1 week of loss nothing for week 2) I'm eating about 800-900 calories on soft foods, mostly from Greek yogurt and sf pudding. I'm getting about 80-90g of Protein and walking 30 min per day (port and hernia repair still hurt or I'd do more). Advice?? I tried to cut out sugar except what's in the milk products.
-
Don't tell at me! I know tight is bad... I'm 8 days post op and I'm dying to feel the band quietly at work. How long did your doctor make you wait between fills at the beginning? I've heard quite a range so I'm just trying to see the range. Thanks!
-
I had too much done to guess the cost of one procedure. I would contact him- for an estimate- dr. Franscisco Sauceda in Monterrey, MX.
-
Yes at the Time my insurance was paying for a panniculectomy- skin removal. I was paying for breasts. It was still cheaper to pay for and get all the surgery done in Mexico than to have part paid for here. I think a true tummy tuck here runs close to 10k. Plus I knew people who has used my surgeon. Just emailed him today....and got a response within two hours. I think I saw my RNY doc once in 5 years after surgery.

Your doctor sounds like an asshat. My inner fat girl just got crazy angry. I hate when people say "well go lose weight". Duh you have to try no matter the surgery, but if we could go lose weight without surgery, we wouldn't be here!!!
-
I've seen people post that even really early (first few months), their surgeon won't fill the band if the patient loss sufficient weight. That seems like punishment? Anyone else's doctor do this? Anyone can follow a diet for a month or two but we got the surgery to use (though not abuse) the tool, right? I don't want to burn out on willpower before I'm ALLOWED to get a fill.
