what happens if I throw up a lot the day of surgery?
kshannon replied to scarletlaj's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Let them know bout your reaction. I know they pre-medicated me with several types of anti-nausea meds during surgery, it helped tremendously -
That gives me hope, I'm just fresh off the slice & dice table today .... Hoping this gets easier (I know it will). Cheers to us & our fresh bands!!!

Tomorrow I join the other side ...

Sorry I started to post & accidentally hit send .... The gas pains are uncomfortable & a different pain than my incisions. I feel bloated and that feeling if you have a big fart trapped so you are uncomfortable - once you let it go there is relief. I've been burping & that's helped. Also taking gas-ex dissolvable strips & that has seemed to help. I'm currently laying with a heating pad & that has made this slightly easier. You are just going to be very uncomfortable ... I'm trying to think if other ways to describe the gas pain -

The gas just hurts ... Not like a 10/10 but it's uncomfortable. I found when they allowed me to start sit up and the to walk is when I felt the change or movement if gads in my body. -

We'll, I'm officially banded. I was just discharged home, sore but doing well. The gas is mainly in my chest right now - doing my deep breathing exercises and using hot packs. Thanks for the support -
I work with a bunch of doctors .... That doesn't seem to stop them from drinking it. I've never hear of coffee causing cancer, just take anything in moderation. Just remember caffeine dehydrates you, so drink your water

Plus a 2 week liquid diet where I had to buy their protein shakes ... Every surgeon is a bit different
-
I have Blue Cross Blue Shield - they didn't require the 6 month diet or meeting with a primary care doc every month. I did meet with the dietitian twice, (personal meeting & then a class), psychologist, group meeting, support group, ultrasound of my abdomen, pulmonologist & pre-op testing (blood work, upper GI, chest & abdomen x-Ray and EKG).

Congrats!!!

I meant "I'm in ...." Stupid fat fingers. I'm getting banded this Friday

Where do you live? I'm I. The NW suburbs of chicago. Who did your surgery?
-
Well ... Started my liquid diet today & like thousands before me have stated: This sucks!!! I hope it gets easier as the days progress. What I don't understand is how is something with 43 grams of protein not help the hunger & keep me satisfied, I swear these proteins shakes go straight thru me ... I'm staying strong, but tomorrow is going to be tough since I'm going to conference & there will be a ton of food surrounding me. Here's to all those going thru the liquid diet!!

impromptu party at my house
kshannon replied to intelirish's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just pick yourself up, dust yourself off and continue on the right path. Just remind yourself you only have a few more days to go. I'm in your shoes in the way of pre-op diet, my sx is on Friday. Man, I would probably kill someone for a nice piece of meat right now - almost gave in last night when we went to a town outdoor event & it's my husband that keeps unknowing trying to sabotage me ... I had to leave him there and walk home b/c I would have given in & ate something .... -
Where do you live? The suburbs or the city. I'm in the northwest suburbs

I bet that steak tasted soooo good!!!! And lettuce tacos sound just as good right now ...I'm on day 7 and the hunger has gotten better. I noticed I'm more acutely aware of all smells ... I smell everything - even if its so far away. I have just tried to remove myself from the actual site of the offending food ... I made sure I sat in the other room as my husband ate pizza tonight ... Funny thing is he is the one asking me to cheat ... stating who would know ... As I told him, I would & I need to know I can do this. I only gave in to licking the spoonful of peanut butter I was putting into my shake
-
I now have a running joke with my partners at work (I work on an ambulance) about wanting a taco .... Especially every time i smell their tasty lunches!!!

I'm banded on the September 20th ... I'm currently at 274, I'm 5'8" ... So I have a long road to travel. My goal is to be at least down 40 lbs by Christmas (hoping for more). I'm on day 5 of my liquid diet, I found by yesterday things started to become much easier ... First 3 days where hell for me. Good luck on your journey - if you need a band buddy, I'm more than willing.

Any other September 2013 bandsters?
kshannon replied to Irishflower79's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I'm jealous of some of the diets ... If I could eat veggies & fruit it would blissful!!! But alas, I'm on 4-5 protein drinks, SF jello, SF Popsicles & broth. -
Day 3 has been hard, b/w my nephew's b-day party (I really wanted the tacos they made) and the smell of bacon in the air due to my husband making it ... It's been tough. I drank a protein shake before I left for the party but it didn't hold me over. I came home with a horrible headache & also the feeling of the detoxing from sugar & carbs. I haven't given in ... I just really want a taco!!
-
I'm finding the hardest time getting a shake in every 3-4 hours, my job is very on the go & non-scheduled. So I'm more annoyed at the hunger than anything else ... What I really want is the protein shake to hold me over longer than 2 hours. It's hard to have the extra stuff (SF Popsicles & broth) at work when when I don't have access to either a microwave or freezer.

Thanks, maybe I'll aim for something in November

I'm sure this has been ask before but I can't seem to fin the question: how soon after surgery were you able to start exercising? My friend wants me to do a 10k walk/run ... It will be approximately 6 weeks out post surgery, is that too soon to think about going for it?

Thanks

I'm so excited, I finally have my surgery date - which is September 20th. I can't believe that close to 1 month I get it, I've waited over a year & half to get it ... I'm thinking that its going to be worth the wait, but I know that's when the really hard work begins
