plastic surgeon. Just going to say it!

RJ Don't ever apologize for venting in here. We're here for you as you've always been here for us. You've had to endure way more BS than most and that's not fair. While things may not work out with the plastics, think about your weight loss successes. Don't let this plastic surgeon get to you. Based on his behavior you should probably avoid him anyway ... 5. Rosie has a long history of being an imbecile. Her a$$holiness never ceases to amaze me. Sorry to resort to name-calling, but she brings out the worst in me ... Like many in Hollywood, she's confusing her fame with being a subject matter expert.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

I remained the same last week. Still sticking to the program so not sure if my body is naturally stopping the weight loss process, as my doctor said would happen, or just a stall ... Getting pressure to stop losing weight from several people but I'd like to lose another 5 to 10.

How much weight did you lose preop?

I was forced to do a 3-week pre-op diet due to gaining weight close to surgery date (food funerals). I lost 31 pounds in 3 weeks ...

    please tell me the truth

I'd be more concerned about continuing to want pizza than being able to eat pizza. I love that I no longer desire pizza and hope that never stops. Pizza is one of reasons I needed WLS.
  9. You may want to discuss with your nut, as the appropriate calories for you will depend on several factors including BMI, gender, and level of exercise. When I was about 4 months out, my nut recommended I increase from 1000 to 1200 and my rate of weight loss actually increased. She said that given my level of exercising my body was storing fat at 1000 calories. Do speak to your nut about this ...
  10. I reached my initial goal, which was a semi-random number I came up with and my wife is under the impression that I'm anorexic because I'm unwilling to stop losing. I'm wearing 34 pants, which I'm happy about, but have fatty love handles and thighs. My BMI still indicates overweight but my muscular frame negates that number. My bariatric office is very happy with my progress and said my body will naturally stop losing when I've reached an ideal weight. However I'm not completely buying that as I feel I have some control if that via my caloric intake. This is becoming a very hot topic in our household as of late and now my daughter is chiming in too. I've encouraged my wife to attend my next PCP appointment coming up next month, but I am getting tired of all the whining. Too fat ... Too skinny ... I think 6 more pounds will be good and I'm telling her I will follow the advice of the doctors (PCP, cardiologist, surgeon, and nephroligist), which I think is the responsible thing to do .... Any recommendations on how to deal with this ?

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

  12. Thanks for all the helpful and encouraging feedback everyone. Today, my wife agreed to attend my next Dr appointment and I'm sure he'll agree with me, that I've not gone too far. While the BMI scales may not be perfect, they certainly do seem like a reasonable guideline. With a BMI of 29.3, there's no way I'm too thin and they need to come to grips with that. My wife and daughter are both overweight, although not excessively. While there may be some animosity on their part, I do think (as others have mentioned) that they're simply not used to seeing me at this weight and that time may help that. Meanwhile, I'm going to continue losing until I, along with my 3 doctors, believe I'm at an optimal weight. Thanks again ...
  13. I don't have time to go to a gym, so I bought a bowflex machine and love it. It doesn't build bulk muscle as is the case with free weights, which suits my needs well.
  14. I'm 9 months post-op and I've recently noticed that the incision above my belly button has a hard bump beneath. It's not protruding out, but when touched the bump is very noticeable. I'm really hoping this isn't an incisional hernia. Anyone else have this issue?

  16. I love that food is no longer such a big source of entertainment in my life and hoping it stays that way. After you've lost lots of weight I think your priorities will change too.

    Pre-op required 4 month diet

I have CIGNA and did the 4-month monitored diet. They didn't have any weight loss requirements and the rules were loosely defined. During that time I lost 15 pounds and gained back 11. I was approved but my dr made me do a 2-week preop diet and I lost 31 pounds during that. You can review CIGNA's requirements here: https://cignaforhcp.cigna.com/public/content/pdf/coveragePolicies/medical/mm_0051_coveragepositioncriteria_bariatric_surgery.pdf
  18. While I'm grateful to be at goal, my rate of loss has leveled out and I'm noticing some old habits showing up again. Still exercising hard and logging every crumb. But, I'm consuming 3 granola bars a day and wasabi peas seem to be a problem. I measure 30 grams but end up going back for more and more ... I should probably cut out the wasabi peas and restrict myself to 2 bars a day. My concern is that the cravings are coming back and I'm giving in to them. I'm so afraid of regaining.

Old Habits At 8.5 Months Out

Still having some difficulty with the wasabi peas. But, still somehow lost 1 pound this week. I guess as long as I'm logging, keeping my calories within limits and working out, the weight will continue coming off ...

Old Habits At 8.5 Months Out

Thanks for all of the encouraging words, everyone. I intend to keep exercising, logging, and trying very hard to control the cravings that have once again appeared. Also, going to try my best to make good food choices, as so far I've not given in to any junk food (unless wasabi peas are considered junk food). It seems like just yesterday I was trying to increase my calories, as recommended by my nut, and having difficulty doing so.
