Vets: What Are You Eating Today?

Actually I don't eat all of that at once. Spaced out between 10:30 am and 3 pm. But total calories for the day around 1700. I'm in maintenance and told by nut to keep calories below 1900 and that's worked well. Okay, that makes way more sense. So it's not really a "meal" more like a morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack? Or do you actually graze that who time? I was told grazing is a big no-no and have tried to avoid it like the plague. Yes, I'm a controlled grazer, but it's worked for me. I measure/log every crumb so spreading out pre-allocated portions hasn't been a problem.

Vets: What Are You Eating Today?

I'm 2.25 years out and 2 pounds above goal. BREAKFAST: 80-Calorie yogurt Atkins Protein bar Apple 6 shots of espresso lunch 4 Oz crabmeat with 1 tablespoon low calorie mayo 100 grams chick pea salad 3 Oz plain potato (spray butter) 8 Oz fresh melon 2 shots espresso dinner Miso Soup Salmon sashimi Salmon sushi roll
  4. PCP does it annually and surgeon annually so I space 6 months apart and results to all Dr's. At 27 months out, results continue to be very good. But, I'm so careful about eating healthy, they should be. Sometimes I surprise myself about the huge transformation. It's turned into more than the physical restriction provided by the sleeve into a psychological transformation and I'm not sure how that happened. Possibly driven by my loving the way I feel and wanting to preserve that...

    Need a Healthy Snack

I'm 2 years post-op and 13 pounds above my lowest weight, but slowly climbing. I'm pretty sure my problem is daily snacking on sugary Cereal (Duh). Upon getting home from work I snack on 2 cups of cereal, and while I log this and keep my daily calories in check, I think the sugar and carbs are a problem. Any recommendations on a healthy after work snack? Crunchy is good and maybe a little sweet too. Thanks ...

    Need a Healthy Snack

I'm the OP with an update: after cutting out cereal as my afternoon snack and replacing with hummas and celery, I've slowly dropped 8 of the 13 pounds gained from lowest.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

It's great to hear from the 12/13 members. I've wondered how everyone's been doing on many occasions. I'm holding my own in maintenance, staying within a few pounds of my lowest weight. It remains a challenge and is a constant battle. I continue to measure and log all food and still working out hard and regularly.

    Does Feeling Full End?

At 26 months out, I still have significant restriction and continue to feel full after about 4 ounces of Protein (chicken, beef or fish). I usually wait a little while and then have vegetables and maybe small amount of starch.

    Do You Log Your Food?

I use CalorieCount and have been very pleased overall. However, one feature it's missing is integration with the Microsoft Band 2.

    Need a Healthy Snack

Since my original posting 1.5 weeks ago, I'm down 5 pounds as a result of cutting out sugary cereal. While my daily calories are down a little, carbs are down 50 - 75 daily, which I think was the problem. Thanks again for the great snacking recommendations. I've replaced the cereal with celery, cukes, and/or carrots dipped in hummus.

    Do You Log Your Food?

I still log all food and exercise at 25 months out. Lost about 150 pounds and reached goal in 9 months. Gained 10 pounds in the last 6 months but recently lost 4. I use CalorieCount.com on my phone. For me, this is a necessary part of the process. I compensate for deficient nutrients, know when I have to stop eating, and know when I have some capacity for a small treat.

    COFFEE

I drink 6 shots of espresso in my travel mug while driving to work and have a large dark roast with 2 shots after lunch. No problems

    COFFEE

My surgeon said they used to discourage coffee but stopped. I drank lots pre op and continue to drink quite a bit post op and it's never been a problem.

    Need a Healthy Snack

"Quality of food" is huge, cowgirl. Early in the process, my surgeon stressed that the surgery won't help with food choices and how it's my responsibility to control that part. While I'm proud of my food choices, it continues to be difficult avoiding all of the junk food from my past. I think my 6-month sugary cereal thing was my biggest slip back to the old habits. Just glad I cut it out before it got out of control.

    Need a Healthy Snack

My replacement for the sugary cereal (since Monday) has been carrots, cukes and celery dipped in hummus (5 measured tablespoons). Had a little smoked salmon (2 oz) one day to mix it up.

I hope you don't end up looking gaunt...

Regarding sushi, I've had it every week since about 2 months out. I get 1 small roll, a little sashimi, and miso Soup. Not bad ... P.S. Engineers can be introverts and lack social skills, but many of us are outgoing and have a crazy sense of humor.

Congrats on all of your successes. My surgery was 1 day after yours - 12/10/2013. Amazing how quickly time passes. Enjoy the ride ...

    Need a Healthy Snack

For me, it's all about logging food and exercise. I evaluate my net calories each day and add deficient nutrients as needed. My cereal thing went on for 6 months and I made adjustments in caloric intake to allow for this, but the added carbs were causing gains. I'm still down 153 pounds from all time high, but 10 pounds above my all time low. Hoping to lose 7 pounds and then maintain.

    Need a Healthy Snack

I'm down 3 pounds since Monday when I stopped snacking on sugary cereal. While my calories are somewhat unchanged, carbs down 50 - 75 daily.

    Need a Healthy Snack

I didn't mention that I had an appointment with my surgeon 3 weeks ago, 2 years post op. He wasn't concerned about my overall small gain from lowest weight, saying that people rarely remain at their lowest weight. But, it's making me crazy that I see a small difference in my love handles and I'm determined to at least lose those completely again.

    Need a Healthy Snack

Calorie math is correct and I diligently log everything. However, my carbs and sugar intake increased when I introduced the cereal snacking. My weekly workout regimen: 2 days spin class 3 days weight lifting 40 minutes 1 day running and elliptical 45 minutes total Seasonally - cross country skiing or mountain biking. I really believe it's all about the sugar and carbs from the cereal. Sometimes 2 cups of cereal/day turned into 3 cups. Funny thing how carbs/sugar have that affect ...
