Anyone ever have second thoughts?
Andrew0929 replied to cutiepieinchi's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone was "scared or nervous" like you. It's a very natural reaction. However, nearly everyone wishes they'd done this sooner when asked afterward. I can't believe how much better I feel and how much happier I am after losing all of this weight. -
My mom won't stop telling people...
Andrew0929 replied to LWren's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I didn't tell my mother. She needled me about losing weight for 40 years and still would have complained about my having surgery to do so. Also she'd have told half the people in North America and she usually provides details inaccurately. Glad I didn't tell her. -
Work out = weight gain
Andrew0929 replied to lmdx0sleeved's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This could be due to adding muscle of which weighs more than fat. If you're losing inches you're succeeding. -

Eating at restaurants/ Fast food places
Andrew0929 replied to LynRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm trying to minimize my eating out as I'm working hard to undo the effects of many years of eating out frequently. At this point I'm going out for sashimi and having seaweed salad with it. Also getting Chinese takeout shrimp with mixed vegetables and just steamed without any sauce. I forgo the rice and put my own low sodium soy sauce on it. -
Be honest - does anyone regret the surgery?
Andrew0929 replied to TvlGrl712's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I went through a period where I did regret being sleeved. I had internal bleeding 5 days post op and had a second surgery as well as a ride to the the ER in an ambulance. I'm told I almost died as my BP was 60/25. Got through that and was back in the ER with abdominal pain 3 weeks later. Needless to say I regretted being sleeved while going through that and told my surgeon exactly that. His response was that he'd ask me the same question in 3 months. Now 3 months out and down 90 pounds I no longer regret being sleeved. I'm off 7 of 8 meds and expect to lose my last med soon and feel great. I would go through the same process again, including the second surgery, to achieve the results I've experienced. -
All these complications...is it worth it?
Andrew0929 replied to Flutterfly19's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 3 months out and am among the few that had complications. I followed all the rules, chose an excellent surgeon, but had internal bleeding and a second surgery 5 days after being sleeved. My first month post op I had regrets, given what I'd gone through. However, at 3 months out and 87 pounds lost, I'm really glad I did this and would do it again even with the second surgery. I'm off 7 of 8 meds, diabetes cured, and last med will be eliminated in a month or two. -

Ghrelin ? Still hungry?
Andrew0929 replied to Llunker's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
At 3 months out, I feel very little hunger and food doesn't interest me much. I'm hoping that continues as I don't miss it. -
which chewable calcium supplement& Multivitamin did you take post op
Andrew0929 replied to liguy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Regarding calcium supplements, the only ones that didn't make me want to barf were the bariatric advantage calcium chews. I love all 4 flavors. They have d3 and calcium in the chews. -
Do you still enjoy food?
Andrew0929 replied to vincereautmori's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
food used to be very high in my list of priorities. Now at 3 months out, I think about it much less and it's no longer a form of entertainment. I guess I still enjoy it but it matters so much less to me that it's become more of a necessity issue than a source of enjoyment. I welcome this change and hope this lasts forever. -
I hit my goal! 100 pounds (with pics)!

OUCH, OUCH, OUCH! Did I eat too fast?
Andrew0929 replied to HumanMerelyBeing's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Same here ... I have to really concentrate on eating slowly. The pain from eating too much or too fast is a good incentive to control it. -
I'm almost 3 months out and down 85 pounds. At this point I don't regret surgery but earlier I did. I had internal bleeding 5 days post op requiring a second surgery and an ambulance ride to the ER. I almost died. At that point I wished I'd not done the sleeve. I followed all the rules pre op and chose a great surgeon, but things can still go wrong. I never thought I'd be the one that had complications. Now, down 85 pounds and feeling great I'm glad I did it. I'm off 7 out of 8 meds and much healthier.

Interesting ... I'm almost 3 months out and I continue to be more sensitive to smells. Mostly that some smells annoy me now that didn't beforehand.

Governor Chris Christie and the Lap-Band
Andrew0929 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm actually a big fan of Gov Christy and while I'm not crazy about the band I still give him credit for taking some action to deal with his obesity. However, from the pictures I'm seeing it really doesn't look like he's dropped 100 pounds. He is a politician so maybe 100 is really 50 ... -
December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Andrew0929 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
---- Weighed in at 196.6 this morning and have an appointment scheduled with my surgeon and NUT after work today. Hope they are happy with my progress thus far. I still want sushi rolls, lol. Happy Monday everyone! I've been having sashimi twice a week lately. Great source of protein without a lot of calories and my sleeve seems to be ok with it. -
December 2013 Sleevers Come In!
Andrew0929 replied to AtlantaRed's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on 12/10/2013 and am down 84 pounds. I average about 675 calories/day and exercise 4 or 5 days/week. Aside from my ongoing constipation, things are going very well. -
December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log
Andrew0929 replied to RunningA5K's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
No loss this week. In a stall which is hard to accept, given that I only consume 650 - 750 calories a day and exercise regularly and increasingly. I've read all of the theories behind stalls and I'm sure they're correct. Another theory of mine is that if working out hard muscle is being built and muscle is heavier than fat. I did lose an inch on my waist this week, as least. Sticking to the program .... -
I thought the same way pre-op and worried about not being able to change post op. But now post op 10 weeks out I'm not interested in Chinese food. I can only eat 2 oz per meal so I don't really care about what I'm having as the 2 oz are gone so quickly. It's easy to just have something healthy.
