  1. I just puked in my mouth thinking about them ... I tried 12 different kinds and hated them all. Forced them down pre op but couldn't post op. I took pleasure in throwing away $150 worth of shakes ...

4 months.. How much can you eat?

At 4.5 months out I'm only able to consume 3 - 3.5 oz per meal. I'm hoping it stays this way. ...

    Hardest thing for you?

So far the hardest thing for me is dealing with ongoing constipation.

    Giving Up your favorite foods

I had the same worries pre-op and now at 4.5 months out I somehow don't crave the foods I was addicted to beforehand. Everyone is different but that's been my experience.
  6. At 4.5 months out I don't eat out often. Before surgery , we ate out 4-5 times a week which was one of my big problems. I've gone to a sushi place several times and gotten sashimi and seaweed salad, but otherwise I really don't trust my old places as I know they're loading up everything with butter and oil. I think my wife misses going out, but she's lost weight by following my new lifestyle. I really don't miss it.
  7. It's not a problem for me, but once I take my glasses off I can't see the difference anyway.

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval

Overall, I have to say that CIGNA was very good about approving me quickly and not jerking me around when paying the bills.

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval

I feel for you. My surgeon and his medical staff were great but his insurance coordinator sucks and she has a tude. While it wax painful working with her it all worked out in the end and was approved by Cigna within 7 days. Best of luck. ...

    Constipation ... ugh!

Is that a prescription or over-the-counter med?

    Constipation ... ugh!

At 4.5 months out that continues to be a problem for me even as I've added more fruits and vegetables to my diet. I'm now taking a prescription med and have had limited success. Just made an appointment with a GI doctor.

Best app with detailed nutritional breakdown?

My favorite is calorieCount.com which is available through the web or as an app. I found the food lookup information to be the most complete and the app has all the features I wanted without a lot of unnecessary things confusing the issues.

    Stall :( 4 1/2 months

I'm also 4.5 months out and while I've had pretty good weight loss so far, it has slowed quite a lot in the past few weeks . Sounds like you could benefit from increased exercising. I've tried to continually increase my level of exercising and I think that's helped although I've leveled off in my exercising recently and my weight loss seemed to level off at the same time. Just bought p90x program and will start that tonight in an effort to kick start my weight loss again. My nut recommended that as I add more calories I should increase the exercise ...

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

No change this week, which annoys me. I'm actually down .6 pounds but have gone up and down all week. I guess this is a stall and while I know all of the reasons for them, still have trouble handling it after working so hard. As long as I'm complaining, still having lots of trouble with constipation. Made an appointment with a GI as each of my other Drs have recommended a different remedy and nothing has worked well. Ok, end of complaints ...

    CPAP

I've used a CPAP machine since 1989. I lost all excess weight in in 1994 and my pulmonologist recommended I continue using it on a very low setting due to my small neck but he didn't order a follow up sleep study. Now many years later and moving toward my goal weight I'm making use of the technology advances to deal with it this time. I have a self-titrating machine that automatically adjusts the setting on demand and records statistics. So I monitor the statistics and adjust the high/low ranges myself . Luckily I found instructions online on how to get into the clinician settings. I've been lectured by my CPAP supply company to not do this but it's worked out well for me ...

    coffee anyone?

I started drinking coffee again 3 weeks post op and now at 4.5 months out I'm drinking quite a bit. It's my only indulgence .... This weekend I had 3 double shots of espresso mixed with 8 ounces of brewed coffee. Had a great workout that day.

Cigna OAP require 3 or 6 month for approval

I have CIGNA and their requirements are vague and may be interpreted different ways. My surgeons office first interpreted as 3 months of nut but ended up being 4 months. A while back they did require 6 months of nut diet. You can review their policies at: https://cignaforhcp.cigna.com/public/content/pdf/coveragePolicies/medical/mm_0051_coveragepositioncriteria_bariatric_surgery.pdf
  20. Surprisingly, I don't miss anything at 4.5 months out. I expected to miss going out regularly and all of the Italian food I was consuming in mass quantities, but I don't. I hope this lasts ...
  21. I'm about 4.5 months out and it seems like every week I realize I now hate a food I loved pre op. Steak and most red meats now gross me out and now even chicken is having the same effect. While I don't want to go back to the way I ate beforehand I am getting concerned about limiting my sources of Protein. Anyone else experiencing the same thing or have any advice for me? Thanks Andrew

    Success after 5 years?

I'm still 4.5 months out but a friend had gastric bypass in 2003. He started at 450, lost 200 pounds, and has gained back 100 pounds at this point. He attributes it to doing no exercising and discovering a new love for craft beers.

Thanks sandysleeve. Yes I've been working out a lot and increasingly. I'm sorry to hear about your complications and hope you can resolve them soon. I had some issues myself earlier but have been doing great as of late.

    December 2013 Sleevers Come In!

Feeling more "normal" than I have in 25 years. My wife and I went away for the weekend and when swimming in the pool it felt great to take off my shirt and look fairly normal. When I was a 3x/4x I felt like a moose swimming and usually left a t-shirt on. Now, wearing a size Large shirt I feel great sitting by the pool without a shirt. Then when shopping for a t-shirt it felt great when the worker said "you're a Medium right?"

I can't wait to get into Onederland!

I feel the same way. Started at 314 five months ago and now 210. I will be shocked when under 200.
