    1 Year Later...600 calories?

At 4 months out, both my nut and surgeon increased my daily calories to 1000-1200. Both said that my weight loss should actually accelerate after doing so and it did.

    Goal weight met!

    You look awesome!! Congratulations!!
  3. I'm 5.5 months out and continue to experience bloating and discomfort on right side. After several doctor visits (Including GI) and one trip to ER determined its due to ongoing issues with constipation.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW: 314 SW: 278 CW: 192 Down 3 pounds this week.
  5. I'm not a vet but am down 120+ pounds in 5.5 months. I've told very few people about my WLS so I've had lots of explaining going on, especially after exceeding about 100 pounds. My explanation is that I had started having some health problems and became determined to do something about it . Then I say that I eat like a bird and run like a deer . No lies so far -- I just left out the minor detail of being sleeved.

Cigna Center of Excellence 2+ hours away

I too have CIGNA and actually found them to be very reasonable when going through the process. As others have said, call them and state your case. I was surprised as to how smoothly my case was handled and I ended up having 2 surgeries due to a complication.
  7. At 5.5 months I still don't love food and am hoping this lasts. My love of food is what got me into this mess. I love considering food for its nutritional value and not as a source of entertainment or method of soothing.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW: 314 SW: 278 CW: 195 Down 1 pound this week. Much slower weight loss these days, but I'm ok with it.
  9. Great job! You should be very proud of yourself for achieving this level of success.

    Discouraged and Heartbroken.

So sorry to hear about your husband. It's such a tragedy. I can't imagine what you're going through. My wife lost 2 sisters to breast cancer and is very much worried about getting it. He's lucky to have you by his side ...

    Long term physical considerations

Interesting topic. After losing 100+ pounds my wife pointed out that I was walking funny. Upon paying attention to this I realized that i was walking hunched over. I think I was continuing to compensate for my (former) large belly. Now I make a point of walking with my back straight but I have to think about it.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

HW: 314 SW: 278 CW: 197 Down 2 pounds this week. I'll take it. I noticed a bump below my breast area on one side. My wife got really nervous, but then I noticed the same bump on the other side. Pretty sure this is the bottom of my rib cage, which is something that's not been visible for many many years.

For the love of sweet Jesus.....

Madam ... While your post was very entertaining, you did make mention of one significant reason why people may not use the SEARCH feature -- it's terrible. Most times I use it, and I'm very technical, I end up abandoning my effort and just not bothering. The juice ain't worth the squeeze...

    Do not follow the leader

I'm still enjoying the benefits of the honeymoon phase. I'm fearful of upcoming stages given my terrible track record of regaining after weight loss.
  16. I'm out just over 5 months and eat no more than 4 oz per meal. I average about 1100 - 1200 calories a day.

    Tired of naysayers

During my initial stage of considering WLS, I discussed with a close (overweight) friend and he was relentless in begging me not to do it . He sent me emails with links to supplements (that haven't worked for him) and he continues to do this even after I've lost 115 pounds and am close to goal. Due to this experience early in my process I chose to only reveal my WLS to a few family members and 2 friends. No regrets as I know I'd have received plenty of unwelcomed bad advice.
  18. Happy and grateful to be in onederland this morning. It's been a long hard fight to reach this milestone.

December 2013 Sleever Pounds Lost Log

Actually, I weighed myself again this morning and realized that I'm in onederland. It's very hard for me to believe that I weigh less than 200 pounds as it seems like yesterday I was over 300 pounds. HW: 314 SW: 278 CW: 199

How has your view of others changed since surgery?

I agree with you. I've struggled with excessive weight my entire life, but was never accepting of it and wanted to lose weight the entire time. Now with 114 pounds gone I find myself less tolerant of overweight people that really push the acceptance angle. I was super obese for many years but hated every minute and at least made ongoing attempts to change. My niece recently posted a video on Facebook that is entitled "the new way to workout" which shows a man exercising and between each rep biting pizza or French fries, etc. My niece is super obese and I found that video sickening and not at all funny. I'd have thought the same way before surgery but feel more strongly about it now.

    How Many Calories @ Day?

At 3 months out I was consuming 600-800 calories/day. At 5 months out, both my nut and surgeons office have recommended 1000-1200/day and that's what I've been doing. They raised my Protein goal to 80 and increased recommended levels of exercise. My rate of weight loss has definitely slowed but probably due my being closer to goal. So far I feel like I've gotten very sound advice from all of my providers.

    100 lbs gone wow

    Buyers Remorse? Emotional?

In time your regrets will fade. I had internal bleeding and a second surgery 5 days post op and told my surgeon I had major regrets about being sleeved. His response was that he was going to ask me the same question in 3 months . He was right ... I'm so thankful I was sleeved.
  25. You've described me before surgery, both in your description of your history and apprehension about the surgery. Although I had a complication, internal bleeding and a second surgery, I would do it again even if I knew about the second surgery beforehand. I'm down about 114 pounds in 5 months, went from 9 meds to 1, and don't remember ever feeling this good in my entire life . Give this option some serious consideration.
