My constipation began post op and has continued for 7.5 months. Been to pcp and GI and have been taking lactolose ongoing with limited success. Getting descent levels of fiber and Water but that's not helped. Hoping to fix this at some point ...

She's definitely jealous of your success and knows she won't be making any positive changes herself . Misery loves company and she wants you back ...

Congratulations!! Great job!!

All chewables make me gag and liquids are out too. I've been taking 3 tiny capsules / day but they stink and taste terrible . At 7.5 months out from being sleeved I'm thinking of trying regular full sized centrums. Anyone else try this?
-
I had internal bleeding and a second surgery 5 days post op, but am still glad I chose the sleeve. I would do this again even if I knew about the second surgery beforehand.

I'm very sorry for your losses and especially how they're all happening at once. I've been in a similar situation and realize how draining this period must be for you. You're going to get through this. Stay strong and stick to the program ...

Unfortunately at 7.5 months out I'm able to eat 4 oz of protein and about 3 oz of veg. Until recently I was only able to consume 4 oz in total at one sitting

Sounds like you're doing great rjumper. I was sleeved in dec 2013 and down 135 pounds with 4 pounds left to reach my goal. Not sure if I will try to lose a little more as people are calling me boney at this point but my "love handles" are still bigger than I'd like. Congrats on your success and keep up the good work !

The way I've dealt with stalls along the way was to increase or change my exercise routine and that has worked well for me . Also I've continued to work with my nut post op and one time she increased my calories which actually increased my rate of weight loss. Everyone is different and each stage may require some fine-tuning.

... And exercise, exercise, exercise.

50-60% Excess weight loss in 2 years
Andrew0929 replied to *Jade*'s topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My surgeon mentioned the same general statistics, but of course each person is unique. I've lost 134 pounds in 7 months and am 5 pounds away from reaching my goal. I've just followed the instructions from my nut and surgeon for both dieting and exercise and the weight has fallen off quicker than I expected. -
Eating out card ?
Andrew0929 replied to KimberlyBranco7's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I received a card from my surgeons office but chucked it right away. I didn't want to deal with the reactions from restaurant workers and am fine with ordering appetizers or bringing home lots of leftovers. I've been eating out from the beginning and it's not been a problem. -
I, too, was among those making terrible food choices and shoveling down excessive volumes. While I do try not to judge others, it does disgust me to witness the gorging by others. However, I keep it to myself, as I've walked in their shoes before and can appreciate the challenges they're faced with.

It seems that recently I've been concerned about stopping my weight loss as I've approached my goal, but all of the sudden I'm noticing that I can consume quite a bit more food than I was able to even recently. I'm noticing that I can eat 4 ounces of Protein and then also eat 3 ounces of a vegetable or even a starch. Even a few weeks ago, I'd get really full after my 3-4 ounces of protein and have to wait an hour before having something else. It is kind of interesting that right at about the point where I want to stop losing, my appetite increases... Not complaining, but just adjusting to all of the changes. It was so easy beforehand, as my sleeve heavily restricted my food intake, but now I'm having to work at it more. I'm also noticing that granola and Protein Bars are my weakness and my consumption of both has been steadily increasing. I'm still logging and measuring, so keeping that in check. I'm very grateful for all my weight loss but starting to worry about regaining and better-understanding what they mean by the honeymoon period. Damn, I'm going to miss the honeymoon ... How did you guys deal with the honeymoon ending?

I had a 6-week food funeral which resulted in my gaining 11 pounds at one of my final pre- op appointments. My surgeon was furious and made my pre op diet 3 weeks instead of 2. That food funeral period made me extra ready to make big changes and I ended up losing 31 pounds pre op with Thanksgiving in the middle of it. No regrets for anything ...

Is My Honeymoon Over?
Andrew0929 replied to Andrew0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My honeymoon is definitely over at 7 months out. My wife commented about how much more I'm eating at one sitting now. Within the last few weeks I went from bring able to consume no more than 4 ounces to about 7 which is scaring me. I'm keeping my food choices good but volume is what caused all my damage over the years ... -
Is My Honeymoon Over?
Andrew0929 replied to Andrew0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My surgeon told me that the first 6 - 12 months is the honeymoon period. I'm told (and starting to experience) that after this period we are able to consume more food and that it's more of a challenge to lose and maintain. -
Can't stop losing!
Andrew0929 replied to Andrea Harris-Moten's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 7 pounds from reaching my goal and have lost 132 pounds. I have recently started worrying about how to stop losing and went to my nut for guidance. She did some calculations that took into account my age, height, and exercising and identified how much to increase my daily calories and carbs in order to stop losing. I highly recommend that you see your nut soon ... -

HW: 314 SW: 278 CW: 182 TPL:132 TPG:139 Down 3 pounds this week, surprisingly. I've increased calories and carbs, per my nut, in an effort to slow down my weight loss as I reach my goal but it keeps coming off. I love this damn sleeve ... -
19 months out and a leak!
Andrew0929 replied to RJ'S/beginning's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
RJ, it's unfair that you've had to deal with so many complications. I had internal bleeding, second surgery, and almost died 5 days post-op, but that was minor compared to all of the issues you've had to deal with. Somehow you've seemed to maintain a great attitude throughout all of this and have been a big help to many in this forum, including myself. Have they indicated whether or not this very late stage leak is an extension of prior complications or is it a brand new leak independent of all other issues? Best regards for a speedy recovery ... We are always here for you. -
How to stop weight loss
Andrew0929 replied to Andrew0929's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been following my nuts instructions, increasing daily calories to about 1500 and carbs to about 150-160 or so. Interestingly, I've continued to lose but at a slower rate. It appears that she knows what she's doing... -
I'm 6 months out and within 15 pounds of reaching my goal and couldn't be happier. However , I still have significant restriction (which I love) and really can't eat more than I am at this point. I'm starting to try and figure out how to stop losing weight in a healthy manner sometime soon. Will be making an appointment with my nut soon to get her perspective but wanted to hear some advice from the folks here as well. Thanks Andrew

If you are 6+ Months out from surgery....
Andrew0929 replied to Ree's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I'm 6.5 months out and have lost about 131 pounds with 8 pounds left to goal. I noticed a slow-down in my weight loss at about 5.5 months but I'm fine with that. Just happy that I'm still moving in the right direction . Along the way I've continued to log and monitor all food to ensure proper nutrition and calories. I've carefully increased calories and carbs proportionate to increases in exercise.
