MAC73 started following UnJury/Protein Powder, First fill and weigh in total lost pre & post band loss of 200 pounds!! and Cough
-
When i got my second fill yesterday, my dr told me specifically to let him know right away if I started coughing at night, it's a possible sign of reflux. You should call your dr. Even if its just post-nasal drip, it's better to get it checked out.

I discovered how to make Protein pina coladas (non-alcoholic) Mix one scoop of vanilla protein powder, add 1/4 cup of pineapple juice and 1/4 to 1/2 cup of coconut milk*, add enough skim milk to make 8 oz total, add crushed ice and a dash of rum extract (baking aisle in grocery store). Blenderize or shake vigorously. OPTION- use two tablespoons of crushed pineapple instead of the juice. * I buy "Naked" coconut milk which is low in calories, in the refrigerator section of supermarket with chilled sports drinks. Canned coconut milk can have a lot of sugar- always check labels on everything before you buy!

i also love unjury, and put the unflavored mix in anything and everything, just for a Protein boost. The chicken flavor is great, too. You can put them into hot Water, it just has to be less than 140 degrees. At first, I used a cooking thermometer to check temperature, now I know the feel for the right temp, (you can put your finger in it but can't keep it there for more than a second) and can add the Protein powder without it curdling. Sometimes it clumps just a little, but those blend in with a handheld blender or in a magic bullet. I also like Celebrate, it comes in chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. Celebrate ENS protein powder has all the daily Vitamins you need except B-12, so that is very convenient- one shake gives you all the vitamins you need. You can order on-line Celebrate has a website.

Had my first fill on Tues Aug 13, it was a breeze. Dr.used fluoroscopy to do it, first numbedthe area, added the fluid. The whole thing took maybe 5 mins. Was on full liquids and mushies for 48 hrs. At first, I didnt feel any different + was hungry. Now, two days later, I feel full after less than a cup of anything. No problems at all, looking forward to continuing wt loss, hoping to get in the "green zone".

You can make oatmeal with the hot water from coffee-maker. I add unflavored protein powder to mine and a couple of drops or maple extract (in baking aisle at supermkt). I also make tuna salad, i put onion powder and celery salt in it for flavor without the solids. Plain low fat Grrey yogurt w/protein powder is awesome, especially if you can use a miniblender to add in fresh fruit. I like to add vanilla or strawberry flavored protein powder. You probably won't have a big appetite after the sugery, so getting adequate protein + liquids will be important. Good luck with your surgery! Mine was June 27- I've lost 25 lbs so far, including pre-op. -
Thanks for these posts. I wasbanded June 27, scheduled for fill Aug 13. Dr wanted to do it a week earlier, but I have to fly that week, so we pushed it back. I am down 22 lbs so far- yeehaw!!

I agree about getting your shoes from a store that specialiazes in running. I was running in shoes I bought myself, but ended up with inflammation of the hip that required several months of physiotherapy and meds before it finally resolved. After I was finally back on my feet, I went to a local running store and found out I needed a totally different shoe. Now I can walk without pain and I am also going to get back to running with the Couch to 5K program.

That is awesome- congratulations!!!

Hi Bbagley. Just checking in w/you, hope you are feeling better!
-
This is my 7th day post-op, and I also enjoyed COW for breakfast, sprinkled w/cinnamon and a quick spritz with sprayable margarine, plus a half-packet of unflavored unjury protein to boost protein. Comfort food!

Hang in there, bbagley. You're going through a big change, so an emotional reaction is okay. But don't let it get you down, you will get through the tough times and look back with pride on what you accomplished. Talk to your dr + nutritionist asap for advice on your upset stomach- it could be as simple as taking something for gas or constipation. They will steer you right. Runny cream of wheat helped settle my stomach, and unjury protein works best for me, but everyone is a little different. If the bvrand you have upsets your tummy, try a different one.
