Scale hugging...inappropriate or not???
Armonet posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sooooo...I almost hugged my scales this a.m.!!! For the past 15+ years, I've been over 200 lbs...way over. I had a follow up appointment scheduled with my surgeon today and decided to weigh before I went. I didn't want to be surprised, shocked or disappointed. Well..I thought my eyes were deceiving me, so I tried not to get excited. The dr's office scales are always different anyway. I got there and weighed in today at 197.8!!! I almost cried. Although I know I still have long way to go, but I am so excited and happy!!! -

jenwebber, Bandista, jamilyne 102668 & MandaMom23...thank you all so much! It's been quite a journey, but I'm thankful for everyone on this forum who have shared the ups and downs. I still have about 60 pounds to go before I reach my goal, but I appreciate all the encouragement. Let's all continue to support and cheer for each other!!! -

Hey Allie! Hope you're feeling better. The dr. will give you more pain meds if you ask. Do you have the card from Mrs. Betty? It has her cell phone # on it. I had an appt today but I think they'll be out the rest of the week. Hopefully, you'll be able to reach her today!!! -

Just curious...are there any foods that you absolutely cannot tolerate eating since being banded? 98% of the time, I can't eat bread. I can eat scrambled egg whites but not 'regular' scrambled eggs. I can also eat the white part of a boiled egg but not the yolk. Also, 1/2 a glass of Moscato makes me TIPSY!

Forbidden Fruit...or meat, veggies, etc.

dylanmiles23, I'm afraid to try a lot of foods because of the horror stories I've heard! I guess I need to try some more foods, just not in public! These replies have helped me a lot. I appreciate the responses. I hope you have a great birthday!!! Enjoy your meal, it all sounds delish! terrydumont46, several people have posted about not being able to eat deli meat, especially turkey! Weird, isn't it? I love to eat deli meat wrapped around string cheese. myjoy420, I avoided rice like the plague up until a few weeks ago. I didn't have any trouble with it at all. I didn't eat a lot of it though. Dry meat is a no no for me too. I try to dip it in something to tolerate it better. I could only eat 1 turkey sausage link this a.m. because it was so dry. -

mrsto, I have been afraid to try pineapples because I think quite a few people have trouble eating them. LOL @ 'cheap date'. If I force down the whole glass, I'll probably be dancing on tables! sp70, grilled chicken breasts were hard for me to eat at one point. Now, I can eat it if it's in a salad with dressing on it. People always tell me that just because I can't tolerate it one day, I might be able to at a later date! 2muchfun and carolinagirl, it took me FOREVER to get the small bites and lots of chewing down! I didn't have much restriction until after my 4th fill and as soon as I started eating solid food again, I experienced 'bandster hell' for the first time. UGHHHH -

Oh, one more thing...keep trying with the liquids. Small sips all day long. I became dehydrated the first week after my surgery. Trust me, it's not a good feeling! -

I've only seen Dr. Hekier so far! Oct. 2 is approaching quickly. It's hard not to be nervous and anxious, but it will be fine! The post op diet wasn't as hard as the pre op diet, in my opinion. I didn't have the urge to eat for a few weeks after surgery due to swelling. I actually dehydrated...DON'T FORGET TO DRINK LOTS OF FLUID!!! As you go through the different phases in the post op diet, you get VERY creative with your food choices. Have plenty of protein shakes on hand. By the time I got to the mushy stage, I almost OD'd on soup, LOL. Dr. Hekier told me not to even worry about weight loss prior to my first fill. Your main focus should be on healing. YAY...let the countdown begin! -

I was banded on March 29 of this year. I've lost about 50 lbs. Are you being banded by Hekier/Keilen? I'm here if you have any questions. I'm still fairly new to the process but I've learned a lot so far and I'm willing to help in any way I can!!! -
I LOVE cheese! I always have a huge supply on hand. I wrap thinly sliced turkey around a stick of Weight Watcher's string cheese and it is delicious! I'm going to look and see if I can find any reviews on the Unjury cheese sauce.

Thanks for the review. I've seen those meals and wondered if they were any good. -
I was banded on 03/29/13. I received my 4th fill on Tues. Until then, I didn't feel much restriction, not consistently anyway. Meaning, one day a small portion would satisfy me, but the next day, the same portion size did NOTHING for me. With the fill I got Tues., I was on protein shakes the entire day. I tolerated them just fine. All day yesterday, I ate mushy foods. I had half a cup of applesauce, half a cup of cottage cheese...tolerated those fine as well. This a.m., I had a small mug of hot water with lemon. After about 45 minutes, I tried to eat scrambled egg whites with cheese. I took small bites and chewed well but was OVERSTUFFED after about 1/4 a cup!!! I've eaten with the band until I felt satisfied before, but this is a different feeling. My tummy feels like an overfilled helium balloon!!! I'm wondering if I'm swollen from the fill or is this what a 'proper' fill should feel like. With the 3 previous fills, after 2 days, I could still almost eat 'normal' amounts of food. Also, I ate the 1/4 cup of eggs in about 5 minutes. Maybe that was too fast??? Like I stated before, I haven't felt much restriction so far, so prior to this fill, I could eat my entire meal in 15 minutes.

aubrey222, eggs have been one of my 'go to' meals since they're quick, easy and high in protein! I'm going to try a boiled egg. Hopefully, I won't get that uncomfortable feeling.

I was banded 5 mos. ago and just had my 1st alcoholic beverage since being banded. Pre band, I could drink a whole bottle of Moscato d'Asti...don't judge me, LOL. I poured a wine glass full earlier and could only take about 4 small sips. I was wasted! Geez...luckily, my neighbor is a lush!
