I have been stuck at 123kilos (270 pounds) for about 9 days. Using myfitnesspal.com to track calories and exercising as instructed. My scales were staying as still as a deer in headlights. Have not been to upset as I have been losing inches and my clothes are fitting better. Today I got on the scale expecting the same results. Ugh???? Are the scales broken? Has old age finally hit my eyes? Do I need to see the doc about glasses??? I screamed at my husband to come downstairs. (He is a workout aholic and does not need to lose weight however he weighs in with me twice a week as support) He came downstairs and I pointed at the weigh in chart on the wall so that he could see his previous weight. (yep a wall chart that we record our weight on each weigh in. For me visibility is everything) I pushed him on the scales. He was exactly the same as last week. He looked at my crazed eyes and didn't say a thing. (smart man!!) He watched as I stepped on the scales.... 118.3 kilos (roughly 260 pounds)!!!!! Ugh? Is that even possible? We then weighed the dog. She had been to the vet last week so her weight was recorded on her exit papers. Yep she weighed close to the weight on her papers!! 10 pounds in 9 days? Have I lost the plot? Is it even possible? I don't care. I was so excited I immediately came on here and added it to my tracker. I am going to weigh in tomorrow despite it not being weigh in day just to see if it changes. For now my tracker shows the new weight. 48 pounds lost!! Things that weigh 48 pounds: a 15-foot canoe a 4-year-old child an average human leg a 13 inch television six gallons of Water

Actually 258 out now so need to update my ticker!!! -
My hubby and I have been married for five years. Each anniversary leaves me surprised that that he is alive and breathing and that I have not yet buried him in the back garden. He has his faults. A short but not inclusive list: He thinks the cleaning fairies come behind him and clean up and in order to keep them in work he continues to leave a mess in his wake. He thinks that 5 minutes is enough notice to give me that he is bringing business colleagues home for dinner. (always on a night I plan to serve leftovers!) He gives up his dog ownership rights when she rolls in something god awful in the park but forgets this when she is groomed and wants to play. His idea of a romantic date today was going to the movies to see kickass 2 and then a couple of pints at our local pub OK with all his faults I have to say he has really embraced my band and has become the best band buddy ever!! Each week he weighs in with me despite the fact that he is at his ideal weight He is by my side each Wednesday when I have my 'naked mirror moments' and holds me when it is a bit to much He checks the calorie counts on everything when we go grocery shopping He will not let me make excuses (pms or hormones as a reason to have chocolate) He became a member of a lapband spouse forum so he could better understand the challenges ahead He gave up the holiday that we had been saving for and instead agreed to use the money for my lapband surgery He kicks my ass off the couch when I tell him I am to tired to exercise He tells me the honest truth when I ask him if I look thinner even when I would rather he lie I cant say that I would be doing near as well with my band alone without his support. I think that sometimes we get so absorbed with how we are handling the experience and how it impacts us that we forget to take the time to acknowledge and thank the people who support us and help make the journey possible. So here is to my amazing hubby who creeps in the forum to read what is going on. I love you and thank you for the support. PS the cleaning fairies have gone on strike. If you want clean underwear for work tomorrow I suggest you read the manual for the washer and dryer.

for mushy stage I cooked a bag of birds eye steam veggie and overcooked them in the microwave. I put them in the blender and added a can of weight watchers chicken potato and leek soup. Made two meals and was super yummy

Congratulations!!! Its easy to stick to the program when you are losing weight but the true test of a person is whether or not they stick to the program when the weight is not moving. So impressed with you!!!

Anyone else banded on 6/26/13??
Amberley replied to Rola77's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Banded June 29. Lost 28 pounds pre op and 20 lbs post op. Had my first fill a week and a half ago. 5 ccs in a 12 cc band. Bandster hell right now with no restriction at all. -
my friend does acupuncture. She gave me a couple of treatments. Stopped the itching. As crazy as it sounds she recommended foot rubs to stop the itching. said that there is a spot in your foot that controls nerve endings. lol

Thanks. My hubby looked those up. I need visuals. Makes it more real!!! -
People may be noticing and just not saying anything. The other day a colleague overheard me talking on the phone to my hubby about my weight loss. When I got off the phone he said that he had noticed I had lost weight however did not want to say anything as he was concerned I might take it the wrong way!! He said congratulations. Sometimes people are unsure whether to say something or sometimes because people see you everyday it is harder for them to notice the weight loss. It is that way with my hubby. I ask him if he has noticed and he says a little. I went to work and my friend that has been on holiday was back and she was amazed!!! Keep your chin up your doing great!!!!

Welcome! Was banded 6 weeks ago. The gas pains were not that bad however my incisions itched like mad!!

INSPIRATIONAL!!

My doctor wanted my bmi under 50 so he placed me on a liquid diet for 4 weeks. I lost 28 pounds. It was tough going. I almost forgot what it was like to chew!!!!
-
I had a fill on Saturday (5ccs added) I was on a liquid diet until yesterday. Started mushies. Had my favourite which is blended chicken and refried beans. I guess I swallowed a bite that I did not chew well enough as I felt it get stuck. Assume it was a bit of the chicken. I slimed and regured last night. This morning it is still stuck. Have tried warm and cold drinks and can keep some down but keep sliming. I just called the doc and am waiting on a call back. Can one stuck issue cause your band to slip? Will they have to remove the saline from my band? Waiting to be called back is killing me. Has this happened to anyone else after a fill? I didn't think that something getting stuck would last this long.
-
Good news!!! Woke up this morning and there was no tightness in my chest. Sipped some water and it went down fine. No sliming. Sipped a slimfast shake and it all went down fine. Sticking to liquids for the time being. What ever was stuck has went down or the swelling has. Have called my doc who said we will see how it goes today and tomorrow before we decide to cancel my Friday appointment. I think I would like him to still take a little out though.
-
Just spoke with the doc. Going into London on Friday morning for an unfill. Doc told me to sip water and try ice lollies. Ugh. Did anyone else have a stuck episode in the beginning or am I a complete idiot? Things were going to well!!
-
Thanks for that. I know I worry allot. I know that I should not have trusted the blender. Don't know how that bit of chicken got past me . ugh

Pre-op diet killing me mentally!
Amberley replied to Shante92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yep I thought about not being able to eat my favourite foods. But then I thought about what eating my favourite foods were costing me... not being able to walk the dog without losing my breath, buying clothes because they fit rather than because I like them, planning my workday to avoid the stairs.. Trust me all those thing things cost small pieces of your self esteem. It takes me 5 minutes to eat my favourite meal (creamy spinach pasta) and half an hour later I cant even remember what it tasted like or why I thought I needed it. So I drink my cold water and consider.. 5 minutes of eating my favourite food or the making headway towards my goals. The satisfaction with the weight loss lasts a lot longer than the taste of those calorie laden foods. I am now 40 lbs lost (banded June 29th). I was in London for my fill on Saturday and was able to walk around and shop with my hubby and never lost my breath. We went shopping and I bought 24s instead of 28s. Feeling pretty proud of myself. That it lasting a lot longer than the 5 minutes of enjoyment of that pasta. Best of luck to you. Shout if I can help in anyway -
London underground... First Fill... and crazed taxi drivers....
Amberley posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Today I had my first fill. I live just outside Amersham in the UK and had to go to Harely Street in London for my fill. Only been in the UK for 5 years and my experience with the London train/rail system is not extensive. Recipe for disaster: Take one home-grown Texan with no sense of direction, mix with one crazy London transport system, add one non Texan (or English) speaking taxi driver.... Yep that was my morning. Got lost in Marylebone station. Finally got out of the station and had to take a bus to Harely Street. In case anyone was wondering when on a London bus and your stop flashes on the info screen it does not mean the bus will stop. You must hit the convenient little red button on the handle near you. If you don't the bus will go right past your stop and you will have to try and find your way back, finally give up once you have circled the same block twice and then get in a taxi with a person who appears just as lost as you which would be find except he was the driver..... Now if an experience ever deserved chocolate at the end this was it!!! (okay I didn't eat chocolate at the end but I am sure that the 'Amber' living in the parallel universe where calories make you lose weight did!!!) My appointment it self went well. Doc was happy with my weight lost to date. The doc aspirated the fluid that I had in my band. At time of surgery I had 1.5cc added to my band. The doc was only able to aspirate 1cc. Was freaking out as I thought 'oh no a leak!' . Doc said the .5cc was probably in the tubing and that it was not uncommon. Has this happened to anyone else? Doc then put 5cc in my band. Had me drink a cup of warm liquid and a cup of cold water. Both went down fine. I freak out over needles however the fill I hardly noticed. On liquid for the next three days and then 3 days of mushies. I gotta say that I absolutely have had the best experience with the Hospital Group. Great surgery and my first fill was a great experience. Looking forward to see how this fill affects the hunger issue I have been experiencing. Step 2- THE FILL completed!!! -
Pre-op diet killing me mentally!
Amberley replied to Shante92's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was on preop diet for 4 weeks prior to surgery. Lost 2 stone. three slimfast and 3 yoghurts a day. It was rough the first three days then it got better. Some days I forgot to eat all my yoghurts!!! I just kept myself busy and kept icy cold water in the fridge. Any time I got hungry I made myself drink two ounces of icy cold water. Killed the hunger!!! -
One month and 3 days post surgery. My first fill is tomorrow. I currently have 1.5 cc in a 12 cc band. I am keeping my daily calorie intake between 1000 and 1200 calories a day. For the last week I have lost.....nothing!!! I have only lost 5kg since my surgery on June 29th so weight has been moving slowly. My big concern is that with controlling my calories now and I am not losing how does it bode for me moving forward? Having a moment... need a voice of sanity!!
