I just got my surgery last week. Yes, the pre-op diet was HARD, I found crushed ice helped me. I munched on it throughout the day, so it felt like I was eating something. I also ice cubes out of crystal light, so when eating them they actually had a flavor to them. I lost 10 lbs on the prep diet. I had to do the two week prep because of fatty liver. I felt fine a couple of days after surgery. Can only imagine how long recovery might have been (or how painful) if the liver hadn't shrunk and they would have had to "push" it out of the way. I started my "ticker" at the weight I was at time of surgery. One week and already 11 lbs gone. Now when I feel the urge to cheat on the post-op diet, i just look at that and see the light at the end of the tunnel. Stay strong, we're all here for you.

Well, it's been one week since surgery. Feel fine, no pain or soreness. A little hunger but not too bad or unbearable. Liquids going down really easy. No feeling of "being stuck". I think getting enough water in every day will be my downfall, but I'm sure it will become habit soon and become second nature. Thanks for the support!! -

I had my surgery on Monday (aug 5). Doing well now. First night I had a case of dry heaves (nothing in the stomach to come up). It scared the crap out of my husband who immediately wanted to call the paramedics. Other than this horrible pain in my shoulder, I feel fine now. Just trying to get the water in, but I just don't have any desire to eat or drink right now. -

I did all of that before the band, but I had to huff and puff my way through it. Can't wait to lose some weight and be able to really enjoy hiking, zipline, etc. Good news! my surgery was just moved up to Monday, August 5th!! Excited and Nervous. -

I will swing the true results office on my lunch hour tomorrow and pick up a few of their shakes and see if I like them better. I need to get the liquid vitamins too. -

Great, I feel better knowing that someone else was happy with him. I haven't met him yet. Have an appointment to meet him on Aug 5th. My surgery is Aug 8th. -

Yes, I'm on two shakes and a meal. I thought I would just use the Atkins frozen meals since they are only meat and veggies. I didn't know I could add fruit to the shake. I'll try that tomorrow (just had my lunch shake). Thanks!! -

Also, I have Dr. Reilly. I've "heard" he's good, but have any of you actually used him? -

God help me, I've started the two week pre-op diet today. Any suggestions on how to fight the hunger and cravings? -

Hi Ladies, It's been great reading your posts. It helps knowing what to expect. Finally have my surgery date - August 8th. Could have had it sooner, but going out of town the first 3 weeks of July so no time to do the pre-op diet before then. Now that I have an actual date, it seems more real and I'm getting excited. -
Thanks for starting this group

Hi, my name is Cindy. I am also working with True Results in Houston. Still in the pre-op category. Hoping to have surgery in early August. Now that you've had the band for a couple of months - are you happy with it? Any advice for a newbie? -
Hi, I also live in Katy. Just starting the process. Hope to have the last test (endoscopy) next week, then paperwork may be submitted to insurance. Hoping to have surgery in early August. Now that you've had the band for a few months, how have you been doing? Are you happy with the results?

How has it been so far? Is it true that you don't feel hungry with the band and that those 20 dime sized bites really do satify you?

Time between consult and surgery

I also have BCBS. They gave a pre-approval with a BMI of 35 and pre-existing conditions that are directly related to being over weight - high blood pressure, just dianosed with dibeties, sleep apena, and fatty liver. Just had my psy eval and going for the endoscopy next week. Then all paperwork will be submitted to BCBS for official approval. I'm shooting for August for surgery due to work committments in July. Hopefully all will work out. Already getting excited about finally losing this weight. -

Hi, I'm a newbi. Just getting final tests then paperwork may be submitted to insurance for approval. Already been pre-approved, so it's just paperwork. Expect to have the band in August or so. Do folks meet in person or just online? Would like to find a local group of others to hang out with from time to time so that I don't fall back into bad eating habits with current friends. -
Hi, is this group still active? I'm just waiting for insurance approval, then I'll have my band. Looking for other newbies in my area to support each other.
